We're barely past the midpoint and it's already been a great year for horror movies. A Quiet Place pleased critics and genre aficionados in droves, Hereditary left audiences shocked and gasping, Upgrade delivered unprecedented ultraviolence, and Annihilation found an unlikely yet enthralling intersect between fantasy and body horror. We've also seen solid sequels in Insidious: The Last Key, The First Purge, and Hellraiser: Judgment. And the best may be yet to come, with The Nun, The Predator, and Halloween all coming down the pike when it comes to 2018 horror Movies.

Sure, there have been some disappointments as well but there've also been some incredible genre offerings that have fallen through the cracks. If you're one of those cinephiles who complains there's nothing new or original horror movies being produced these days, you simply aren't looking hard enough.
