• Warning: Spoilers
This is a rather odd film. It starts out as if it's going to be Swiss Familly Robinson and ends up more like Psycho.

Alexander Macendrick was a rather troubling director. He was very much at home when he was at Ealing. However after 1955 he was cut adrift and didn't care so well. Yes he made Sweet Smell of Success, but after that it was all downhill. I suspect that his name alone has inspired so many 10/10 reviews.

Personally I found this film a hard slog. I am not sure what the restoration of twenty five minutes of cuts would have do one to the pace of this rather lethargic film. Some nice cinematography is about the best that can be said for it.
