Jerry Seinfeld shared a cup of Joe with the one and only President Obama , and there was no talk of politics! The Seinfeld star kicked off season 7 of his hit web series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee on Wednesday. And although the Commander in Chief isn't a professional comedian, he proved he's got a great sense of humor. Seinfeld, 61, picked up his "are-you-kidding-me-super-special-guest" at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in a classic 1963 Corvette Stingray Split Window Coupe, even going through the bushes to knock on Obama's Oval Office window. From Crackle: Just Tell Him You’re the President While the host is used...

The Voice‘s Kimberly Nichole would like to remind America that “Black Girls Rock” isn’t just an awards show, it’s a musical reality.
“Throughout my career, it’s been frustrating to me that when I say, ‘I sing rock music,’ people are always surprised,” says Season 8’s sixth-place finisher. “People don’t know the history of rock music, how it evolved from the African-American spirituals, from the sharecroppers singing songs, to the blues, and then to rock music.”

What’s more, adds Kimberly, “music is universal, and anybody can sing any style anyhow.

Plot:
The League of Assassins give Oliver 48 hours to find Sara’s killer, but when the Arrow discovers the Killer’s identity. He has only one option left to him and that is to face the leader of the League… Ra’s al Ghul.
Verdict:
And so we arrive at the mid point of Arrow’s third season, a point where the show usually gives us a cliffhanger episode to tie us over to the festive period and into the new year (Happy New Year) until the series comes back on at the end of January. Well this series has certainly given us one hell of an episode to think about until January 21 (the gap feels a little too long at this point, which goes to show how strong of a impression this episode has left with me) when we will see what happens next.

Plot:
After finding out that Malcolm Meryln is still alive and hiding in Starling City, Team Arrow come to believe that the Dark Archer is actually Sara’s killer. But is he really?
Verdict:
Okay, this is more like it. After the first few episodes of this season, which did not have any real kind of forward momentum to them (I certainly did not feel any kind of sense as to where the show was going with this season’s arc or what that arc was supposed to be before this instalment), this episode finally kicks it up a notch and delves back into two of Arrow’s stronger story-lines. That being Malcolm Merlyn, while the other is the League of Assassin’s (yes I know they are both linked too, which is also a good thing).

Nick Lazzarini can’t twerk, Tabatha Coffey came out twice, and Fox News shortchanges marriage equality victories
Kids In the Hall’s Scott Thompson was gay on TV before being gay on TV was cool. And he misses the counterculture nature of being gay back then. “This whole marriage thing, I mean I understand it and I’m for it, but my heart isn’t in it. For my generation, it was just staying alive. Gay marriage never crossed my mind! Lesbians hoisted it upon us. I don’t know how a young gay guy can rebel any longer. When I was young, homosexuals were interesting and flawed. They were artists and hung out in cafés and were like Jean Genet, Gore Vidal, and James Baldwin. They were underground and shaping culture. The ones you heard about were the very gifted. The ones who were regular folks were married and...

“We actors are completely oblivious of ourselves and our surroundings while we perform and even when we watch our work in the rushes shown to us, our senses and vision are trained to detect shortcomings more than accomplishments. That’s the only way we know to improve and render performances that come close to our own satisfaction. And it is always the audience who have the absolute right to acclaim or reject our work, however hard we may have worked to achieve perfection and excellence.” – Dilip Kumar in a letter to Amitabh Bachchan on 14 December 2011

Today, AFI 2012 announced its complete lineup, after previously debuting its New Auteurs, Young Americans, Galas and Special Screenings we finally get a look at the Midnight, Breakthrough, Shorts, and deliriously good World Cinema Selections.
The Shorts section, with almost too many to count, features new work from Nacho Vigalando, Nicolas Provost, and even Shia Labeouf (Cannes selected), among many others. The four Midnight titles all played in Tiff 2012’s Midnight Madness selection, and here we see John Dies at the End making a stop here after originally premiering at Sundance. They’ve nabbed three North American premieres in their Breakthrough section, including Kid from Fien Troch, Nairobi Half Life from David Tosh Gitonga, and Oh Boy from Jan Ole Gerster. September is here again, and it's time to delve into the cinematic bounty of the Wavelengths section of the Toronto International Film Festival, that rambunctious and idiosyncratic corner of the Reitman Machine largely cordoned off from commercial concerns and set aside for lovely and sometimes difficult film art. Despite the ever-changing profile of Tiff, stalwart programmer Andréa Picard has [cue needle-scratching-record sound] What? Yes, last year at this time, the avant-garde community thought we were seeing Ms. Picard leaving this position behind. Fortunately for us all, Tiff won her back.
And this is where things get interesting. Starting with this 2012 edition of the festival, the Wavelengths section is a much more broadly based, festival-wide category. In essence, it now subsumes the old Visions designation, which was Tiff’s home for formally challenging, feature-length arthouse fare. This merger, which may seem like a bit of a shotgun wedding to some, does in fact make sense.

A master turns 100 and Joe offers his Top 10 Herrmann scores….
One hundred years ago today — June 29th, 1911 — Bernard Herrmann was born. He was one of the great film composers and I have no doubt that, if you’re reading this, you’ve heard some of his music. If you’ve never delved into the classics that Herrmann scored (for shame), you’ve probably heard its influence. Quentin Tarantino notably borrowed a track from Twisted Nerve for a scene in Kill Bill and Beatles producer George Martin has cited the influence of Herrmann. (Go listen to “Eleanor Rigby”.)
On the web, NPR has a pretty conclusive overview of the man and there’s an exhaustive list of where you can track down celebrations of the man and his music over at the Bernard Herrmann Society.
