Sebastian Stan’s Thunderbolts* Skin Coming to Marvel Rivals Gives Me Hope for a ‘First Steps’ Upgrade for the Fantastic Four
Image
If you’re a Winter Soldier main in Marvel Rivals, I’ve got some good news for you. Bucky is getting a major glow-up with a new skin in NetEase’s hero shooter just days before the Thunderbolts* movie premieres. The skin features Bucky Barnes in a tactical jumpsuit, complete with gear and a cinematic Mvp animation from a scene in the upcoming movie.

We’re seeing a rise in McU-inspired skins in-game, and this gives me hope that when the new Fantastic Four movie comes around in July, we’ll get themed skins for Marvel’s first family. The Fantastic Four already joined the game in Season 1, and it’s time for them to get some McU-themed skins too.

Marvel Rivals should give the Fantastic Four the same treatment as Bucky

I think the new Thunderbolts* skin for Winter Soldier looks fantastic, and I am sure most of the community does too.

Kevin Feige Can Still Bring Miles Teller’s Reed Richards Into MCU Without Downplaying Pedro Pascal’s in Fantastic Four Reboot
Image
The Fantastic Four reboot is in the works under Marvel Studios’ careful watch, with none other than Pedro Pascal suiting up as the iconic Reed Richards. Yet, a nagging question buzzes around fandoms across the globe: Could Miles Teller’s Reed Richards, from the much-critiqued 2015 Fantastic Four, still have a place in the multiverse?

Much to fans’ surprise, that might just be possible! We all know Marvel boss Kevin Feige sure has the creative playbook to make that happen, without dimming Pascal’s shining moment.

The Multiverse Saga might have room for both Pedro Pascal and Miles Teller

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is already deep into its Multiverse Saga, a narrative background that lets multiple versions of the same character exist at the same time. Take Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as an example- the film gave us John Krasinski’s Reed Richards from Earth-838, independent of any future Earth-616 interpretation.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Gets a Multiverse-Shattering Story Update
Image
Mark your calendars! Marvel’s Phase Six is about to go green on July 26th with the release of Fantastic Four: First Steps. Only weeks ahead, the promotional material for the movie is sparking plenty of theories among the wider fandom. After all, the big question remains: why is their primary villain, Dr. Doom, connected to the fifth Avengers movie, Doomsday, that’s coming out in 2026?

To tell you the truth, it’s probably for the best that we have no official confirmation of any spoilers that will surely ruin the plot. Regardless, you can be assured that this time, Marvel’s first family isn’t too interested in telling us their drawn-out origin story.

Origin? Please. We’re four years in with Fantastic Four: First Steps A still from the Fantastic Four: First Steps trailer | Credits: Marvel Studios

First Steps (1985)
Marvel Comics and Marvel Studios join forces for the first time for an MCU comic with Fantastic Four: First Steps
First Steps (1985)
Marvel Comics and Marvel Studios are taking the first steps on a joint project that brings the publisher’s output closer to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Fantastic Four: First Steps. Hitting the stands on July 2, a Fantastic Four: First Steps comic marks the first time Marvel Studios directly influences a Marvel comic book. Sure, there have been movie tie-in comics before, but never like this.

Matt Fraction pens Fantastic Four: First Steps with art by Mark Buckingham and cover art by Phil Noto. First Steps is a one-shot comic published by Future Foundation.

According to Deadline, The Fantastic Four: First Steps comic is designed to be an artifact from the world of the upcoming movie. The book confirms that the forthcoming Marvel Studios film is not an origin story but a tale taking place four years after the team becomes heroes. The comic pulls inspiration from the MCU film,...

Julia Garner Was Shocked to Be Cast as the Silver Surfer in ‘Fantastic Four’ After an ‘All Over the Place’ Meeting: ‘Wait, What?’
Image
Julia Garner was shocked to realize she was cast as the Silver Surfer in “Fantastic Four: First Steps.” Garner, who plays the female version of the character Aka Shalla-Bal, makes her MCU debut with the franchise reboot prequel. However, after a chaotic meeting with director Matt Shakman that spanned discussions of “Communism, Brutalist architecture,” and more, Garner assumed she missed out on the villain role.

“I was a very big fan of Matt’s, so there was already, in my mind, like, ‘I should probably meet with Matt Shakman because he’s a very smart director and I love his work,’” Garner told Entertainment Weekly, adding that at first she was even “confused” to be in talks for the Silver Surfer as she thought the character was a man (“I’ll play anything”).

Garner continued of Shakman, “He wasn’t telling me a whole bunch about the movie, but we...

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Star Julia Garner On Her "Ambiguous" Silver Surfer And MCU Future - Spoilers
Image
Last year, we got confirmation that The Fantastic Four: First Steps will introduce a female take on Marvel Comics' classic space-faring hero, the Silver Surfer - but not the version of the character fans are most familiar with.

Emmy Award-winner Julia Garner will play the movie's Surfer, but not a gender-switched take on Norrin Radd. Garner will actually take on the role of Shalla-Bal.

In the original Marvel Comics continuity, Shalla-Bal was the Empress of the planet Zenn-La, and was the first love of Norrin Radd. When Galactus came to devour their planet, Radd volunteered to become his herald in exchange for sparing Zenn-La. Later, when Franklin Richards took over as the new Galactus, he imbued Shalla with the same cosmic powers and allowed her to serve as a twin herald alongside Radd.

'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' Star Julia Garner Confirms Silver Surfer Is Shalla-Bal
Image
The Fantastic Four: First Steps made waves when they cast the film's main characters, including one of the antagonists, the Silver Surfer. Julia Garner, an incredibly talented actor who recently starred in Wolf Man, made headlines as the first female live-action depiction of the Herald of Galactus. Some fans have speculated that Garner was playing a gender-bent version of Norrin Radd, the original Silver Surfer. However, the three-time Emmy-winning Ozark actress has confirmed the true identity of her version of the iconic Marvel character, and it's a deep-cut reference to the source material.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Garner confirmed that when she signed on for The Fantastic Four, director Matt Shakman explained to her that the character she would end up portraying was Shalla-Bal, the love interest of Norrin Radd and one of the few characters to wield the power of the Silver Surfer.

"No, I met up with Matt,...

First look at Galactus in Fantastic Four: First Steps unveiled
Image
Are you ready for take-off? On July 25, Marvel's first family will make their Marvel Cinematic Universe debut courtesy of Fantastic Four: First Steps. The highly anticipated movie will take audiences on an adventure in a retro-futuristic world where Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Ben Grimm, and Johnny Storm are the only heroes needed to stop any earthly threat. However, citizens of this parallel reality are about to learn that sometimes the worst dangers come from outer space.

For years now, audiences have been asking to see Galactus appear in the MCU. However, with Thanos' search for the Infinity Stones, Kang's debut, and Doctor Doom's upcoming reign, there has been little space left to see the world-eater on the big screen. Fortunately, that's soon to change in Fantastic Four: First Steps.

We've seen little glimpses of Galactus (and his shadow) in the movie's promotional trailers released so far. That being said,...

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Director Reveals How Film Combines Sci-Fi Retro-Futurism and Realism
Image
Marvel's The Fantastic Four: First Steps will embrace all of its 1960s roots, including its depiction of space travel.

"I really wanted to go with as grounded a version of space as possible. So, no wormholes," director Matt Shakman told Empire about designing the Fantastic Four's alternate world, describing its technology as "very much retro-future, but it's also booster rockets. It’s a combination of Marvel and Apollo 11." This meant imitating the look of science fiction during the '60s, comparing it to "the way Stanley Kubrick would have made it" in his groundbreaking 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey. This meant shooting First Steps with "used old lenses" and utilizing "an approach to filmmaking that feels more of the time," though Shakman insisted CGI would still be a part of the movie's aesthetic.

Pedro Pascal Reveals the Surprising Inspiration for His Stretching Power in Fantastic Four: First Steps
Image
The Fantastic Four: First Steps star and Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic actor Pedro Pascal touched upon the inspiration for Mister Fantastic's stretching power. This comes after The Fantastic Four: First Steps director Matt Shakman and Johnny Storm/The Human Torch actor Joseph Quinn delved into changes to the Master of Flame.

Pascal brought this subject up in an interview with ComicBook.com, avowing, "With Reed, his body may stretch, but this is a brain character. I guess I'll just give it completely away. I thought of the brilliance of an octopus. Not in any literal physical translated way, but I put it into my subconscious. Yeah. That's the biggest character secret reveal that I've given to you."

Before this, Pascal talked about the pressures of playing the McU's Mister Fantastic, conveying, "It was really intimidating. I relied on the people that I was around to hold me to the experience and help get me through it.

‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Cast and Character Guide — Meet the Heroes and Villains
Image
The Fantastic Four are known are Marvel’s “First Family” but this summer, they will technically be newbies to the MCU. Of course, we’re using that term very loosely.

As the nickname denotes, the characters are true Marvel icons and the actors playing the core four are anything but newbies, each starring in massive projects before now. But more on that momentarily. For now, we’re here to tell you that “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is starting to become a bit clearer, especially with the latest trailer.

Set to hit theaters on July 25, the film takes place “against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world” and follows the Fantastic Four as they take on the Devourer of Worlds — Galactus.

Here is who you need to know in the film.

Watch the trailer for the second (and final) season of The Sandman
Image
The Sandman is an epic comic book about Dream (Tom Sturridge), one of several eternal beings who together preside over different aspects of the human condition. The comic was written by Neil Gaiman, who has been accused of sexual assault. That scandal may have something to do with why Netflix is only producing one more season of the show, even though the comic runs for 10 volumes. Netflix just dropped a teaser trailer for the second and final season, which is coming out in July:

Specifically, the first six episodes will drop on July 3 while the final five will follow on July 24. The teaser trailer shows a scene from the fourth volume of the series, Season of Mists, where Dream and the rest of the Endless siblings meet for the first time in centuries. I imagine they'll cut and condense a lot of the story to reach a conclusion. There are...

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Trailer Introduces Us To Marvel's First Family...And The Silver Surfer!
Image
With all eyes set to be on Star Wars Celebration from tomorrow, Marvel Studios has taken us to another Galaxy Far, Far Away today with the new trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

The sneak peek better establishes the dynamic between Mister Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch, and The Thing, and confirms the movie's worst-kept secret: Sue Storm is pregnant.

We also get to see the heroes in action, including Reed Richards' stretchy powers. He was the only member of the team not to display his abilities in the teaser, leading to theories that this Variant might be powerless; thankfully, that's not the case.

Easily the biggest talking point is the appearance of the McU's female Silver Surfer. The character, played by Julia Garner, looks pretty incredible and is shown here doing the bidding of Galactus. Alas, Marvel Studios is keeping the World Eater under wraps as...

Final ‘Thunderbolts*’ Trailer Turns Marvels Most Unlikely Team of Baddies Into Heroes
Image
Thunderbolts* just got its most exciting look yet as things finally wind down for Captain America: Brave New World, which is set to exit theaters soon. Marvel Studios has released the final trailer for the upcoming team-up film, which is set to Queen’s iconic song, “Under Pressure.” The trailer features a callback to Black Widow (2021), the first film to feature Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, who will reprise her role in Thunderbolts*. It also provides a new look at Geraldine Viswanathan’s character, who is on the phone with Bucky (Sebastian Stan). But, more than anything, the new Thunderbolts* trailer takes this lovable band of misfits and anti-heroes and turns them into a group of heroes that will work together and try to defeat Sentry (Lewis Pullman).

One of the biggest knocks against the MCU in the Multiverse Saga has been the lack of connectivity and stories with character crossovers.

Here’s All You Need To Know About Fantastic Four: First Steps!(Photo Credit –Facebook)

The Fantastic Four are back! After years of being rebooted, forgotten, and then rebooted again, Marvel is giving the iconic team a fresh shot in the MCU. With the Disney/Fox merger shaking things up, Marvel’s got the green light to bring some of Fox’s beloved characters into their universe, and guess who’s making the cut? Yep, the Fantastic Four.

This team isn’t new to the silver screen, though. They first tried to make a splash in 1994 with a movie that never actually saw the light of day. Then, they got a real shot in 2005 with Fantastic Four and again in 2015 with a highly forgettable reboot. But now, they...

Spotlighting director Matt Shakman ahead of The Fantastic Four: First Steps
Image
Director Matt Shakman has been directing TV shows in a variety of genres since 2002. Among his many projects have been instantly recognizable shows such as Boston Legal, Six Feet Under, Ugly Betty, House, Mad Men, and American Gothic. Now he's taking on directing duties for his first big-budget Hollywood film with Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

But First Steps is not Shakman's first Marvel Studios project as he also directed the wildly successful and critically acclaimed Disney Plus series WandaVision, which took the world by storm in 2021. Shakman certainly knows his way around a superhero or fantasy script. In addition to his WandaVision directing credits, he also directed two episodes of season 7 of Game of Thrones in 2017 ("The Spoils of War" and "Eastwatch"). "The Spoils of War" in particular boasted an incredible nail-biting scene in which Jamie Lannister came dangerously close to killing Daenerys, while she was grounded...

‘It Was Really Intimidating’: Pedro Pascal Talks Pressures of Playing the MCU’s Mister Fantastic

Golden Globe nominee Pedro Pascal has addressed the pressures that come with getting cast as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The fan-favorite hero was previously played by Alex Hyde-White in the 1994 movie, Ioan Gruffudd in Fox’s first Fantastic Four movies, Miles Teller in Fox’s 2015 reboot, and John Krasinski in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

During a recent interview with EW, Pascal opened up about the “intimidating” feeling of delivering a performance that would live up to fans’ expectations of Reeds Richards/Mister Fantastic. Pedro Pascal On The “Really Intimidating” Process Of Embodying Reed Richards In ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’
Image
Pedro Pascal is no stranger to stepping into genre entertainment and franchise-spanning worlds, but he admitted his latest foray — the forthcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps — was “really intimidating.”

The latest MCU entry, due in theaters July 25 and helmed by three-time Emmy nominee Matt Shakman, marks the fourth attempt to translate the original comic book characters to the silver screen. This time, the action will take place in an alternate history/parallel universe set in the ’60s, offering a retrofuturistic environment for stars Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Pascal.

“It was really intimidating,” Pascal told Entertainment Weekly of being cast as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, the de-facto leader of the familial superhero clan.

The experience, he told the publication for its themed cover story, brought to mind previous large-scale roles: “I relied on the people that I was around to hold me to the experience and help get me through it.

'Is That Sexy These Days?': Fantastic Four: First Steps Star Explains Modernizing the 'Womanizing' Johnny Storm

The Fantastic Four: First Steps director Matt Shakman and Johnny Storm/The Human Torch actor Joseph Quinn delved into changes to The Master of Flame. This comes after Shakeman touched upon multiversal details for The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Shakman and Quinn brought this subject up in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, with Quinn asserting that Johnny is "a man that leads with a lot of bravado, which can be an affront sometimes," but he's also funny. Quinn went on to further note, "Myself and [Marvel Studios boss] Kevin [Feige] were speaking about previous iterations of him and where we are culturally. He was branded as this womanizing, devil-may-care guy, but is that sexy these days? I don't think so. The film, directed by WandaVision'sMatt Shakman, takes Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben back to the retro-futurist optimism of the 1960s—with a twist. It’s not our '60s, but one from a parallel Earth in the multiverse where utopian ideas actually became real. It's a big role for a man used to performing on the biggest stage, but stepping into Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps as Reed Richards, a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic? That, even for him, was daunting, as he told EW.

“It was really intimidating. You really want to make people happy, especially if it’s...

Fantastic Woke: Joseph Quinn Doesn’t Find Chris Evans’ Human Torch Sexy Because He Was a Womanizer
Image
Ever since Deadpool & Wolverine brought back Chris Evans as the Human Torch, fans have been hit with a wave of nostalgia. It turns out that people might have missed seeing him as a charming, slightly sleezy hothead more than the beloved Captain America.

Now, as Marvel gears up for the release of the much-hyped Fantastic Four: The First Steps, Joseph Quinn is suiting up to take on the role of Johnny Storm. And he’s bringing the heat in a whole new way.

In a recent interview, Quinn shared that his version of Johnny Storm is ditching the old-school ladies’ man persona. This time around, the Human Torch won’t be all about cheesy pick-up lines and flirting with every woman in sight. Here is more on that!

How 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' Pulled Off Galactus' Epic Scale
Image
In a cinematic universe where motion-capture performances are often used (to great success), The Fantastic Four: First Steps director Matt Shakman wanted to do something different. When it came time to bring the movie's villain — Galactus, Destroyer of Worlds — to life, the retro-futuristic tinged film chose to do something decidedly retro, by making at least part of actor Ralph Ineson's performance rendered in practical effects. Which is wild when you consider the sheer size of a villain who is capable of holding entire worlds in the palm of his hands.

Galactus, a former mortal turned behemoth celestial entity that defies the logic of space and time, is a big boy. And he feeds his size (and power) through the consumption of entire planets. Donning purple-and-blue armor in the comics, the 2007 film, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, turned Galactus into little more than a faceless space cloud.

Why Doctor Doom isn’t the villain in The Fantastic Four: First Steps
Image
The Fantastic Four: First Step will finally introduce Marvel’s first family to the MCU, but the film won’t include Doctor Doom as the main villain. Instead, we’ll finally get a comic-accurate take of Galactus the Devourer of Worlds. While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, director Matt Shakman explained why they didn’t go with Doctor Doom.

“Doom’s a great character, but he takes up a lot of air,” Shakman said. “Other film adaptations have done both an origin story and Doom. We’re doing neither, and that allows us to look at them from a fresh perspective.“

Although Doctor Doom won’t be featured in The Fantastic Four: First Steps (although I’d be shocked if Robert Downey Jr.’s take on the character didn’t show up in a post-credit sequence), the foursome will meet up with the good doctor in Avengers: Doomsday.

'The Way Kubrick Would Have Made It': Fantastic Four Director Teases a Grounded Sci-Fi Movie
Image
Director Matt Shakman explained how The Fantastic Four: First Steps' self-contained universe is unique from other MCU realities. Heavily inspired by the aesthetic of 60s science-fiction movies, First Steps will be as overwhelmingly retro-futuristic as the Fantastic Four comics.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is a homage to 60s space movies, especially Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. "I really wanted it to feel like it was made in 1965, the way Stanley Kubrick would have made it," director Matt Shakman told Empire. "Within reason." Fans are in for a visual treat, as many of the scenes in First Steps will feature practical props and sets; Shakman confirmed the spaceship depicted in the trailer was filmed with a 14-foot-tall miniature. "[We] used old lenses, and taken an approach to filmmaking that feels more of the time," he added. "Of course, we still have a lot of CG."

The film's retro-futuristic aesthetic...

Matt Shakman’s Comment Ends Debate Over Robert Downey Jr.’s Cameo in ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’
Image
From Doctor Strange 2 to No Way Home to Deadpool & Wolverine, post-Endgame, the MCU has largely strayed away from self-contained stories in favor of interconnected narratives for the most part. Moreover, with Avengers: Doomsday just a year away, many expected Matt Shakman’s Fantastic Four: First Steps to lean toward this trend, especially given the factions’ ties to Doom in the comics.

However, it seems the introduction of the MCU’s first family might be a rarity when it comes to major MCU releases in recent years. As per the filmmaker, First Steps will be entirely its own thing.

Fantastic Four: First Steps will be devoid of any cameos

With The Fantastic Four: First Steps currently slated as the last big-screen MCU entry before Doomsday, it’s easy to see why many felt this movie might incorporate other notable MCU figures,...

'I Don’t Think I’m Speaking Out of School': The Fantastic Four Star Reveals Key Differences Between First Steps and Other MCU Movies
Image
Paul Walter Hauser won't stop hyping The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The actor recently shared some more details about the upcoming superhero movie, revealing that it brings back something that has been missing in recent Marvel Cinematic Universe movies: characters that you can't help but fall in love with.

During an appearance on Sam Roberts’ Show on SiriusXM, Hauser addressed the ongoing struggles Marvel Studios has faced during the Multiverse Saga, with several of its movies underperforming/flopping at the box office and/or receiving less than glowing reviews, noting that the studio was now in a "cool rebuilding phase." He added, "I don’t think I’m speaking out of school. And I think, from what I’ve seen, and obviously I can’t say much about it, but I will say the short time I was on set, dude, they’re making a cool movie, man. This is a smart,...

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Star Paul Walter Hauser Teases "Smart, Chic Marvel" Movie Focused On Family
Image
Marvel Studios has assembled an undeniably impressive cast for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, with Paul Walter Hauser (Cruella) among those set to take on mystery roles in the MCU reboot.

The prevailing theory is that he's playing the villainous Mole Man. While Hauser wouldn't be drawn on sharing details about his character, he made it clear that the enormity of this franchise, and the Fantastic Four, in particular, is not lost on him.

"I kind of look at it like you have to earn that by being really good, too. Because anybody will do a Marvel thing now," he explained. "Like, Denzel [Washington] might be in 'Black Panther 3.' There’s been rumors about that, him and Coogler wanting to do that. And it’s like, well, if they can get Denzel, they don’t need you."

"You got invited to the party," Hauser continued. "Show up, be professional,...

New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Set Leaks Hint at Possible Connection To ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Reality

Fantastic Four: First Steps and Avengers: Doomsday are shaping up to be two of the most anticipated entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s next chapter. First Steps will finally introduce Marvel’s “First Family, Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm—into the MCU.

And if the growing number of rumors are to be believed, the film may also mark the debut of one of Marvel’s most iconic villains: Doctor Doom. Adding fuel to the fire, there are reports that Robert Downey Jr. will appear in a cameo role, possibly teasing deeper multiversal connections.

The movie is set on a retro-futuristic Earth inspired by the 1960s—a unique setting that already sets it apart visually from anything we’ve seen in the MCU so far. Filming began on July 30, 2024, at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England, a familiar production hub for Marvel films.

1 Major Aspect in Other MCU Films Will Be Totally Absent in Fantastic Four: First Steps, Director Confirms
Image
The Fantastic Four: First Steps director Matt Shakman delved into new multiversal details for it. This comes after Paul Walter Hauser professed that The Fantastic Four: First Steps will "go down in history."

Shakman brought this subject up in an interview with Empire Online, avouching that The Fantastic Four: First Steps is "[its] own universe," which he professed is wonderful and liberating. He went on to further note, "There's really no [other] superheroes. There's no Easter eggs. There's no running into Iron Man or whatever. They're it, in this universe. I love the interconnected Marvel Universe, but we get to do something so new and so different. Eventually this world will meet up with other worlds — but for now this is our own little corner."

This is very different from other MCU films, which are typically filled with Easter eggs and references to other MCU installments.

Prior to this, Shakman delved into...

“We are our own universe, which is wonderful and liberating,” the filmmaker said of the blockbuster, which takes place in a different reality than the rest of Marvel‘s movies and TV shows, in an interview with Empire out Friday. “There’s really no [other] superheroes. There’s no Easter eggs. There’s no running into Iron Man or whatever. They’re it in this universe. I love the interconnected Marvel Universe, but we get to do something so new and so different.”

The Fantastic Four: First Steps- Director Matt Shakman Promises a Super-Charged Return to Retro Future, Says, “It’s a combination of Marvel and Apollo 11”

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Poster, Stills, And New Multiversal Details Revealed By Matt Shakman
Image
Today is 4/4, and to celebrate, Marvel Studios has released a new poster for this July's The Fantastic Four: First Steps. We'd hoped for a trailer, though that's likely to be saved for closer to Thunderbolts*'s release early next month.

Empire Online has also shared two new stills from the movie showcasing Marvel's First Family in their spacesuits; this is obviously pre-transformation as Ebon Moss-Bachrach is still in Ben Grimm mode, not The Thing.

"This is very much about the spirit of the Space Race," filmmaker Matt Shakman told the site. "It's about JFK and optimism. It’s imagining these four going into space instead of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin."

"This idea is that they are the most famous people in America, because they’re adventurers, explorers, astronauts - not because they're superheroes. And they come back and they're superheroes on top of it. But primarily they're astronauts, they're family.

Check Out Ben Grimm Before He Becomes The Thing in New ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Image
Image
A new image from The Fantastic Four: First Steps has been released, and it features two of the brave astronauts who will venture out into space before gaining their powers. In most iterations of the story, Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal) and Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) have been friends for a very long time. Their bond is what convinces Grimm to take on the dangerous mission that eventually turns him into The Thing. The new image from The Fantastic Four: First Steps shows the characters before the trip that changes their lives forever. Nothing will ever be the same for Marvel's first family.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps will also feature Vanessa Kirbyas Sue Storm and Joseph Quinnas the character's brother, Johnny. Kirby has displayed her incredible acting skills on The Crown and the Mission: Impossible franchise. Joseph Quinn's popularity grew when he starred as Eddy Munson in the fourth season of Stranger Things.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Is A ‘60s Space-Race Movie Shot ‘The Way Kubrick Would Have Made It’
Image
In the very near future, Marvel’s First Family will finally come home. It is just four months until The Fantastic Four: First Steps debuts — the culmination of a long-held desire of Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige to bring the iconic superhero team into the Marvel Cinematic Universe fold. But in order to realise this future, the film is going back into the past: setting it all in an alternate retro-futurist strand of the multiverse, an alternate mid-20th century where art deco and sci-fi rub shoulders. And, as Empire’s exclusive pics show, before they became the Fantastic Four, the gang — Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn) — were simply four extremely clever and capable astronauts, who embarked on a perilous mission into space, and accidentally gained superpowers in the process.

The film, says director Matt Shakman, is looking...

Explosive ‘Fantastic Four’ Trailer Reveals First Look at Female Silver Surfer

Marvel’s First Family arrived in Las Vegas, with new footage from Fantastic Four: First Steps unveiled at CinemaCon.

Kevin Feige introduced the footage in a video segment. The Marvel Studios boss started his spiel by noting that his team is “mere days away from principal photography” on Avengers: Doomsday, which has the Russo brothers directing and features Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps, meanwhile, stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing.

In the new trailer, which was not released online, Reed Richards and Sue Storm learn that they are expecting a baby, leading to a conflicted reaction. “We can do this,” Kirby says reassuringly.
