Several stars from Marvel's highly-anticipated Black Panther movie took to Twitter this morning to unveil 11 new character posters from this highly-anticipated comic book adventure. Stars such as Chadwick Boseman (T'challa), Andy Serkis (Ulysses Klaue), Angela Bassett (Ramonda), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Forest Whitaker (Zuri), Danai Gurira (Okoye) and Lupita Nyong'o (Nakia) debuted their new posters through their official Twitter accounts, while the Marvel and Black Panther Twitter accounts debuts posters for Michael B. Jordan (Erik Killmonger), Winston Duke (M'Baku), Daniel Kaluya (W'kabi) and Martin Freeman (Everett K. Ross).
While most of these posters don't offer much in the way of new details about these characters, it's worth noting that the Ulysses Klaue poster features a glimpse at the character's prosthetic hand. You may recall that, shortly after meeting this Wakandan character in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron, he became the latest Marvel character to lose a limb, after Ultron (James Spader...

The annual honorary Governors Awards are when Oscar lobbyists see the first results of the season, and this batch is notable for its global diversity: a Belgian woman filmmaker, a Canadian movie star, and an African-American director. The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voted September 5, and they go to actor Donald Sutherland, writer-director Agnes Varda, and American independent filmmaker Charles Burnett and cinematographer Owen Roizman.
The statues will be presented November 11 at the 9th annual Governors Awards ceremony at Hollywood & Highland.
“This year’s Governors Awards reflect the breadth of international, independent and mainstream filmmaking, and are tributes to four great artists whose work embodies the diversity of our shared humanity,” said Academy president John Bailey.

Walt Disney Studios used a portion of their live action panel during their fan expo, D23, to set the record straight on some recent rumors. "Some of which are true and some of which are not," president Sean Bailey explained.
What's not true? Rumors that the studio is having troubles casting the live-action Aladdin. Mena Massoud will play the titular prince of thieves, Naomi Scott (Power Rangers) is playing Jasmine and Will Smith indeed has been cast as the Genie. This new iteration will pull from the animated classic, as well as folk tales of The One Thousand and One Nights.

Broken’s storytelling, writing and performances are first rate. Here’s our review of its penultimate series 1 episode…

Despite being led by a bona fide movie star, Broken isn’t a showy drama. It doesn’t inspire hashtags or memes, or attract the sort of headlines and fanfare of other TV programmes. Instead, every Tuesday at 9pm, quietly and deliberately, it breaks our hearts.
With good reason. Broken has a job to do and each week sets about doing it with dreadful efficiency. Through an anthology of stories showcasing the pressures in play on everyday people from within and without, it aims to create empathy and understanding. It keeps breaking our hearts so they heal stronger.

New York is the city that never sleeps, and with so many events and activities each week across all five boroughs, it can be hard to know what’s actually worthwhile. Here are the events New York City actors should have on their radars this week. March with (gay) pride. At a time when equal rights are, unfortunately, under siege, it has never been more necessary for the Lgbtq community and its allies to stand strong. New York City’s Gay Pride March will strut the streets of Manhattan on June 25, beginning at 36th St. and Fifth Ave., and traveling southbound until it reaches Christopher St. in the historic Greenwich Village. Be loud; be proud. (And keep in mind surrounding bars in the area very often have drink specials to honor the momentous event!) (Free) Savor Sondheim without bells 'n whistles. Returning to Feinstein’s/54 Below for its seventh installment on June 25, “Sondheim Unplugged” will once again deliver selections from the songbook of one of the American theater’s greatest composers, Stephen Sondheim. Featuring cast members from original Broadway productions of “Into the Woods” and “Sweeney Todd,” this is a can’t-miss event for anyone...

It’s one hell of a journey into oblivion – pure teen angst on speed. With an excellent debut performance from Rose McGowan. Araki takes viewers on a voyage into mayhem. Jordan White (James Duval) and Amy Blue (McGowan) , two troubled teens, pick up an adolescent drifter, Xavier Red (Johnathon Schaech). This will be Gary Oldman’s year to get that elusive Oscar trophy.
In Darkest Hour, the veteran thespian will portray for the former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. In this complex role, Oldman is completely unrecognizable as the charismatic leader during World War II.
Darkest Hour is written by Anthony McCarten (The Theory of Everything) and directed by Joe Wright (Atonement, Pride & Prejudice). The story follows Churchill in the early days of World War II as he leads the opposition against Adolf Hitler.
The film also stars Lily James, Ben Mendelsohn, Kristin Scott Thomas and John Hurt as one of his last roles.
At CinemaCon 2017 last week, Lrm caught up with Gary Oldman on the red carpet before the Focus Features’ celebratory event in Las Vegas.
Oldman was kind enough to go into detail of his lengthy transformation into the respected historical figure.
Focus Features will be releasing the trailer at a later date.

It's funny, it's moving, it's brilliant: we look back at Brassed Off, starring the late, great Pete Postlethwaite...
This article contains spoilers for Brassed Off and The Full Monty.
“If this lot were seals or whales, you'd all be up in bloody arms. But they're not, are they? No, no they're not. They're just ordinary common-or-garden honest, decent human beings. And not one of them with an ounce of bloody hope left”. – Danny, Brassed Off
One of the things that I love about a certain subset of contemporary British comedies is their core of steel. That, hiding underneath some often very hefty belly laughs, there’s a political story, a foundation of social outrage, and a desire to address through cinema issues that often get swept under the carpet. It’s what keeps such films in my mind, long after the latest R-rated comedy screen filler has...

The second spin-off from NCIS (and technically the third from Jag – which is where the original NCIS series was spun out of), NCIS New Orleans is a very different beast to its predecessors. Whereas the first show was a stoic, patriotic series; and the second was more action and comedy orientated; this third entry in the franchise takes things a more quirky and offbeat direction.
Set in New Orleans the show uses its new location to create a different feel straight away. The fact that Scott Bakula is heading the team as Dwayne Pride adds a certain edge to it. Fans of cult television shows will always know him for Quantum Leap, and he manages to bring attention to the show just from that. To be fair though there is much more to NCIS New Orleans to keep people invested, including another interesting cast choice: Lucas Black, known to fans...

Move over Leo and Eddie. It’s female stars who will dominate next year’s releases
One runs a ruthless mob. Another commands an army. They’re wielding guns, swords and fury, and fighting everything from zombies to corporate capitalism. Another slew of male-dominated films? Not quite. Some of the most exciting, diverse and original characters to be depicted on screen for years are going to be played by women. Let’s hear it for the new female role models: the superheroines.
The mob leader, in something of a departure for her, is Kate Winslet. In February, she plays Russian-Israeli mafia moll Irene in the heist thriller Triple 9. In April, Helen Mirren stars as a military intelligence officer in drama Eye in the Sky. In Pride, Prejudice and Zombies, Lily James’s shiny new Elizabeth Bennett joins Mr Darcy not in the ballroom but on the battlefield, taking on an army of the undead.

The 2015 awards season kicks off this evening with the Golden Globes, which will – if nothing else – set a sky-high benchmark for the hosts to follow thanks to the returning wonder-duo of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
With just under two months still to go until the Oscars, the race is still relatively open and the prediction game is even more based on guesswork and conjecture than it will be come February 21. But we're partial to a bit of guesswork and conjecture, particularly where the Hollywood Foreign Press Association are concerned.
Below are Digital Spy's bets for the movie categories at this evening's ceremony.

The 2015 Golden Globe Awards will be held Sunday night, January 11 and we will be live-blogging the event and if you missed any of our previous award show live blogs just click here for a taste of what it's all about. However, before Sunday arrives I feel I must remedy something I neglected last year before the Globes, which is to not only offer my predictions, but give you the readers a chance to vote on yours. The voting each year is always fun to watch, most specifically because you guys always tend to collectively beat me. This year, however, seems like it might be a bit tough. To begin, the Best Picture categories alone can be a bit tricky. I think Boyhood is the obvious pick to win the Drama category, but I could see both The Imitation Game and even Selma taking this one. A Selma win would also...

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association unveiled the nominees for the group's 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards — aka Hollywood's drunkest night — Thursday morning. And in the aggregate, there aren't a lot of major takeaways in terms of changing the landscape of the Oscar race. Just a general further sculpting of the clay we already have on the table. The Best Picture - Drama category was marked by the three-horse race as I defined it recently: "Boyhood," "The Imitation Game" and "Selma" (which really needed the boost this morning, and happily showed up in the Best Director category, too). Finding room besides was "Foxcatcher" (a surprise for me as I heard the group didn't like the film) and "The Theory of Everything." So if you're keeping track, on the sidelines was "Gone Girl" (though David Fincher landed a director nod and the screenplay and score were chalked up alongside Rosamund Pike), "Whiplash" and…...

Gugu Mbatha-Raw — whose name is short for Gugulethu, which is Zulu for “Our Pride” — is quickly showing her versatility as an actress portraying an 18th century aristocrat and a hip-hop star over the course of a year. Mbatha-Raw (pronounced em-bah-tah raw) has been highly praised for both roles and is showing no signs of slowing down.
Mbatha-Raw was trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London and in 2009, she starred alongside Jude Law in Hamlet on Broadway.
Prior to her stint on Broadway, she appeared in various television shows and movies, including Doctor Who in 2007.
She followed her Broadway performance with roles in the 2011 film Larry Crowne, with Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts, and she played one half of the undercover husband-and-wife CIA team in NBC’s Undercovers. Benedict Cumberbatch is everywhere. He's got no fewer than three films coming out between now and the end of the year, with Oscar-tipped biopic The Imitation Game in cinemas now, and The Penguins of Madagascar and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies imminent.
After months of speculation surrounding the casting of Marvel's next superhero Doctor Strange, fresh reports have emerged linking Cumberbatch to the coveted role, although nothing has yet been confirmed. There's also the small matter of his recent engagement, which was announced in a characteristically classy manner earlier this month.
It would be easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of Cumberexposure. But fear not – Digital Spy's handy A-z guide is here to fill in the gaps in your knowledge.

Not every great actor wins an Academy Award. (Rest in peace, Peter O’Toole.*) In fact, simply getting nominated for an Oscar or two might be the truer measure of excellence. There have been plenty of actors with as many Oscar statues as Paul Newman — one! — but few can hold a candle to his nine nominations, which represent a lifetime of brilliance.
But before an actor can pile up multiple nominations like Newman or O’Toole or Al Pacino, he or she needs that first nod. Sounds simple enough. Last year, four actors heard their name called for the first time,...

Next in line to inherit the throne of Royal films is Diana. The film takes audiences into the private realm of one of the world’s most iconic and inescapably public women – the Princess of Wales, Diana (two-time Oscar nominee Naomi Watts) — in the last two years of her meteoric life.
On the occasion of the 16th anniversary of her sudden death, acclaimed director Oliver Hirschbiegel (the Oscar-nominated Downfall) explores Diana’s final rite of passage: a secret love affair with Pakistani heart surgeon Hasnat Khan (Naveen Andrews, “Lost,” The English Patient), the human complications of which reveal the Princess’s climactic days in a compelling new light. Diana is in select theaters now.
As long as filmmakers have been bringing the lives of England’s Kings and Queens to the silver screen have moviegoers been going to the cinemas to be schooled in British Monarchy.

Nom claims Canada imprisoning anti-gay priests, Father Tiger’s “First Love,” and Zachary Quinto hopes Scotus decision is galvanizing
Zachary Quinto says he doesn’t know what the Supreme Court is going to decide, but he’s hopeful for the future when it happens. “We’ll see what happens… I’m certainly not going to hazard against it to say what happens, but I hope it’s a galvanizing moment, and I’m hopeful that [equal marriage] will be supported and we’ll continue to move forward. I think no matter what happens, it’s an unstoppable wave at this point, and I’ve said that before because I really believe it.”
If you’re hoping for Team Gay representation from Teen Wolf at Comic-Con, you’ll have to make due with Max Carver’s Ethan, because Keahu Kahuanui (who was at last night’s Hot 100 party in La) isn’t scheduled to attend.

For reasons that aren't completely clear, Denise Crosby will be the Celebrity Grand Marshall for the Boston Pride Parade. Crosby is most famous as Tasha Yar on Star Trek: The Next Generation, but if she's been an advocate for Glbt rights, I've missed it beyond appearing in Star Trek: Blood and Fire. Still gay geeks are no doubt thrilled.

By Sean O’Connell Hollywoodnews.com: My approach to the Toronto International Film Festival was slightly different from years past. Instead of pausing between screenings to comment on films as they played, I sprinted from one movie to the next, collecting impressions like a kid gathering colorful Easter eggs on a Sunday morning hunt. As a result, I was able to cram 20 movies and a handful of engaging interview opportunities into my five-day Toronto stay. I left Tiff this year with a clearer picture of the ongoing Oscar race (but also acknowledge that there are still so many films left to debut … some of which we’ll see at the New York Film Festival later this month). So, which movie helped their Oscar causes by screening in Toronto? Let’s run through the top titles, and see what kind of buzz they were able to generate. “The Silver Linings Playbook...

New York born director Gavin O’Connor has become something of a man’s man filmmaker with the unapologetically masculine fare ‘Warrior’ and ‘Pride & Glory’ and we expected his testosterone heavy career to continue in the same vein. So consider us a little confused when we read that O’Connor has become attached to direct a studio tentpole about an ageless boy who wears green tights and battles a sea captain from a make believe fantasy universe!
The movie is ‘Neverland’, a Sony Pictures attempt to jump on board the fairytale re-imagining fad that we can all blame on sweet-toothed audiences who put down a billion dollars to see Alice in Wonderland two years ago. An origin of the famous J.M. Barrie story, the movie recounts the early tensions between Peter Pan and Captain Hook which we’ve heard both re-imagines one of literature’s greatest enemies as brothers and is set mostly in London.

At the Academy Awards, Best Picture might be the big prize, but the ones that both the winners and the audience have the most emotional connection to tend to be the acting prizes. Seeing a beloved star, or a fresh-faced newcomer, finally pick up a statue more often than not ends up leading the mainstream media coverage; it's always more moving than some producer's acceptance speech.
This year, we saw Meryl Streep finally win her third, and Christopher Plummer win his first, becoming the oldest actor ever to pick up a statuette. Those might have been predicted a while off by many. Meanwhile, two relative unknowns, Jean Dujardin and Octavia Spencer, also became Oscar-winners. Anyone who claims that they predicted those twelve months ago is a liar. Once again, the awards season can be guessed at, but it also springs up all kinds of surprises.

Every year, brilliant movies are utterly ignored by the Oscars. The Searchers, Groundhog Day, Persona, Breathless, Hoop Dreams, King Kong, Caddyshack — the Academy has a long history of overlooking comedies, action movies, horror flicks, artsy foreign films, and documentaries that aren’t about World War II. This year, we’ll be taking a closer look at films that were too small, too weird, or perhaps simply too awesome for the Academy Awards. These are the Non-Nominees.

Three stories vied for our attention as the Oscar nominations were announced, Spike Lee stormed Sundance and director Theo Angelopoulos died
The big storiesOscar nominations
The glitz! The glamour! The gradual realisation that, as much as you wanted your small-time favourite (Melancholia / Drive / Take Shelter) to win, you can't fight the inevitable! Yes - it's Oscar time again. The nominations were announced this week, with Martin Scorsese's Hugo narrowly pipping The Artist with 11 nods to the silent wonder's 10. We live-blogged the announcement, explained why we think Michel Hazanavicius's film will still win big come February and griped about those that were left out. Join us on 26 February for an all-night bonanza of gowns and gongs, back-slapping and blubbering. It will be just like being in La. But with cynicism.

Alexandra Roach left Rada only last year but the young Welsh actress has had five big parts opposite Hollywood names
Being chosen to appear in a film months after leaving drama college is the dream of every aspiring actor. For Welsh actress Alexandra Roach it is a reality. She is on the brink of international stardom, having been cast in five leading productions just a year after leaving the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (Rada).
Aged 24, Roach's potential has been recognised by some of the industry's foremost directors and producers. She has lead roles in four forthcoming films, and a supporting role in another.
Her break came after she was spotted by Nina Gold, a casting director, in a Rada production, leading to an invitation to audition for one of the most sought-after roles for a young actress – playing the young Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady, the much anticipated...
