Hugh Jackman's Doctor Told Him Not to Sing in The Greatest Showman -- but He Did It Anyway
Hugh Jackman
It’s all the in name of showbiz.

Hugh Jackman revealed that his surgeon advised against him singing in his latest film The Greatest Showman — but the actor did it anyways.

In a video posted to Facebook, Jackman, 49, explained that his doctor was weary about him signing so soon after having skin cancer removed from his nose.

“I had 80 stitches in my nose and my doctor said ‘you’re not allowed to sing,’ ” he said.

But when the cast gathered for the first time in New York City, Jackman couldn’t resist the temptation to show everyone what he’s got.

Meghan Markle's Royal Style Predictions: How the Actress Will Reinvent Princess Fashion
Prince Harry
The Meghan Markle style effect has already begun!

Just one day after she and Prince Harry officially announced their engagement, her white coat by Line the Label and the hunter green P.A.R.O.S.H dress she wore during their first appearance as an engaged couple sold out online on that same day.

From now on, all eyes will certainly be on the 36-year-old Suits star and her attire as she steps out for any upcoming shopping, wedding planning, regular days out and royal engagements. The bride-to-be has previously stated that she defines her style as "relaxed California girl" and "effortless" -- and looking at her previous ensembles, she's all about a good classic white button-up shirt!

"I like to look polished and put together, but for me there's always going to be that effortless quality just coming from L.A.," Markle told Yahoo in 2015 during a New York Fashion Week interview. Meanwhile, the actress...

Rollback Review: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 5
And now we finally get to the best one of all. The true peak of Buffy. The Season where it truly was at its finest hour.

After a shaky Season Four, Buffy returned in style for its fifth season, constructing 22 episodes full of strong characters, a brilliant arc, heartbreaking moments and some of the best hours that the show ever produced. Whilst all the previous Seasons of Buffy had numerous good qualities, it’s fifth just seemed to have everything. From the intense, gripping story-arc of Season Two, to the consistently brilliant episodes of Season Three, to the superb stand-alone hours of Season Four, Season Five is an example of a show at full throttle. It’s brimming with confidence, it knows exactly where it’s taking the story – and explores new routes for our characters that we didn’t even think we’d see.

So, what makes Season Five so great?...

Sean 'Diddy' Combs Changed His Name Again, Sparking Controversy
Sean 'Diddy' Combs at an event for Lawless (2012)
Sean Combs has been known under many different monikers over the past 20 years and he made a huge announcement on his 48th birthday over the weekend. He is no longer going to be known as "Puff Daddy," "P. Diddy," or any of his other names. From now on, he'll be known as Love, aka, Brother Love. But the original Brother Love is taking offense and there's already a popular New York-based singer that has the name as well. Obviously, it's not the first time he's changed his name. In 1997 he was "Puff Daddy," then he went back to "Sean John" in 1998. In 1999, he switched things up to "Puffy," soon after it was "P. Diddy."

Sean "Diddy" Combs took to Twitter on his 48th birthday to announce the name change and mentioned that he's been thinking about it for quite some time. The entertainment mogul had this to say.

"Hey y'all.

black-ish Premiere Recap: Dre Strikes a Hamilton-Inspired Blow for Juneteenth
Aloe Blacc
“As much as I love the Fourth of July, shouldn’t the real independence day be the real day everybody was free?” Dre reasons in black-ish‘s Season 4 premiere. Then, with an argument that’s pretty hard to refute, the ABC comedy points out exactly how much black people have done for the United States of America — and how little acknowledgement they’ve received in return.

After stewing in the audience at Jack and Diane’s school play — a dramatic, sanitized retelling of Columbus’ arrival in America — Dre makes a scene that brings the production to a halt. “I can...

Florida Man Pleads Guilty of Slitting Throats of Wife and Five Young Children in 2009
Daqui P'ra Frente (2007)
A Florida man has pleaded guilty to killing his wife and five children in a grisly 2009 rampage, People confirms.

Mesac Damas, 41, was accused of slitting the throats of his family in their North Naples townhome and then fleeing to Haiti eight years ago. His trial has been repeatedly delayed amidst questions of his mental competency.

On September 18, 2009, authorities arrived at the home for a welfare check. According to a police report obtained by People, cops found the body of 32-year-old Guerline Damas in a downstairs bathroom.

In two upstairs bedrooms, authorities found the bodies of the couple’s 5 children: Michzach,...

The Top Gun Sequel Has An Official Title, And It's Not Just "Top Gun 2"
Yes, after threatening us with a sequel for what seems like over a decade, the second Top Gun film is even closer to coming to fruition. Tom Cruise is officially coming back and Val Kilmer is attached, so Top Gun 2 can complete the time-honored tradition of being a decades-late sequel to a 1980s film. At least now we don't have to call it Top Gun 2 anymore...

Tom Cruise was interviewed by Access Hollywood, where he revealed the title of the Top Gun sequel, reports Entertainment Weekly. From now on, Top Gun 2 will be known by its official title, Top Gun: Maverick. Cruise told Access Hollywood:

“I didn’t want a number. You don’t need a number.”

Though I'm not confident a good sequel to Top Gun can be achieved this many years later, without nostalgia leading to disappointment, I must praise the decision on the title. Numbering sequels drives me crazy,...

The Phoenix Force is Coming Back in New Jean Grey Comic Series
In case anyone reading this is wondering... yes, the old Jean Grey is still dead. It's the young Jean Grey from the past who got sent to the future who has to deal with the Phoenix this time, but could this time be different?

The new Jean Grey (or old depending on how you view time) is very much trying to be her own Jean Grey. Jean Grey knows the other Jean Grey's past and doesn't want to make the same mistakes that Jean Grey made. Wow... That sounded confusing. From now on, we'll just call them Classic Jean and Jean Jr.

Jean Jr. has a history of Classic Jean and knows where her history is headed, but despite that, she wants to be her own person. She doesn't want to deal with dating Cyclops and being possessed by Phoenix, and all that other stuff. She doesn't want to follow in footsteps already walked.

Are you one of the millions impressed by the way that Breath Of The Wild successfully transitioned the Zelda franchise into open-world gaming? We hope so because it's beginning to sound like future Zelda games are going to further Breath Of The Wild's open-world design.

Open World Format Will Likely Be The “Standard Form” For Future The Legend Of Zelda Titles, Says Producer

Despite it having achieved universal acclaim following launch last month, Nintendo took a rather hefty risk with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Link’s latest adventure rewrites the tried and tested formula that’s been adhered to since the Ocarina of Time days, and it appears that one of the most lauded changes – a truly open world sandbox – is here to stay for future entries in the series.

When asked in a recent interview with Famitsu (via IGN) whether future Zelda titles would continue to use the “open-air concept” established with Breath of the Wild, producer Eiji Aonuma said: “From now on, this will probably be the standard form,” adding, “however, eventually that in itself could become seen as ‘Zelda as usual’, and we would...

Ryan Tedder Talks Writing with Pop Royalty (Beyoncé Wears Uggs!) and Reveals the OneRepublic Hit That Surprised Him

When it comes to producing and writing pop hits, Ryan Tedder has “All the Right Moves.”

In addition to fronting the internationally beloved pop-rock act OneRepublic, Tedder has crafted chart-toppers for modern music royalty, from Taylor Swift to mononymous powerhouses Adele and Beyoncé.

But the Oklahoma native, 37, admits some of his songs’ success has caught him off-guard. In 2006, OneRepublic released a stripped-down version of their tune “Apologize” on MySpace, and it became a hit online. But it didn’t break big until the following year, when they teamed up with producer Timbaland to released a synthy version of the track.

Seth Meyers Takes ‘A Closer Look’ at Trump’s Abuses of Presidential Power (Video)
Kellyanne Conway
Seth Meyers invoked his popular segment “A Closer Look” Thursday to drill into President Trump’s recent abuses of power. First, of course, was the well-documented Nordstrom beef over the retailer’s removal of Ivanka Trump’s clothing line. The excellent “Late Night” writers compared Trump’s now-infamous tweet against the popular mall store to a letter Abraham Lincoln definitely never wrote to some hat-makers. The group also ganged up on Kellyanne Conway’s ethically borderline-at-best (and straight-up illegal at worst) endorsement for the brand during a Fox News Channel interview. “From now on, the only network Kellyanne Conway should be allowed on is QVC,...

Cate Blanchett doesn’t play 13 characters so much as embody 13 different ideas and approaches to 20th century art in Manifesto, German video artist Julian Rosefeldt’s feature-length version of his eponymous, multi-screen installation from 2015. The texts all come from art manifestos but are put in the mouth of often very surprising characters. The film thus features a homeless person raving about Situationism; a tattooed rock chick screaming about Stridentism; a funeral speaker extolling Dada — “From now on, we want to shit in different colors,” she intones — and a conservative mother delivering a prayer on Pop Art before the family’s...

Hilarious First Trailer for Drew Barrymore's Zombie Sitcom Santa Clarita Diet with Nathan Fillion
"From now on, we fuck everything up together."

The first trailer has been released for Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant's upcoming Netflix zombie comedy series Santa Clarita Diet, and it's hilarious! This looks like it's going to be an incredibly fun and entertaining series, and it was a very pleasant surprise to see that Nathan Fillion makes an appearance! I'm not sure how big of a role he'll have in the series, but it's still awesome to see him in this trailer. Hopefully, he's a series regular.

In the series, Barrymore and Olyphant play Sheila and Joel, a married couple, who are real estate agents in Santa Clarita, California. Things take a dark turn for them when Sheila goes through a “dramatic change” and becomes a flesh-eating zombie. It's explained that "while they tend to their open houses and teenage daughter, the couple must sate Sheila’s unbridled id and undead hunger,...

It's Time For Video Games To Make A Change... For Free
Final Fantasy Xv

If you play video games, or know someone that plays, you might be familiar with something called Downloadable Content (Dlc). Part of this new age of video game consoles is the ability to update games, often improving them, and even adding content to the games. Now, sometimes that content is already there, and the maker just wants to charge you extra to unlock it. But, let's not get ahead of ourselves. First, let's address the joy Dlc brought to our lives.

Before an evil corporate warlord changed things, there were moments of paradise. Free levels added to your favorite video game because the maker wanted players to keep playing. What?! That's insane. And, as someone who played Gears of War heavily during the initial trilogy, gamers could not have been happier. Fan appreciation is something companies don't see enough value in. Every now and again, it rears...

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip Travel to Sandringham For Christmas Amid Concerns For Their Health
Prince Philip
When you're the queen of England, you can do anything you want, even it means delaying Christmas. Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip usually travel to their Sandringham country estate to celebrate the holidays each year by train, but they decided to cancel their trip since both came down with "heavy colds," according to Buckingham Palace. Luckily the entire holiday wasn't derailed, though, since the royal pair were feeling well enough to travel by Thursday. "I can confirm that The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh have left Buckingham Palace and are traveling to Sandringham," a palace spokesperson said. Instead of heading to Sandringham by train, they'll reach their destination by helicopter. Maybe Prince William can be their pilot? Amid the recent concerns for the royals' health, it was revealed that the queen will be stepping down from 25 patronages this year, which includes the responsibility of multiple organizations in the UK.

The Twelve Days of Classic Christmas Movies – vote for your favourite!
Author: Cai Ross

Christmastime is here. Presumably you already have chestnuts roasting on an open fire, a turkey and some mistletoe, and your first screaming argument about who’s cooking for who and where. ’Tis the season for such timeless traditions, and along with a collective craving for manifestly ill-judged food combinations and a moratorium on our disapproval of comedy knitwear, classic Christmas movies are now a vital part of the great yuletide experience.

But what precisely is a classic Christmas movie? Timeless vintage offerings like Holiday Inn and Miracle on 34th Street are stuffed from titles to credits with all things Christmassy, yet you’ll also find films like Casablanca and The Great Escape on many festive film lists, which have nothing more to do with Christmas than Cannibal Holocaust.

Even the single greatest ‘Christmas Movie’ of all time, It’s a Wonderful Life has a pretty tenuous connection with the Holiday Season,...

DVD & Blu-rays: R.I.P Herschell Gordon Lewis, Howling 2: Your Sister Is A Werewolf
Nick Aldwinckle Nov 24, 2016

The Bottom Shelf returns, with a video nasty, The Howling 2, and a tribute to the late Herschell Gordon Lewis...

To most, September 26th is the date when, in 1680, the Dutch city Gorinchem suffered a citizen’s revolt due to an imposed tax on cereal. From now on, though, that will change, as any right-thinking person will remember that date in 2016 as the day The Godfather Of Gore, the great Herschell Gordon Lewis, died.

The brain behind a range of vintage cult classics, spanning the gamut of exploitation cinema, from splatter movies to comedy erotica and supernatural witchcraft thriller (niche!), Lewis’ influential sixties and seventies productions paved the way for the video nasties of the eighties and the gory likes of David Cronenberg and Peter Jackson and stand up today as camp, gawdy historical documents of a bygone era. As such, to coincide with an impeccably timed release...

Scream Queens Season 2 Episode 2 Review: Warts and All
Chad Radwell is back in town, and boy, was he sorely missed.

Scream Queens Season 2 Episode 2 saw the return of several familiar faces, rounding out what appears to be the principal cast of the current season. This smaller cast is definitely doing wonders for the show – clearly, the writers realized that they have to capitalize on their best actors and chemistry.

Scream Queens Season 2 has quickly fallen into a pattern – which is actually not at all a bad thing, as it gives the show a sense of structure that it definitely lacked in Scream Queens Season 1.

There is the larger arc of the Green Meanie killer, which is inching along week by week. But there is also each installment’s individual subplot – the “patient of the week” case.

Munsch wasn’t kidding around when she explained her desire to “cure the incurable.” Thus far, only the most eccentric (and, usually,...

John Oliver in Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (2014)
We all know you shouldn't wear white after Labor Day – but why stop there?

In a new web-exclusive video, Last Week Tonight host John Oliver has some hilarious suggestions for turning holidays into random deadlines.

"We should be using more holidays as arbitrary points to stop doing things," says the talk show host.

The Nate Parker Effect: Will Indie Buyers Start Vetting Filmmakers?
Nate Parker
Movie buyers and sellers headed to next week’s Toronto International Film Festival are buzzing about a possible Nate Parker effect on the market. Given the firestorm that has surrounded “The Birth of a Nation” director, co-writer and star after Fox Searchlight paid an historic $17.5 million for the film at Sundance, numerous industry insiders told TheWrap that they expect filmmakers to undergo a rigorous vetting process before companies close distribution deals at Tiff and beyond. “From now on, any legal division could make a vet a standard decision,” said one top agent with several high-profile sales titles in Toronto. Killjoys Season 2 Episode 6 Review: I Love Lucy
Fembot Lucy was everything. And that kiss, you guys! 'Nuff said.

How do Michelle Lovretta and her writing team manage to cram so much sci-fi goodness into one episode? Every week I say, "That was my favorite Killjoys episode." This week with Killjoys Season 2 Episode 6, it's absolutely true.

Tons of new info was revealed. Yeah this was a good one!

This episode's opening echoed the nasty Skeevers of the last installment, only slightly more fun. For a moment, I had no idea who the hooded dude was though he sounded like D'avin. "You gave me acid?" D'av asked the old trickster.

Wasn't it hilarious the way the old fart took off thinking he'd outsmarted a pair of Killjoys? Good thing little brother was around and had a plan. Those brotherly moments between Luke and Aaron are super believable. They're a blast to watch!

Throw Dutch into the mix and that's...

Elliot Page and Evan Rachel Wood in Into the Forest (2015)
‘Into The Forest’ Review: This Post-Apocalyptic Feminist Drama Gets Lost In The Woods
Elliot Page and Evan Rachel Wood in Into the Forest (2015)
Early in Patricia Rozema’s “Into the Forest,” an intimate sci-fi portrait of sisterhood which has been adapted from Jean Hegland’s 1996 novel of the same name, one of the film’s few male characters casually declares that it’s the end of the world. He may not be wrong: It’s been 10 days since an unexplained power outage has sent the entire country back to the Stone Age, and there doesn’t seem to be any hope that the lights will come back on again anytime soon.

In northern California, where Eva (Evan Rachel Wood) and her younger sister Nell (Ellen Page) live in a secluded glass house with their dad (Callum Keith Rennie), our precariously fragile civilization has already started to crumble. And yet — after the man of the house dies in a freak accident and the two girls are left to care for themselves — hints begin to...

Taylor Swift at an event for 2019 Golden Globe Awards (2019)
Why Taylor Swift's Claim of "Character Assassination" Is Valid but Hypocritical
Taylor Swift at an event for 2019 Golden Globe Awards (2019)
Image Source: Getty / Frazer Harrison I think we can all agree that this hasn't been the easiest couple of months for Taylor Swift. From her nasty breakup with Calvin Harris, plus speculation that her new relationship with Tom Hiddleston is all for show, it seems like every week brings more drama for the "Bad Blood" singer. Most recently, Kim Kardashian leaked video footage that ultimately caught Taylor in a lie (the lie being that she did in fact receive a phone call from Kanye West about the lyric in his song "Famous"). I don't think that Kanye recording Taylor's phone call without her knowledge was the smartest decision (mostly because it's, um, kind of illegal), but when Taylor released a statement via Instagram in which she described being "falsely painted as a liar" as "character assassination," my eyes rolled. Hard. Let me start by saying that as an artist, Taylor Swift...

The Fosters Season 4 Episode 3 Review: Trust
Good grief, the Fosters can't ever seem to catch a break!

To be fair, if their lives were all sunshine and rainbows, there wouldn't be anything worth watching. The Fosters Season 4 Episode 3 was not nearly as intense as the previous two episodes, but it was far from sunshine and rainbows.

Watch The Fosters Season 4 Episode 3 Online

If there was a competition on which Foster was suffering the most, it would definitely be between Marianna and Lena. The show is doing a fantastic job with the aftermath of  the Nick situation.

My heart aches for Lena. She's trying so desperately to keep it together, but she's genuinely afraid. She's throwing everything she has into making sure their home and the school are safe. She's traumatized!

Lena obsessively checking in on the kids at home was devastating. She's insistent that they install a security system in the home and agitated that Stef isn't getting it done quickly.

Arlene Wolff Does It Again... Over a Half Century Later
"I'm the kind of girl who's tried everything once," Valerine Perrine purrs in Lenny. As Mrs. Bruce in the Bob Fosse film, her claim, let's say, contained slightly off-color elements.

Not so for the chanteuse Arlene Wolff, who can make the same assertion and whose career path followed a similar timeline (the 1960s onward). She, however, always took the high road. Yes, her notable achievements are indisputably aboveboard and even more varied. She opened for Jackie Mason in his early days, toured Europe as a singer of standards, and as Assistant to New York City's Mayor Abraham Beame, Wolff devised the Big Apple's now iconic street fairs. If that were not enough, for you sailor buffs, she organized the arrival of the tall ships in New York Harbor for the Bicentennial. Then because she had some free time on her hands, she married Manhattan's then Chief of Police (Mickey Schwartz...

Toys-to-life game Disney Infinity is to be discontinued and Disney's console game business ended, it's been announced...

Well, this is grim news to report. The Disney Infinity toys-to-life game and its accompanying playsets are to be discontinued, with Disney citing a lack of growth in the market and rising development costs as factors behind its decision.

The news was confirmed by Disney Interactive's John Blackburn late yesterday, with a blog update revealing that the next wave of toys for Disney Infinity - three figures for Alice Through The Looking Glass set for release this month, and a Finding Dory set scheduled for June - will be the game's last. The immediate impact is that Avalanche, the studio which developed Infinity, is to close with the loss of around 300 jobs; it's a sad end for a company which had managed to ride out a changing industry for over 20 years.

Outlander Recap: The Purpose Driven Wife, Plus: Fergus Enters the Fray
Outlander (2014)
Though their circumstances, carnal endurance and cheekbones suggest otherwise, Outlander‘s Jamie and Claire are, in fact, only human. Isn’t it nice to see, as we do in this week’s episode, that a bit of stress and a lack of sleep make them as susceptible to the same everyday bitchery as the rest of us?

Perhaps my current situation makes me a little sensitive to this kind of thing: Having a 1-year-old daughter offers me many gifts, but an overabundance of patience is not one of them, and my by-all-measures-amazing husband sometimes becomes the unintended target of my exhaustion.
