It’s been almost two years since we last reported on the the debut feature from director Peter Herro, Wtf! – which follows the survivor of a mass murder on a relaxing trip with six close friends, when her nightmare threatens to begin again. Thankfully the latest news is that Herro’s film is finally getting a release Stateside, courtesy of Midnight Releasing.
Herro directed Wtf! from a script he co-wrote with Christopher Centanni and Adam Buchalter. Kyle Zingler produced alongside executive producers Steve Parker and Jody Wheeler. Callie Ott (The Horror), Sarah Agor (Hatchet II, VH1′s Scream Queens), Andrea Hunt (Awaken the Shadowman), Ben Norris, Johnny James Fiore, Nick Reilly and Adam Foster starred as the unfortunate group of friends.

Friday was a huge day for established, familiar properties. ABC kicked off the morning by picking up "Uncle Buck," which was followed by Fox's order for "The Frankenstein Code" and then quickly by CBS' series orders for "Rush Hour," "Limitless" and a "Criminal Minds" spinoff. In what I'm assuming will be Friday's last piece of big, breaking news -- famous last words -- Fox has given series orders to "Minority Report" and "Lucifer," based on the hit Steven Spielberg/Tom Cruise feature and the DC/Vertigo comic title respectively. Let's look at the details: "Minority Report" was written by Max Borenstein and directed by Mark Mylod and features Spielberg and Amblin Television among its producers. It's set 10 years after the end of the Pre-Crime unit in DC and three remaining pre-cogs are struggling to integrate back into society. One of them meets a helpful detective and is able to find...

Fox's pilot formerly known as "Frankenstein" is now known as "The Frankenstein Code" and it also now has a place in Fox's 2015-2016. "The Frankenstein Code," which comes from "Life" creator Rand Ravich, became Fox's second drama series pickup of the spring on Friday (May 8), joining "Rosewood," which was picked up on Thursday. "True Blood" veteran Rob Kazinsky plays Jimmy Pritchard, a retired cop with problems. He's morally corrupt and he's also dead. When some intrepid scientists resurrect him, he has to choose between his old temptations and his new lease on life. The pilot also stars Dilshad Vadsaria, Adhir Kalyan, Tim DeKay and, bouncing back quickly from "Red Band Society," Ciara Bravo. The "Frankenstein Code" pilot was directed by Michael Cuesta and features Howard Gordon as an executive producer. And, like the bulk of Fox's early pickups, it hails from 20th Century Fox TV. The network also previously ordered...

Not content to let NBC and The CW have the full programming spotlight on the Thursday (May 7) before upfronts, Fox made its first comedy and drama series pickups of the spring. On the comedy side, Fox has given a series order to "The Grinder," starring Rob Lowe, while the Morris Chestnut procedural "Rosewood" is going to series on the drama side. "Rosewood" and "The Grinder" join the Ryan Murphy anthology horror-comedy "Scream Queens," which was ordered straight to series last fall, and the six-episode return of "The X-Files," announced in March. "The Grinder" stars Lowe as an actor best known for playing a beloved TV lawyer. When his hit series comes to an end, he decides to return to his hometown thinking that his TV pedigree makes him qualified to take over his family's law firm. Fred Savage, most recently plying his trade as a prolific TV director, makes his...

The Scream franchise was an instant cult classic, credited with reviving the modern horror slasher genre in film. The movies were a clever satire, completely aware of horror-film clichés and inserting them into the plot. Spoof or not, the original Scream film remains the highest-grossing slasher film in the U.S.

Pardon me if I sound like Saturday Night Live city correspondent Stefon, but this week’s Sleepy Hollow has everything.
Jenny kicking tail. Hawley leaving town. Ichabod and Abbie singing karaoke — both solo and together. Callbacks to prior episodes. References to both Star Wars and Meghan Trainor. And the human lie detector — It’s that thing? When Katrina uses her powers to discern an important truth about Irving? But otherwise keeps to herself for most of the hour?
The most important aspect of the episode: Abbie and Crane feel more like the Witnesses we love than they have all season.

This week on Fox’s Gotham, Jim Gordon took out some trash, Penguin surveyed his new dominion, Fish tried to wriggle free and Selina sent Bruce mixed signals.
If you heard a groan echo through the canyons about midway through this episode, that was me reacting to Fish resurfacing at her club after Penguin had barely been able to kick the tires. Yes, it came on the heels of a triumphant moment for Butch, who rode to the boss lady’s rescue after managing his own escape from Falcone’s goons. And he and she then had that warm moment on a bed,...

TCA 2015: “The Office” alum discusses the challenge of making a miserable character worth watching
Rainn Wilson is moving on from playing an eccentric weasel/suck-up on “The Office” to starring as a brilliant but misanthropic detective on Fox’s upcoming series “Backstrom.” During the panel for the new show at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena on Saturday, Wilson tackled the topic of why audiences should tune in to watch a character whose disdain for mankind sometimes extends into racism and sexism.
Wilson’s conclusion: Sure, Det. Lt. Everett Backstrom is “an asshole” — who’s worth getting to know.

By now, most of you are familiar with the galactic awesomeness that is Guardians Of The Galaxy, but for those of you that have been hiding under a rock on Knowhere, you’re in luck because this spunky bunch of A-holes are making their way to Blu-Ray on December 9th.
Last week, I talked with writer/director/animal enthusiast James Gunn about his feelings before releasing the film, the upcoming sequel and, of course, Michael Rooker. Check it out below.
Before the film was released, there were a ton of headlines about James Gunn being terrified to release Guardians. The film’s coming to Blu-ray now, and has done incredibly well, so I’m wondering what scares you now?
James Gunn : Well, I wasn’t terrified of releasing the movie. I was terrified because I didn’t know how I was going to live my life without having Rocket in it everyday.

Don't get complacent. American Horror Story is still capable of surprising - and horrifying - its audience. Here's Ron's review...
This review contains spoilers.
4.7 Test Of Strength
I though it was safe to tune into American Horror Story. I really did. After last week's threatening stance towards Ma Petite, I figured she would be safe. Test Of Strength only reinforced that, as Dell went around the camp looking for an innocent victim to avoid further blackmail by Stanley, who knows that Dell frequents Jupiter's one gay bar. The episode teases it perfectly. Dell first goes after Eve, who promptly beats the crap out of him because she's 6'8 and possibly the worst possible target for Dell's violence. The second target is Jimmy, which works out well for him, but not in the “I need to kill someone so no one finds out I'm gay” sense.
The Jimmy and Dell scene is surprisingly effective.

Scariest movies ever made: The top 100 horror films according to the Chicago Film Critics (photo: Janet Leigh, John Gavin and Vera Miles in Alfred Hitchcock's 'Psycho') I tend to ignore lists featuring the Top 100 Movies (or Top 10 Movies or Top 20 Movies, etc.), no matter the category or criteria, because these lists are almost invariably compiled by people who know little about films beyond mainstream Hollywood stuff released in the last decade or two. But the Chicago Film Critics Association's list of the 100 Scariest Movies Ever Made, which came out in October 2006, does include several oldies — e.g., James Whale's Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein — in addition to, gasp, a handful of non-American horror films such as Dario Argento's Suspiria, Werner Herzog's Nosferatu the Vampyre, and F.W. Murnau's brilliant Dracula rip-off Nosferatu. (Check out the full list of the Chicago Film Critics' top 100 horror movies of all time.

Old monsters or new? Dracula or Freddy Kruger? The Bride of Frankenstein or the Bride of Chucky? How do you like your monsters…Classic or neo-nasty contemporary?
Most people like a good horror film around Halloween. It’s the time of year for a good scare. But what kind of scare do you want…classic or modern? Do you prefer the gothic grand guignol of yesteryear or the deranged demons of today? Who’s cooler and creepier?
Just for clarity’s sake, we’ll draw the old vs. new line at 1978, with John Carpenter’s excellent Halloween being the start of the modern age of Horror. Everything before that (The B&W Universal monster films, the Hammer Studios films with Cushing and Lee, the Poe/Hawthorn adaptations with Vincent Price, etc.) are classic horror flicks.
Let’s start with the names of the monsters. In this category, you have to go with old Hollywood.

The series found its cast and director (Faking It’s Jamie Travis) in August. Harvey and Bob Weinstein will executive produce alongside Wes Craven,...

What happens when you cross American Horror Story with Glee? You’d get Fox’s new comedy Scream Queens…
Here’s one that sounds like it came from an end-of-week meeting where everyone at Fox picked a popular TV element out of a hat, glued them together on an official memo, called it a job done and headed home for the weekend.
We’re talking about Scream Queens – Fox’s new anthology horror/teen comedy series.
When you dig a little deeper though, it seems that this idea might be a little less off-the-wall than it sounds. It’s brought to us by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk (pictured) – two of the very versatile chaps behind creating both Glee and American Horror Story. Ian Brennan, from the Glee side of the fence, is involved too.

Once "Glee" wraps up, show creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are sticking with Fox for another project. The network has given the pair a straight-to-series, fifteen episode order for the comedy-horror anthology "Scream Queens".
Like Murphy's "American Horror Story" on FX, completely new settings and storylines will be featured in each season of the anthology series. One commonality though is that each season will revolve around two female leads.

If there’s one lesson to take away from this week’s Sleepy Hollow, it’s that everyone should know CPR — especially if you’re a charter member of Team Wtf.
If there’s a second lesson to take away from this week’s episode, it’s that you really don’t want to mess with Katrina, because redhead will mess you up, lie about it for centuries and then claim the moral high ground when confronted.
In between, there’s Jenny, Hawley, Jenny on Hawley (mrrow), a tasty bit of Ichabod’s back story and one truly unfortunate Revolutionary War re-enactor.

Fox is loving Ryan Murphy still, hence why they ordered a new series by him. Scream Queens will be following the steps of American Horror Story. The show will cover a new story line each season, with the first one set to be about a college dealing with murders. It will be a dark comedy that will be put out by Ryan and his team of masterminds of their soon to be over Glee days, Brad Falchuk, Ian Brennan and Dante Di Loreto. Here is what he had to say about his new show.

Students on a college campus are stalked by a malicious murderer: horror film fans have seen this setup in many films like Final Exam, Scream 2, and Urban Legend, but we’ve never seen Ryan Murphy’s take on this story setup. That will change by next year, though, as the American Horror Story co-creator is moving forward on a university-set horror-comedy series called Scream Queens for Fox.
Set for a fall 2015 premiere, the first season of Scream Queens will consist of 15 one hour-long episodes. Similar to the American Horror Story structure, Scream Queens will tell a different story in a new environment each season.
Press release via Yahoo: “Los Angeles (Reuters) – Fox has ordered anthology series “Scream Queens” from the creator of ‘Glee” and “American Horror Story,” the U.S. television network said on Monday, as broadcast TV takes a cue from a format largely successful on cable networks.

There’s nothing stopping producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk in their quest for complete domination of the alternative TV docket. The pair first made waves when they introduced the world to the destructive lives of plastic surgeons in Nip/Tuck before they redefined serial television with the hugely popular American Horror Story for FX.
For their mainstream musical venture at Fox, the duo rounded out their “sound” by bringing in producer Ian Brennan for teen comedy Glee. With that show currently tying up its final season, Fox isn’t letting their winning trio slip through their fingers, as they’ve just given Murphy, Falchuk and Brennan’s next project, Scream Queens, a 15-episode straight-to-series order.
Slated to be a comedy-horror anthology, the show will debut in fall 2015 and revolve around a similar framework to American Horror Story. Each season will begin with a brand new story, set in new locations with entirely different characters.
