Another ultra low budget zombie flick. How deceptive those DVD covers look huh? I will never trust DVD covers again! Lol

Anyways about this flick, I did not care for it at all. Some scenes I could not stand. Like the Goth chick Raven(who by the way does nothing really but taking so-call pictures of the zombies!? WTF!?) trying to start up the chainsaw and can never really get it started and when she does , we get a cheap "Money Shot" of a scene! (You can even tell the chainsaw is not running but you can still hear the sound of it!) lol And by then the so-called hero,Miller, had dispatched most of the zombie anyways. And about this hero, who I could barely understand cause he's like trying to sound like the "poor man's" version of Kurt Russell's Snake Plisskin and Christian Bale's Batman at the same time! He even tries cutting his hair and putting a bandana a la Rambo! lol Not believable or funny for one minute.(Weird trivia: There is an extended scene on DVD where the hero Miller and Goth chick are having a conversation and he does not have that weird accent or that weird voice at all and actually sounds normal!? What the hell?!) lol

Another annoying and painful to watch scene was with the actor( if he can be called that) playing the bouncer/security guy in the bar. Thank goodness they killed him quick cause he could not act for nothing! I mean I give everybody a 'A' for effort but they better have other jobs because as actors/writers/directors, they are not gonna make it. The only decent performance I got somewhat because he has a more natural way of acting, was by the actor playing "Mark" (Michael Empson). With time and way better roles to showcase himself, this guy could have a chance later on.
  • I can handle my fair share of "cheese", but this one just sucks on any meter. Terrible acting, terrible script and horrible directing make Zombie Apocalypse one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I really had a problem sitting through this mess of a movie. The zombies were not even scary. I was even rooting for the zombies. I was hoping they would kill everyone else off before the first 15 minutes and the movie would just end. It really seemed like a gang of friends with some camcorders just went to some abandoned buildings out in the woods and just did a weekend take. I rented this at my local video store. It was on the new release section next to Zombieland. I am going to give them a hard time for having this on the new release section.

Can't the government do something about movies like Zombie Apocalypse? I mean, the FDA wouldn't let me mix up some cold medicine in my garage and sell it to people. The State Patrol wouldn't let me drive down the street in a car I cobbled together out of duct tape, aluminum foil and a lawn mower engine. If you drop out of school in the 7th grade, you're not allowed to hang up a shingle and call yourself a lawyer. Yet for some reason, any ambitious half wit who can squeeze a loaf of cinema out of his creative anus is allowed to sell it to the public as though it were a professionally made product. That ain't right. At the very least there should be some sort of rating system to warn people, labeling garbage like this as MBTM - Made By Talentless Morons.

This motion picture is atrocious. Nothing about it is better than amateurish and a lot doesn't even reach that low standard. This script would get you flunked out of screen writing class. These performances would get you kicked out of acting class. The direction would get you deported from the country. I could give a camera and a boom mic to a bunch of middle schoolers and send them out into the woods and they could improv a better film than this. It really should be illegal to market and distribute something this woeful. Putting this DVD on the shelves and waiting for someone to rent it is like digging a pit and waiting for someone to fall in, then stealing their wallet.

This film is about a band of survivors who have to work together to survive after a virus outbreak causes the dead to rise. Now, that same description can be applied just as accurately to dozens, if not hundreds, of other low-budget flicks out there about the walking dead. But even though almost all of them stink on ice, most would still probably be better than Zombie Apocalypse. What is it about zombies that attracts such cheap and grotesquely bad filmmaking? There have been terrible werewolf and vampire movies, but nowhere near the number or as crudely made as zombies.

If this were simply a matter of incompetent boobs trying to make a movie and failing in tragic fashion, I could forgive that. There's a certain charm to that sort of Ed Wood-ian sincerity. That's not what is going on with these dunderheads. There are too many times when the film slides haphazardly from pitiful attempt at drama to even more pitiful attempts at comedy and then back again to be unintentional. There are too many unbelievably horrid fight scenes that look like something out of live action role playing to be accidental. There are too many moments where Zombie Apocalypse plainly tries to embrace a "so bad it's good" ethic for this excrement to be the work of guys who were unaware of how much they suck. From awful voiceovers to imbecilic plot twists to aping stuff they saw in Shawn of the Dead, the folks who made this junk knew what a ghastly job they were doing. They just didn't care.

The people who made Zombie Apocalypse should be beaten with hickory sticks. The people who put it out into the DVD market should be forced to bathe in the bowel movements of a thousand fat men. You not only shouldn't watch this movie, you shouldn't be friends with anyone who likes it.
  • This movie cropped up alongside all the new releases in the shop. I like zombie films so thought i'd give it a try. The cover art looked good but unfortunately bares no resemblance to the film.

The film is just awful from start to finish. no one can act and the zombies look like a 5 year old was hired to do the makeup. It may be low budget but that's not an excuse. If you have no money then you need to be clever with what you do have. Trying to make a zombie movie with no story, no actors and no effects just results in boring garbage.

The whole things feels like a you-tube homage to zombie films made by some kids in a garage.

Was just awful. The blood looked like tomato juice and the acting was god awful. Who ever made this was a moron. If you want a good film watch Quarantine 2 or REC. After the first few minutes I turned it off. I rented this film from family Video thinking "Sounds Good". I was horribly wrong. Seriously this film had to be a joke because it sucked so bad. I bet a bunch of monkeys could come up with a better zombie film. The worst part is they are coming out with a sequel to this piece of trash. Now time for some random stuff because I can't think of anything else. I bet REC Genesis will be better. When will the directors learn?

    Warning: Spoilers
ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE is another dreadful zombie flick made on an indie budget; it's one of the worst currently out there, although there are plenty of similarly terrible movies. It's a cheapest-of-the-cheap kind of film, in which college goofballs battle the barely-seen living dead. The film was shot in Michigan with the zombies a non-existent menace, and overall the bad scripting and complete predictability render it a bore.
  • 1: Terrible Acting I've seen better in other low budget films. The scene in the bar just.... I couldn't wait till they killed off the "security" guard. He was just so bad!

2: The Actors The main guy why did he have to speak like that? It was just annoying! The most annoying characters were the bar's security then the one guy at the start who's voice is just.... it's just as bad or worse as the main guys. The one guy in the scrubs was decent and his friend kinda like the 2 college students together but everyone else was just either annoying or killed off.

    3. Cheap don't mean lazy. If they would have put the time and effort in this could have been decent.
  • "Zombie Apocalypse" is indeed a very bad low budget movie. I saw the IMDb User Rating before buying this DVD and I decided to risk due to low price, since sometimes low budgets trash movies are very interesting. It is only to recall the early Peter Jackson's films in New Zealand. However, this amateurish "Zombie Apocalypse" is awful: the messy storyline and screenplay make no sense, the ham actors and actresses, the locations, the make-up, the tomato juice as blood, nothing works in this Z-movie. There is a histrionic guy that performs the security in the bar that is laughable. And maybe the worst, the conclusion is a cliffhanger for a sequel. Unbelievable! My vote is two.

Title (Brazil): "Apocalipse Zumbi" ("Zombie Apocalypse")
  • Seems what a lot of the reviews say here are spot on. Well for two pounds 💷 you get what you pay for innit. Wasn't really a good zombie film 📼 I didn't think so, but it passed away an hour and a half. So OK I suppose you win some you loose some. Not what I call a biffin good movie 🎦. So never mind I have Dario Argento tonight Inferno should be good 📼 watching, jacey out review over.

While this is a relatively low budget movie, they do great work! it portrays a great plot, it was just simply outstanding. Who was miller? I am still wondering to myself 8 years later. This movie often comes up in conversation at dinner with my family. Every night we sit and wonder what happened to miller.. is he dead, is he alive, I NEED TO KNOW.

The cinematics were great, especially with the scene where the two by four was used to conk the zombie in the head and guts splattered everywhere. Genius.

Directing was on point as well. Loved the "Lets Party" scene, got me excited for the rest of the film and the action that was going to occur. Was not disappointed with what followed to say the least. The acting as well as the dialogue was advanced in a sense to it made you think on a deeper level, " what if you were in their shoes"

The ending scene left me wanting more. This movie fulfilled my need and itch for a good scare and a good laugh.

Overall, a great film to watch with the family, the kids, or the boys.

    Cant wait for the sequel!

The movie opens with a snuff scene that appears it could have come from Sin City. A man in handcuffs is set upon by a group of zombies, which we later find out were produced by the government, unless you read the comic book. Meanwhile Tom and Mark decide they want to go out for a drink, but like a trip to White Castle they get detoured.

There is also Raven, "don't call me Jennifer" who is a punk-goth looking photographer. She joins the group. As fate would have it these 4 end up together. We find out the man in cuffs is some kind of government agent who was supposed to have been killed by the zombie attack. Mark has issues with his former roommate Kevin, who is sleeping with his gf, or ex-gf. Kevin looks like a young Val Kilmer.

The movie has some real bad acting, like the bouncer at the bar who has "SECURITY" on his t-shirt. Fortunately the worse actors get eaten early. There seems to be a serious lack of guns for rural Michigan. There is one scene with some comical Dr. Evil diabolical laughter. The zombies are of the slow moving variety with a lousy make-up job.

The DVD comes with a PREQUEL comic book. It would help if you read the comic book first.

F-bomb, no sex, no nudity (unless you count the comic book which has topless drawings).
  • Whether or not it was intended to be a comedy, this film was a riot. All the best clichés were there including the line that all British panto lovers will know - there're behind you. The thing that makes this a hoot though, is that it is played straight - everyone is just so serious; but first, a bit about the plot.

The special edition DVD comes with a comic booklet explaining the origins of the zombie virus and the film picks up when the zombies are inadvertently let loose. The film revolves around a group of people who have to battle the zombies in order to survive but also a corporate or government plot to kill a rogue agent who mumbles and murmurs like a Bruce Willis wannabe with a sore throat. The action clichés are equally unimpressive.

You have to wonder how fit people are caught by shuffling zombies and watch carefully as just about every cliché is incorporated here; and don't get me started on the martial arts fighting. Still, it is great fun and worth watching for a laugh.
