The movie is about a famous Karthikeya temple in Subramanyapuram. This temple is shut down an year back. All the curious people/journalists who try to enter temple are killed by a snake. Karthik a medical student and atheist who is sent for a medical camp to Subramanyapuram stumbles upon a few mysterious events. Karthik is curious about why the temple is closed and what is the mystery about the people dying when trying to open the temple. The movie has a good story line but the climax is a let down. The pros of the movie are different plot from Telugu movies, the plot execution and screenplay are good. The climax of the movie should have been better and romance between nikhil and swati is a weak point. Overall the movie is must watch and is different from other Telugu movies

Reaching my expectations, From Titles till the Endcard movie is Extraordinary. The Main Asset is Direction and Screenplay making all flavors of the story mixed in a handy Way.
Another Asset is Cinematography. Taking and Lighting Effects are awesome. Even the Animated version of flashback is very good. Two Songs Picturisation is good. Music and BGM was added advantage. Swamy rara pair Nikhil and Swathi was good. Goose Bumps when the lighting hits the Subramanya Swamy Statue at the End.
Climax should have extended a bit as the movie felt like ended Quickly.
Overall A Very Good Attempt and a Super HIT small movie. -

pal-gandharv27 August 2022Watched Karthikeya 1 yesterday. Could not tolerate for more than an hour. What a bad film. Nothing was good. Maybe, I will give 2.5/5 for the story but apart from this, a third class B grade movie it was. Full of unnecessary songs. Totally unnecessary presence of the heroine. A typical Ramsay sort of thriller and comedy horror till first 30 40 mins with random scenes with no connection at all. Maybe, because it was a 2014 movie but the execution looked too poor. Acting was horrible. Hindi dubbing was okayish. If this movie is awaited, I will happily ignore the first part. Intolerable for any movie buff. 3.4/10.

The casting is great. All the characters have equal screen time so the audience is always left guessing. The lead pair Nikhil and Swati have great chemistry.
More importantly, the film questions our belief in God in a gentle way without attaching the belief.
However, a couple of areas need work. The animation of the snake, at times, looks fake. The other area is the climax. Unfortunately it fell a little flat in comparison to the build up.
Overall, this film is a must see and a rare treat for film watchers. -

manishrvce23 August 2022After the big success of Karthikeya-2, many Hindi film viewers were prompted to watch part 1 of the series. On hearing its good reports, I also watched the prequel of this hit Telegu supernatural thriller on Amazon prime. The film is un-available in Hindi language but the decent English subtitles made the film quite relatable. The film is about the central character Karthikeya who is the young Indian version of Indiana Jones kind character who is interested in solving mysteries. This lands him in a temple town which is in news and mystery. How he gets into trouble and how he solves it all makes the film very interesting. In Indian films, we have had films based on mythology meet the modern era including Hindi ones like Rudraksha, Naksha and a lot of south Indian films. However, Karthikeya's approach is very fresh and it manages to keep the film very engaging. The film has suspense, mythology, history, a bit of horror(like Ramsay's film) and mystery and does justice to all genres. A very tight screenplay and crisp editing make the film nail-biting and entertaining as well. The lead actor Nikhil is in great form and fits the role to the T! A well-made thriller with all elements of mystery and mythology well adapted!!

'Karthikeya' is a decent mystery suspense thriller. but there is not so much of gripping suspense in this film.movie plot was good but execution is not very interesting. Actually it was a mystery thriller but director moreover concentrated on other scenes like love,family attachments, comedy with friends etc. It was director Chandoo first attempt.he tried a genre film with as usual Telugu entertainment elements that was the main problem of this film. Finally these both sides he failed.
some logic mistakes has been happen in this film.How was the journalist dairy reached to his wife after his death and police death sequence is one the most important sequence in this film but there is no explanation in the end how it was happen.then beginning showed Nikhil zodiac sign was Scorpio, at the end Thanikella Bahrain told his zodiac sign was Aries. then elevated hero characterization in the beginning. he realized about the mystery after 65% of the film completion and reacted 80% completion of the film.So very late reaction of Karthikeya.
except direction and screenplay work film plot and technical values are good. visually good in some scenes,especially flashback story telling scenes. bgm score and art work is well. Nikhil performance is good.
Finally a good attempt, worth a watch. -

MandalBros-528 October 2022There's nothing to like in the film. Bad acting, full of cliché moments, so many loopholes and most importantly unnecessary and unaffective comedy dialogues. Still couldn't stop the film in between only because of the mystery. I'll say the film is bad. After finishing the first part, I had no interest in watching part 2, but had to because of its amazing responses.
Now, no doubt part 2 is far better than part 1 but still can't say that it's brilliant. Only because of the mythological reference I was watching till the end, otherwise I would stop it in between. While watching this type of films we audiance should surprise in moments, but I had the same expression from beginning to end of the film. Only good thing I found in part 2 is the scenes with Anupam Kher. Finally, maybe this genre is not for me or it's really not a very good film, I don't know.

There wasn't even good chemistry between the actors. The screenplay was not that good. Nikhil acted well but still movie was not up to the mark.

This movie is just a lame attempt to link all bad happenings to people and all good happenings to god. The movie gives a logical and rational explanation to every problem in the movie but in the last scene everything was just wasted away again with worthless religious superstition talks. Better to avoid it.
Story is simple and decent. Screenplay and acting was also decent. Where the story turns into a god rant is in the last scene. Dialogues were good. One dialogue that was, is and will ever fit India is "everything is possible in India with faith". Superb dialogue. Shows the stupidity religious people have in India.
One can watch this movie when they feel rational thinking is increasing inside themselves. They can watch this movie and start believing in lame worthless superstitions. -
sriramthestranger21 August 2022The movie gets to the plot point only after 30 minutes. Till then, there were only fillers and unnecessary scenes. The heroine character is not at all needed. There were many logical flaws. But, its a good thriller overall.
