Apple TV+ has officially released the trailer for Carême, a delicious drama in French, all set to release on the 30th of April 2025. The series is based on Ian Kelly’s Cooking for Kings: The Life of Antonin Carême, the first celebrity chef. Seen in the lead role will be Benjamin Voisin, playing the culinary genius Antonin.

The tantalizing trailer shows a glimpse of the quick rise of Carême, from being an orphan in the revolutionary Paris era to becoming one of the world’s most celebrated chefs, having served the likes of Tsar Alexander I and Napoleon. The dramatic flair, lavish visuals, and critical politics ensure that the upcoming series is a treat to all senses.

David Serino and Kelly, the co-creators of the show, are confident that it will be the perfect sneak peek into the dangerous world of European bureaucracy.

If you’re bored with the typical drama online and an intense kitchen drama will pique your interest, then Apple TV+’s upcoming show is just the right thing. Based on the book Cooking for Kings: The Life of Antonin Carême, The First Celebrity Chef by Ian Kelly, Carême is an upcoming French-language show. It follows the life of Antonin Carême, who rose to prominence in the Napoleonic era.

Martin Bourboulon, who has previously directed The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan and The Three Musketeers: Milady, directs the eight-part series starring Benjamin Voisin, Jérémie Renier, and Lyna Khoudri. The cast of Carême attended the Series Mania Festival in Lille, France, recently and has received a positive response. Here’s everything we know about the show.

What is Carême going to be about?

According to the press release by Apple TV+, Carême is an upcoming French-language series starring Benjamin Voisin in the titular role.

Apple TV+ is known for putting out some of the most compelling content that any streamer has to offer, and its newest upcoming series comes in the form of Carême. The French show debuted its first trailer a few weeks ago, and it has already racked up hundreds of thousands of views. Now, Collider is thrilled to partner with Apple TV+ to exclusively reveal a new behind-the-scenes sneak peek at the upcoming show, which features the cast giving insight into their creative processes and also new footage from the series. Carême will debut its first episode on Apple TV+ on April 30, with new episodes releasing weekly every Wednesday until the season finale on June 11. Your Friends & Neighbors is an upcoming crime thriller dark comedy-drama series created by Jonathan Tropper. The Apple TV+ series is set in a wealthy community and it follows Andrew Cooper, a recently divorced New York hedge fund manager who becomes unemployed and uses criminal methods to maintain his and his family’s comfortable lifestyle.

As always, Apple TV+ continues to prove that its series are some of the best out there compared to other streaming platforms. While they don’t always offer heaps of shows like other streaming services, they never fail to deliver top-notch viewing experiences. Based on the investigation and exclusive revelations from ‘Le Parisien’, the series will explore the story of the former treasurer of fashion brand Kiabi, who allegedly embezzled over €100 million.

An unassuming woman, she is accused of reportedly exploiting financial loopholes for over a decade to fuel an extravagant lifestyle. After a meteoric rise, she was arrested by authorities in August 2024, but to date, she is presumed innocent, with the case ongoing.

The lineup of this year’s Series Mania, the TV festival and industry meet that runs through March 28 in Lille, France, includes historic epics like Joe Wright’s rise-to-fascism biography Mussolini: Son of The Century, real-life action thriller Kabul, which traces the fall of Afghan capital to the Taliban in 2021, and Liongate’s spy drama The German, from the creators of Fauda and Tehran, about Holocaust survivors recruited to track down Nazi war criminals.

Add to that the screenings at the festival’s upfront event, held Monday, March 24, where top-tier buyers get a sneak peek at upcoming international series. The 10 featured upfront shows include German fantasy epic War of the Kingdoms, Korean sci-fi series S Line and Swiss thriller The Deal, starring The Broken Circle Breakdown star Veerle Baetens as a diplomat tasked with brokering last-chance nuclear negotiations between the U.S.

Bowing March 21 with Apple TV+’s “Carême,” an ambitious sex-sluiced French riposte to “Bridgerton,” 2025’s Series Mania lifted off with a spring in its step, standing tall for one more year as Europe’s premier TV festival.

An extraordinarily long line on Saturday, encircling Lille’s major Nouveau Siècle theater for Joe Wright’s “M: Son of the Century” shows how much Series Mania’s home city in north-east France has taken the festival to its heart.

Starring Josh Holloway (“Lost”), Rachel Hilson and Keith David (“The Thing”), “Duster” is set in the 1970s Southwest as a getaway driver gets entangled in a crime network that is threatened by the arrival of a young agent in town. Hilson stars as the first Black female FBI agent.

“Duster” was produced in association with Warner Bros. Television, with the eight episodes dropping weekly through the finale on July 3. Today, Apple TV+ unveiled the provocative trailer for the upcoming new French-language drama Carême, starring César Award winner Benjamin Voisin (Lost Illusions), César Award nominee Jérémie Renier (My Way), César Award winner Lyna Khoudri (Papicha), and Alice Da Luz (Hanami).

The series is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Martin Bourboulon (Les Trois Mousquetaires: D’Artagnan). “Carême” will make its global debut on Apple TV+ on April 30, 2025, with the first two episodes, followed by one episode weekly every Wednesday through June 11, 2025.

Carême follows the thrilling story of the world’s first celebrity chef, Antonin Carême (Voisin), who rose from humble beginnings in Paris to the height of culinary stardom in Napoleon’s Europe. The world’s first celebrity chef, Marie-Antoine Carême, came to prominence in the Napoleonic era. But the makers of Apple TV+ series “Carême” turned to other great men for inspiration.

“We spent hours looking at photos of Lenny Kravitz and Mick Jagger,” says star Benjamin Voisin.

“With costume designer Pierre-Jean Larroque, we thought it would be great to bring that sexy, liberated feeling to his outfits, to bring rock’n’roll. What could be more beautiful from making a period series yet talking about people who could live today?”

Director Martin Bourboulon – previously behind “The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan” and “The Three Musketeers: Milady” – also looked for a modern twist to the story.

Banijay Group, the listed company which comprises film and TV production, distribution, live entertainment and gaming, posted record results for 2024 which reached €4.8 billion (5.2 billion).

Banijay’s adjusted Ebitda was also up by 22% to €900 million ($971 million), and saw an acceleration in the last quarter with 32.8% spike, while adjusted net income also rose by 29.3% at current currencies to €418 million.

Banijay’s French-headquartered TV production and distribution division, which is behind hits including “Survivor” and “Peaky Blinders,” and the live entertainment division, posted flat results of €3.3 billion ($3.5 billion). Content production revenue in 2024 stood at €2.6 billion ($2.8 billion), down 2.8% compared to 2023. The last quarter of 2024 was up 6.2% thanks to major scripted show which were delivered at the end of the year.

In unveiling its results, Banijay said 2024 was a though year for the TV content industry as “major streaming platforms reduced their spending and prioritized their return to profitability, primarily impacting premium English scripted content.

European TV production giant Banijay (Peaky Blinders, Black Mirror, MasterChef, Survivor) recorded a slight decline in full-year 2024 revenue for both its content production and content distribution businesses on a constant currency basis, Amsterdam stock exchange-listed parent company Banijay Group disclosed on Thursday.

The producer’s corporate parent disclosed that Paris-headquartered Banijay’s annual production revenue dropped 2.8 percent on a constant currency and also a reported basis to 2.6 billion euro ($2.8 billion). Content distribution revenue was down 1.5 percent assuming constant currencies, or up 0.4 percent on a reported basis, at 397 million euro ($429 million).

However, when including live experiences division Banijay Live, which focuses on the production of institutional ceremonies and live events in the sports, luxury and fashion industries, revenue for the combined content and live experiences division rose 0.5 percent on a constant currency basis and 0.8 percent on a reported basis to 3.3 billion euro ($3.6 billion). French festival Series Mania has revealed its lineup, featuring Joe Wright’s “Mussolini: Son of the Century,” “Querer,” a huge hit at San Sebastián, “Empathy” and “Hal & Harper.”

Amanda Seyfried will present “Long Bright River,” while Pamela Adlon is set to deliver a masterclass. Adlon will also preside over the International Competition jury.
