I’m Worried ‘Lazarus’ Can’t Recover After This One Character Ruined Everything
Image
Alright, let’s be clear, Lazarus kicked things off like a champ. Shinichirō Watanabe hooked us up with this wild futuristic sci-fi setting where people pretty much cheated death thanks to a miracle drug. It’s 2052. No more pain. No more sickness. Just chill vibes. All thanks to this brilliant neuroscientist, Dr. Skinner, who introduced this magic cure called Hapuna, and then just disappeared.

Years later, he shows up out of the blue to drop a bomb: Hapuna has a short shelf life. Everyone who took it? Dead in three years. Surprise! You’re on a countdown to doom. That’s when a badass global task force called ‘Lazarus‘ steps in, running against the clock to find Skinner and stop this ticking apocalypse. The setup? Killer. The action? Slick. The vibes? Immaculate. Then came Episode 5. Then came Popcorn Wizard. And it all went straight downhill.

Image
Which 3 Actors Were In The Run To Black Panther’s T’Challa Before Chadwick Boseman? ( Photo Credit – Facebook )

The role of Black Panther was a game-changer, not just for Marvel but for Hollywood itself. But did you know three iconic actors could’ve worn the iconic suit before Chadwick Boseman? That’s right! Before the world was introduced to the brilliant T’Challa, some major names turned down the role, and well, it’s not every day that you get to say no to playing the king of a fictional African nation with an entire universe at your feet.

From scheduling conflicts to career choices, these actors could’ve joined the Marvel cinematic universe in a big way, but fate (and maybe a bit of bad timing) had other plans. Let’s dive into who these actors were and why they passed on the role that would change everything!

Dive Into Underwater Bodycam Horror With ‘Chasmal Fear’ Today on Steam [Trailer]
Wizard (2017)
Mirror Forge developers MystiveDev and publisher Wandering Wizard are taking the plunge today with their Action-Horror Fps Chasmal Fear, which is now available on Steam. Early adopters can take advantage of a special Steam launch discount of 10% off the game’s full price for the next 7 days.

Chasmal Fear sees players awaken alone (or with a friend in co-op) in a once-bustling deep-sea facility that’s now eerily silent, excluding the things that still move in the shadows. With limited supplies, unpredictable enemies, and a facility that seems to fight back, every choice you make could be your last.

Survival isn’t the only goal, however. Secrets lie hidden in the abyss, and only by piecing together clues, solving puzzles, and uncovering lost areas can players unravel the mystery of what really happened here.

Built in Unreal Engine 5, Chasmal Fear aims to offer up a terrifyingly immersive experience, with eerie lighting,...

The Professor X Mistake Marvel Needs To Avoid In Avengers: Doomsday
Image
Now that the cast has been announced for "Avengers: Doomsday," you've gotta wonder if "X-Men: Doomsday" would be the better title. It's not just Doctor Doom making his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the next "Avengers" film, it's also a certain merry band of mutant heroes. The X-Men are all going to be played by their actors from the 20th Century Fox films, including Sir Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier.

We should've seen this coming. Every gesture the McU's Multiverse Saga made towards the X-Men brought back the Fox actors. Sir Stewart even played a variant of Xavier in 2022's "Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness." Stewart didn't actually enjoy filming the "Doctor Strange" cameo, but he's back for more! That Xavier wasn't the precise iteration from previous films, but he did quote himself from the movie "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

"The Marvels" similarly ended with Monica...

‘Wicked’: Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in A Bewitching Spectacle That Nearly Soars

Few Broadway adaptations have been as hotly anticipated as Jon M. Chu’s ‘Wicked’ (2024). Starring powerhouse talents Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, the film dives into the untold story of the witches of Oz, serving as both a prequel and a counter-narrative to ‘The Wizard of Oz’. With its enchanting melodies, dazzling choreography, and a devoted fanbase, ‘Wicked’ had all the ingredients to dominate the box offic and leave audiences spellbound. And while the film honors much of its source material, a few cracks in its broomstick keep it from flying as high as it could. Wicked: For Good will open in theaters on Nov. 21, 2025, almost a year to the day after the first movie debuted on Nov. 22. Stephen King Has Teased A New Dark Tower Book, But What Could It Actually Be About?
Image
Stephen King has teased a new book in The Dark Tower universe, which raises the question of what the new installment could focus on. The first Dark Tower book, The Gunslinger, was published in 1982 and introduced the story of Roland Deschain. More than two decades later, King ended the series with the publication of The Dark Tower in 2004, which culminates Roland's journey. He later wrote an additional novel, The Wind Through the Keyhole, which was published in 2012 and takes place between the fourth and fifth books.

King has now teased a new Dark Tower book as he shared that he is "back in Mid-World...and the Territories" and that while he is unsure of what this venture will amount to, "it's good to be back." In addition to the eight novels and "The Little Sisters of Eluria" novella in The Dark Tower series, the books also connect to many of King's other works,...

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim brings back Christopher Lee to voice Saruman
Image
We knew that Saruman would appear in The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, but we didn’t know who would be voicing the White Wizard. Turns out, none other than Sir Christopher Lee will return to voice Sarumon in The War of the Rohirrim. As Lee sadly died in 2015, you might expect this to be an A.I. situation, but fear not, the production has made use of archival recordings of Lee.

While speaking with The One Ring, Lord of the Rings screenwriter Philippa Boyens said they reached out to Birgit Kroencke (Lee’s widow who died earlier this year), who gave her blessing. “[Kroencke] said the thing that I think that Peter [Jackson] felt in his heart, which was that actually Sir Christopher would’ve wanted this.” Boyens said. “So we went into his records, I got to go back and hear his voice–not just doing the lines,...

No director is currently attached to the forthcoming film.

Deathstroke

Deathstroke was created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez. He is a mercenary and assassin who first appeared in the “New Teen Titans” #2 back in 1980. Wizard magazine rated him the 24th greatest villain of all time.

Yuki Tabata Shot Down an Absurd ‘Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King’ Story Pitch as It “Would make Asta’s battles much more difficult”
Image
Among the new generation of shonen anime and manga series, Black Clover has been the most successful in retaining the key traits of the shonen legacy. Besides keeping the shonen essence intact, Yuki Tabata took it a step further by improving some aspects of the overall experience. For instance, great female characters and consistent developmental arcs for the side characters.

The creator’s ability to properly develop the characters is exceptional, which was also apparent in the film, Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard Kings. In an interview, Tabata shared his creative process behind the movie. He also spoke about the different possibilities, some of which would have proved to be problematic for Asta.

Billy Corgan Gives Bizarre New Year’s Eve Performance with Wizzo the Wizard: Watch
Image
By all accounts, NBC Chicago’s A Very Chicago New Year broadcast was a bizarre watch, thanks in no small part to Billy Corgan. Not only did he make the contrarian choice of singing “Summertime” in the middle of winter, but he also performed a whimsical new song inspired by Windy City children’s TV staple Wizzo the Wizard.

While appearing on the broadcast live from his tea house Madame Zuzu’s, the tuxedoed Smashing Pumpkins frontman debuted “Wizzo” while accompanied by the costumed son of the late Marshall Brodien, who plays the current iteration of Bozo the Clown’s sidekick.

“It’s up to you to believe in magic,” Corgan sings on the track. Watch the performance and the full broadcast below.

Marshall Brodien appeared as an early iteration of Wizzo the Wizard in the WGN-tv children’s show Bozo’s Circus, developing the character alongside its evolution into The Bozo Show.

The Flash Finally Uses 1 Of The Arrowverse's Biggest Crisis Changes
Image
Warning: Spoilers for The Flash season 9, episode 6

The Flash is finally making use of one of the biggest changes “Crisis on Infinite Earths” made to the Arrowverse. The CW series made liberal use of the many benefits that come with the Crisis, particularly in the immediate aftermath of the event. However, the show hasn’t taken full advantage of every post-Crisis rule.

Like all the Arrowverse shows airing at the time of the crossover, The Flash was heavily impacted by the Crisis. Multiple ramifications, both positive and negative, followed the rebirth of the multiverse. For instance, Barry not vanishing in the Crisis resulted in the creation of a timeline where Nora West-Allen still exists. Another example of how it has affected people’s lives occurred in The Flash season 9 when it was discovered that the Crisis somehow robbed the Gorilla City apes of their sentience.

Wonder Woman’s Shazam 2 Cameo Is A Wild End To Gal Gadot’s Time In The Dceu
Image
Warning: This article contains Shazam! Fury of the Gods Spoilers

With Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Gal Gadot makes her final Dceu appearance as Wonder Woman, and it's a strange way to end her time in the franchise. As spoiled by Warner Bros.' own marketing, Gadot makes an appearance at the very end of the Shazam! sequel after frequent teases throughout the movie. This comes mere months after Wonder Woman 3 was scrapped amid changes at DC. James Gunn and Peter Safran have taken over DC Studios, and the future of Wonder Woman remains a giant question mark.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods makes note of Billy Batson's (Asher Angel and Zachary Levi) crush on Wonder Woman, and it culminates in an appearance from the hero herself. Summoned by a letter Billy sent earlier, Wonder Woman appears in the godly realm to revive the magic found within the Staff...

Kenya Barris Said 'Never Again' To Directing Features After You People (But Changed His Mind For Wizard Of Oz)
Image
Kenya Barris has worn a lot of hats in the last 20-something years. He's perhaps best known as a writer-producer for television, having co-created the cult fave reality series "America's Next Top Model," the widely successful ABC sitcom "black-ish," and its two spin-offs, "grown-ish" and "mixed-ish." Prolific career in TV aside, Barris has also been slowly carving out a niche in film. He's racked up credits on projects like "Girls Trip," "Shaft," "Little," and "Coming 2 America" as both a producer and a writer. But there's probably nothing that can fully prepare anyone to direct a film — and Barris learned that the hard way with his feature debut.

"You People" — co-written with Jonah Hill and produced by frequent collaborator Netflix — was Barris' foray into directing. It very well could have been his final one, too: "On the last day of shooting, I was like, 'I'll never do this again,'" Barris told Forbes.

Luke Wilson and Brec Bassinger in Stargirl (2020)
Stargirl Season 1 Episode 3 Review: Icicle
Luke Wilson and Brec Bassinger in Stargirl (2020)
It may be family-friendly content, but at least viewers now know the series has some grit.

Sure, the two recurring characters offed on Stargirl Season 1 Episode 3 were mostly non-essential to the overarching plot, but with the writers following through and taking the plunge shows that no one may is safe.

Or rather, no one except Courtney and Pat, as if the writers killed one of them off, there would barely be any story left to tell.

Any sort of attempt to memorialize The Wizard or Joey would feel false, as the audience barely knew anything about them.

From the little viewers saw of Joey, he seemed like a nice, if somewhat shy, high-schooler who didn't seem to inherit his father's talents for magic.

The Wizard, of course, had actual magical abilities, but it's to feel sympathy for him, as he was a member of the Injustice Society of America.

However,...

Kevin Smith Brings Jay and Silent Bob Reboot to the 50th Sdcc
Aaron Sagers Jul 17, 2019

We speak with director/podcaster/personality extraordinaire Kevin Smith about Jay and Silent Bob Reboot and his Sdcc memories.

It is hard to imagine a San Diego Comic-Con without Kevin Smith, but there was an era we’ll call Bks where Saturday nights at the event didn’t conclude with the Jerseyed One from Jersey taking the main stage.

In actuality, the director, podcaster, comedian and nerd culture commentator didn’t make it to Sdcc until 1995. He went to screen Mallrats -- offsite at the Horton Plaza mall -- and didn’t even hold a panel. By ’96, Smith was speaking to a packed room at the con.

“That’s when I felt like I had arrived at Comic-Con,” he said in a recent interview. “The following year, '97, we'd had Chasing Amy out there, and when I went back, I had a bigger room to do the Q&a,...
