Chevelle Announce New Album, Unveil Single “Jim Jones”: Stream
Image
Chevelle have announced their 10th studio album, Bright as Blasphemy, arriving August 15th via Alchemy Recordings.

The Illinois alt-metal vets also dropped a new song, “Jim Jones,” the sequel to the album’s previously released lead single “Rabbit Hole.” The forceful track touts thick groove-metal riffs and an inspired performance from singer-guitarist Pete Loeffler, who puts his falsetto to work across the five-minute runtime.

“History teaches us the longest rabbit hole has no end,” the band succinctly said about the new song via a press release, following up the ominous message expressed in the prior single “Rabbit Hole.” Themes of dystopian techno-futurism run through both songs, as well as the LP sleeve art and various track titles such as “AI Phobias” and “Shocked at the End of the World.”

“Human Existence encompasses both inherent challenges and potential,” stated the band. “It’s up to you how to pass the time.

Chevelle bust out gnarled guitar riffs on the new single, a four-minute slow-burn that builds to a crushing metallic breakdown. Singer-guitarist Pete Loeffler’s unwavering falsetto is in full flight throughout, projecting lyrics about modern internet-fueled paranoia.

“How about we all put on our tinfoil hats, slam a Dunkies, and go deep doomscrolling,” stated the band in a press release. “If that sounds like your sorta thing, we’ve got a new song for you called ‘Rabbit Hole. Enjoy.”

Chevelle’s last album was 2021’s Niratias,...

Vin Diesel Suggests Filming on 'Fast 11' Has Already Begun
Image
Its nothing but good news today for Fast & Furious fans, as star Vin Diesel has shared a new photo that seemingly confirms filming on the next movie has already begun. Diesel took to Instagram yesterday to post a photo (seen below) of Dominic Torettos familiar Chevrolet Chevelle sandwiched between another classic car and a camera vehicle. The Chevelle has appeared in four movies in the franchise thus far, including The Fast and the Furious (2001), Fast & Furious (2009), The Fate of the Furious (2017), and last years Fast X.

Diesel accompanied the photo with a caption that apparently points to exterior shots being filmed for Fast X Part 2, which is expected to be the final movie in the main franchise. He said that the best thing about filming such sequences is that they remind him of where it all began more than 20 years ago.

"The best thing about filming practical exteriors this morning.

Fantastic Fest 2024 Review: Ick is an Energetic Pop-Punk Remix of The Blob
Image
Joseph Kahn is cornering the market on 2000s-kid horror. Ick is a fast-paced, pop-punk blasting remix of The Blob meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers with sweetened gateway intentions. Those who adore Kahn's Detention (like myself) might feel a spiritual connection, especially with an Aaron David Johnson cameo (Sander Sanderson himself). Like with most Kahn flicks, you'll quickly determine if you're the correct audience for the prolific music video director's energetic styles. Those who don't mind twenty different needle drops in three minutes will bop along as a nondescript entity doubles as suburbia malaise. Khan's four-for-four (in my opinion), but I'm also a sucker for an A+ Creed drop.

Brandon Routh stars as Eastbrook High School science teacher Hank Wallace, the former star quarterback whose collegiate dreams vanished so he became another immobile local. His dad's dead, he still drives the same rusted car from his golden years, and...

All eyes were on Kansas City this past Sunday when Taylor Swift pulled up to the Chiefs’ game against the Chicago Bears. Since then, Swifties have become fascinated with tight end Travis Kelce, whom the pop star has been rumored to be dating lately. Here’s What Travis Kelce Had to Say About Taylor Swift on His Podcast
Image
Travis Kelce addressed his rumored relationship with Taylor Swift in the latest episode of his weekly podcast New Heights, which he co-hosts with his brother and fellow NFL player, Jason Kelce.

“Shout out to Taylor for pulling up. That was pretty ballsy,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end said of Swift’s decision to attend Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears. “Everybody in the suite had nothing but great things to say about her — the friends and family. She looked amazing, everybody was talking about her in a great light. The day went perfect — for Chiefs fans. It was impressive.”

“To see the slow-motion chest bumps, the high fives with mom, to see how Chiefs Kingdom was all excited she was there — that shit was absolutely hysterical,” Kelce added. “It was definitely a game I’ll remember, that’s for damn sure. And then we just slid off in...

Seeing Red Again: An Appreciation of Horror’s Greatest Visual Storytelling Tool
Image
Frantic campers scavenge a park ranger’s rucksack inside his abandoned jeep. A shipwrecked sailor drags their waterproof emergency kit ashore. Apocalypse survivors raid a hardware depot after zombies chase civilization far away. Three different horror movie scenarios, all adding a holy grail item to whichever characters’ arsenal. Maybe loaded into a chamber, possibly as a roadside marker, but in any form, someone hoists an invaluable and iconic illumination tool: the almighty flare. Spark it, blast it, or blaze it for instantaneous cinematic ferocity and alarm.

As 2000s nu-metal rockers Chevelle once cautioned: “So lay down, The threat is real. When his sight, Goes red again.”

Maybe I should provide a bit of background at this point. On Twitter, I anointed myself Matt Donato: Champion of The Reds. What are “reds,” you ask? The thickest, richest, most bleeding-heart color filtration that saturates every inch of screen. Crimson cinematography splashes...

Image
Drag has been under attack in various parts of the United States, with laws aiming to restrict public performance popping up in Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, and Kentucky, among many others. We spoke with several performers living and working in those embattled states to find out what...

Matthew McConaughey Kicked Off His Acting Career By Improvising A Classic Dazed And Confused Line
Image
Matthew McConaughey's career has gone through some rather distinct stages. There were his early days in the '90s when he took on serious parts in films like "Contact" and "Amistad," which got his name out there in Hollywood. Then, in the 2000s, he was mostly associated with romantic comedies like "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" and "Failure to Launch," changing his image to more of a handsome leading man type. Fearing that his streak of rom coms was leading to him being typecast, McConaughey took a hiatus from acting from 2009 to 2011, returning once again to more serious dramatic roles in movies like "Magic Mike" and "The Lincoln Lawyer" before he hit acting gold, winning a Best Actor Oscar for his performance in "Dallas Buyer's Club" in 2013.

The shift of focus was dubbed "The McConaissance," and McConaughey's standing as a legitimate and desirable actor in Hollywood soared once again.
