I never watched any other stand-up comedy from Lewis Black before this one so I couldn't compare Thanks For Risking Your Life with his previous shows, but from reading the reviews I see this wasn't his best show. From what I saw today it was okay but not immediately the thing that makes me laugh from beginning till the end. There are too many gaps and curses to make this stand-up comedy feel fluent and prepared, now it just felt a bit like ranting against the world. Maybe I'll give an older show a try to see if that's any better but this one didn't convince me to be honest.

This had some moments that were really funny, but there were long pauses and stretches where his stuttering delivery and weird looney tunes style noises detracted from it all. It seemed more like a show where he was working on stuff rather than a show where he had it all worked out. Okay for fans, but this isn't a top shelf special by any means.

    Sad excuse for Lewis Black.

The rants are uninteresting and laregely unfunny.

Don't know if he had contract obligations to meet, but if not ,this should never have seen the light of day.
  • To get even the most elusive point across. In this instance many difficult, subtle, complex points, not the least of which is/was how to skewer an element so bizarre, abstract, ludicrous, squirrely, smarmy, ugly . . . Like nailing jello to a wall . . . And yet he manages to, first define the point in innocuous terms, and then wring it by its not-so-innocuous neck and dangle it, first skewered, then nailed to the wall before us.

Covid, science, fake news, news commentary, aging, assisted living, economics, children, politics, politicians. And all of it of and in a period when nobody else could even find a way to bring them in front of an audience. Lewis always finds a way . . .
  • This MoFu might wanna move to North Korea and live the rest of his life happily ever after. He is not made for challenging matters and accepting different opinions.
  • Going stir crazy here amidst corona and freezing temps and no heat! Well, we have one heater, but the cats have it... long story. Anyway, the people have blankets. Depressing, as you might guess! My therapist didn't even want to talk to me, true story! I looked on Prime. I thought to myself, I have just got to have one of those things that makes you laugh until everything else just disappears! I checked out all of the new movies nd. most were serious, or horrifying, being so close after Halloween! Then I see this guy wearing a face mask, looks like he could be one of my neighbors! I watch the trailer, catchy, fun, decent looking guy. I negotiate the viewing rate, anywhere from $3.99 to rent SD to $9.99 to buy HD. I ca tell you now, this is where I made my first mistake because I should have bought this! Now I'm going to have to spend the $9.99 to buy it anyway. For less than $10, it is the best pick me up I have found since "Nanette" Gadsby!!

i'm just really glad that I did not P my pants because it got very close a few times there! And there's a few things I am dying to comment on from the show but I refuse to be a spoiler! Anyone who watches this and doesn't laugh until they cry and almost Pee their pants... God love you I can't help you!

I like Lewis or liked. Not sure what his message is but didn't seem all that positive for a president that was the most positive for Israel in a long time!

Wonder how funny he will be now.

Having rewatched this just over a year from my last watching. I have come to the conclusion that he was actually afraid of what the nut in the White House would do in the wake of an offensive joke. He shied away from the vax mandates, the endless harm and number deaths.

He was to me as much of a never DJT but refrained from anything meaningful.
  • Lewis Blacks latest work is right along the lines of all his work. I am glad he is still alive. I was happy to support his efforts to be out there and keep working. I hope you all rent this too. I cannot say this is his best work. It is not bad. If you are in a quarantine environment, and you have already spent over a thousand dollars in rental fees, and purchases from amazon prime this month. Why not spend another 4 bucks to see a great comedian plying his trade. Carry on Lewis. Great to see you.
