Time again for another cinematic look at fractured, non-conventional families, a subject that’s also popular on TV and in novels. This story concerns a quartet of sisters, ranging from 13 to 29, sharing a home with no parental figures in sight (for most of the tale). You might think you’ve seen this “drama-dy” before , but not in this way, or in this unique setting. This family fable is not set in the Us or Europe, but rather in Asia, Japan to be precise. It’s not adapted from a stage play, nor a standard literary best seller or “young adult” novel. This film springs from a comic book, which Us academics now call “graphic novels”, but best known in the far East as “manga”, a medium usually thought to feature mind-blowing science fiction and strange supernatural fantasies. Hey, if our comics can delve into subjects other than superhero epics, then...

A round-up on the practical effects Greg Nicotero and co. used to achieve memorable moments in The Walking Dead (incl. Carl's hair)…
Warning: contains spoilers for The Walking Dead seasons 1-6. And gory images. Ugh.
Hairdressers exist after the undead apocalypse. We know this to be the case in The Walking Dead not only because we met one—Rick’s ill-fated girlfriend Jessie—but because the majority of characters have been able to maintain some kind of post-global destruction ‘do. Carol has a pixie crop. Daryl sports a complicated homage to Link from Zelda, and you could happily roll marbles around on Abraham’s flat-top all the live-long day.
One character though, has thus far defied the scissors: Carl Grimes. And now, after the events of season 6B, we know why.
“There’s a reason why [Carl’s] hair’s so long,” VFX veteran and director Greg Nicotero said in this Kimberley Potts interview.

The Walking Dead season 6 returns to AMC this Sunday the 14th of February. Here's a spoiler-free look at episode 9, No Way Out...
The problem with what I'm about to say regarding The Walking Dead's season 6 midseason premiere, No Way Out, is that I've said it plenty of times before... only to be proven wrong by the end of each 8-episode run. But here goes nothing: The Walking Dead has spun its best episode in years with No Way Out, which was directed by the very capable Greg Nicotero and written by Seth Hoffman, who also penned the pretty action-packed Jss.
First off, some people find fault with Nicotero's directing. His offerings are usually the trippiest of the bunch and are often experimental. Who can forget last year's surreal What's Happened And What's Going On and this year's First Time Again—the one with the black-and-white flashbacks?...

One mediocre episode doesn't detract what has been a great half season of The Walking Dead, but it's still a disappointment...
This review contains spoilers.
6.8 Start To Finish
One of the best things about dying on The Walking Dead is that you always get a lot to say before you shamble off the mortal coil and find your way to your shallow, post-apocalyptic grave. That usually works out really well for the actors, who get to do something dramatic and capture a lot of attention, and it's typically fun for the writers, because they get to write up some sort of dramatic or emotionally resonant dialogue where a dying person conveys some truth to a still-living person. Given the set-up for this week's episode—a building damaged in the fight with the Wolves collapses into the wall—it's only natural that people plural are going to die,...

Problem after problem keep piling up for Rick Grimes and the gang in The Walking Dead season 6, and it's making for great TV...
This review contains spoilers.
6.7 Heads Up
At the time, I was critical of the placement of the super-sized Morgan episode Here's Not Here. It was in the very middle of the first half of season six, splitting up what was one of the show's three best back-to-back-to-back episodes with a flashback side-quest concerning a secondary character and some folks we would never get to see again. It was a great episode, but it came in the middle of some very tense stuff. Rick was stranded in an Rv surrounded by walkers, The wolves had been beaten back by the Alexandrians but could be regrouping, and Schrodinger's Glenn was stuck in the middle of a ravenous horde, with show staff unwilling to either admit he...

Daryl and Abraham are the focus of The Walking Dead season 6, episode 6, which paves the way for a new group of villains...
This review contains spoilers.
6.6 Always Accountable
One of The Walking Dead's biggest strengths is the show's ability to find a character and somehow make that person into a break-out star who becomes popular with the fans beyond all the others. Daryl was pretty much that character, and he has been since the show's second season. Carol was another one, breaking out of her suburban routine and becoming a full-fledged, beloved action hero. Beth went from a suicidal nobody who barely got screen time to someone that fans are still asking about to this very day.
And now, we've got Abraham. He's got a way with words—colourful rather than classy—and a very distinctive flat-top and moustache combination that makes him instantly recognisable. The...

In the latest Walking Dead casting news, Jeffrey Dean Morgan will play comic-book character, Negan in the season 6 finale...
Now that Abraham, Rosita, Father Gabriel and co. have been established as regulars in The Walking Dead TV universe, one comic-book character in particular has moved up the "most-anticipated newcomer" list. His name? Negan.
Introduced in issue #100 of The Walking Dead comics, Negan made a brutal entrance in Robert Kirkman's series and went on to become the second major antagonist for Rick's group since The Governor. Armed with a barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat, affectionately nicknamed Lucille, he's the leader of a group known as The Saviors, and one dangerous villain.
And now we know who'll be playing him on TV. Supernatural, Grey's Anatomy and Watchmen actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan is stepping into the role just in time for The Walking Dead season six finale, according to the IMDb.

The Walking Dead focuses on the Alexandrians and features two stand-out performances this week, leaving one big question mark hanging...
This review contains spoilers.
6.5 Now
I am going to confess something that I find a little bit shameful. I am having a lot of trouble remembering the names of all the characters from Alexandria. Some of them I remember; Aaron springs to mind pretty well, and Deanna is hard to forget thanks to her name being turned into a meme. However, when it comes to the rank and file, I'm hard pressed to keep track of anyone else. I'm aware that Carl's little frenemy is Ron, but it takes some digging despite being the best name anyone could ever have. Most of the others are boiled down to simple descriptions: the doctor girl, the pantry lady, that balding guy, Alexandra Breckenridge...
I'm not sure if the issue...

In a hardly-surprising piece of news, AMC has ordered season 7 of The Walking Dead and renewed The Talking Dead...
This may not come as a huge surprise, but we thought you'd like to know anyway - AMC has ordered season 7 of The Walking Dead, and renewed its companion talk show The Talking Dead.
AMC's big chief Charlie Collier released this statement:
"Thank goodness someone had a Magic 8-Ball with them in our many long internal meetings about these renewals. When, on the third shake, ‘without a doubt’ filled the murky blue screen, we knew we had to proceed with new seasons of The Walking Dead and Talking Dead. All joking aside, we are so proud to share these shows with fans who have been so passionate, communicative and engaged. We are grateful for and continually impressed by the talent, effort and excellence on continuous display by Robert Kirkman,...

The Walking Dead season 6 takes a solid, but frustrating, breather from the main tale to explain how Morgan got his groove back...
This review contains spoilers.
6.4 Here's Not Here
We've seen Morgan at every stage of his post-apocalyptic life. We've seen the father struggling to keep life normal for his son in walker-haunted King County. We've seen the schizophrenic, trapped in a lair of his own making, muttering about clearing in between homicidal outbursts. We've seen the walking ronin, trailing after Rick and company. Now we've seen Morgan the born-again pacifist, letting Wolves go free and avoiding killing thanks to his strong moral code. However, we haven't seen what takes Morgan back from the brink and restores his humanity to him. This is the episode that fills in those gaps.
We know where we're starting, and we know where we're ending up. There's a certain path that has to be followed,...

Season six of The Walking Dead is shaping up to be its best, most dramatic run yet, but drama comes with unwelcome sacrifice...
This review contains spoilers.
6.3 Thank You
I've been positive about The Walking Dead for a long time. Even the second season, the show's worst, had plenty of bright spots in it to be positive about. New characters, some very inventive special effects, chaotic zombie action. The show knows what we want, and it gives it to us. So far, the sixth season of The Walking Dead is shaping up to be the show's best, because I cannot think of another three-episode run that's been quite as good as this one.
The show has been improving since that second season. The action quotient has been increased in spite of budgetary limitations. The writing has become drastically better, opting to show much more than it tells.

After the previous episode's teasing, this week's The Walking Dead is a feast of violence...
This review contains spoilers.
6.2 Jss
The Walking Dead's best character has been Carol Peletier, and it's been that way for a couple of seasons now. She started out as the happy homemaker—the very role she's playing around Alexandria—taking canned food or raw game and making it palatable for finicky modern taste buds. Carol is consistently showing off the skills she learned in the years before the apocalypse, from making cookies without refined sugar to turning celery soup into something edible via the magic of paprika and water chestnuts. She's worked a little of that kitchen magic on herself, too, transforming from a meek mouse into a wolf in sheep's clothing, as dangerous and deadly as the gang of attackers scaling Alexandria's walls.
After Carol's impromptu cooking lesson, the episode lingers on some domestic drama.

The Walking Dead is back, and with an ambitious, yet extremely effective season premiere last week, the sixth instalment of the popular television series has started off with one hell of a bang. As always, fans are settled in for what should be a fantastic season.
The group is sitting comfortable in Alexandria, well, as comfortable as one can with a horde of 1000+ walkers making its way to your front garden, but it seems the setting won’t be changing any time soon. It also looks like the season may feature a nice medium between character development and zombie action, if ‘First Time Again’ was anything to go by.
As we await the eventual arrival of The Wolves, there are a number of characters whose individual stories are enough to keep fans tuned in every week. These include major characters, who should be taking up the bulk of the airtime every episode,...

The Walking Dead returned to Us screens on Sunday night, with the show’s huge fanbase wondering what was next for Rick Grimes and Co. amongst the apparent safe-haven of the Alexandria community.
Now, The Walking Dead is never a show to go easy on shocks, with death and carnage aplenty laced throughout each season. Hell, let’s not forget that this is a show that has even gone as far as to show a child getting executed, so fans entered season 6 knowing that almost anything could, and invariably would, happen.
With a new season that promises so much, particularly when it pertains to the ominous Wolves and even the hope of a Negan arrival, viewers are sure to be left proclaiming Wtf many a time over the next few months. Take another look @ the Season 6 debut episode of AMC's "The Walking Dead", titled "First Time Again", airing October 11, 2015:
"...the safety of 'Alexandria' is shattered by multiple threats.
"To make it, the people of Alexandria will need to catch up with our survivors’ hardness...
"...while many of our survivors will need to take a step back from the violence and pragmatism they’ve needed to embrace.
"These reversals won’t happen easily, or without conflict. But now the group 'Rick Grimes' is fighting...
"...is challenged for something more than survival.
"They’re fighting for their home, and they will defend that at any cost, against any threat...
"...even if that threat comes from within..."

“That’s how it is. You always think there’s one more peanut butter left.”
One thing that you have to love about The Walking Dead is that every season there’s a new stake and a higher cost to consider for our survivors. Every season has seen Rick’s world get smaller and smaller, starting with herds on highways and the Center for Disease Control basically throwing in the towel at the mercy of the zombie apocalypse. Now Rick’s world has gotten so much smaller, as has everyone else’s. It’s always been a wonder to Rick and everyone else why Alexandria has remained untouched and generally oblivious to the outside world and the infected. Rick accidentally gets an insight into...

The Walking Dead returns for season 6 with a stylish, character-focused opener that cleverly sets up next week's episode...
This review contains spoilers.
6.1 First Time Again
One show ends with a giant zombie horde attack, the other show begins by attempting to avoid the same fate. If you ever wanted some ammunition to compare the first season of Fear The Walking Dead to the sixth season of The Walking Dead, this is it. One has one of the largest cities in the world depicted as mostly empty. The other has a tiny town in the suburbs of Washington DC beset by what appears to be thousands of zombies milling around in a gravel pit, shambling down a road, and smashing recklessly into haphazardly-built retaining walls. One's the best-performing new show in cable history, and the other is five seasons of being the biggest, most-watched show on cable, breaking history with every season debut.

Shock gives you a spoiler-saturated recap of The Walking Dead’s sixth season premiere. After the grim finale of Season 5, The Walking Dead Season 6’s premiere episode opens up with a monochromatic recap of Rick’s Deanna-authorized murder of Pete before jamming into a full color, epic visage of a canyon filled with corpses. We’ve all been waiting long enough, fellow fans, and The Walking Dead Season 6 has finally begun. Boy, has it ever! I’m pretty sure you’ve heard somewhere that “the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” And if you haven’t, I’m pretty sure you’ve lived long enough to know that Plan B is usually just as good as Plan A, and neither one is all that great. (I usually just plan for the worst. That way, I’m never disappointed.) And with that in mind … Episode 1, “First Time Again,” is artfully constructed with a flip-flop between converging segments shot in … Continue reading →

Welcome back, Walking Dead fans. If you were hoping for a lot of zombie action right out of the gate, the season 6 premiere certainly delivers. The episode also plays around with time a bit, showing us both the immediate aftermath of Rick's execution of Pete in last season's finale and the present-day events involving all that zombie action. But the most interesting part of The Walking Dead's season 6 premiere, "First Time Again," is the introduction of Morgan into the main group and seeing how his relationship with Rick has changed since their last meeting back in season 3.

AMC's "The Walking Dead" may be a ratings juggernaut, but in five seasons it only has two Best Prosthetic Makeup wins to show for its 13 Emmy nominations. In 2011 the "Days Gone By" episode prevailed, while in 2012 it was the "What Lies Ahead" episode. Will the much-anticipated sixth season (premiering Sunday, October 11) bring the zombie series back into the Emmy spotlight? Watch the official trailer below. -Break- Click here to see the updated list of all 2015 Emmy episode submissions The Season 6 premiere, "First Time Again," is written by Scott M. I’d been a Sega kid in my formative years as a gamer thanks to an ill-advised decision from my parents to buy me a Mega Drive (that’s a Genesis, for you in the colonies) rather than a Snes. Like any true Sega gamer, I used to convince myself that I had the best machine. Mario? Pfft. He was just a fat plumber fighting an angry turtle. Sonic was the man (figuratively). He was radical and gnarly and other embarrassing nineties words. He had kick ass shoes, and he was super fast, and he had to fight a crazy moustachio’d scientist to save the animals. And we were all about nature in the early nineties. That’s where Captain Planet and Earth Song came from. Sonic the Hedgehog rocked my socks.
Except Sonic the Hedgehog was, for lack of a better word, shit, and I’d been kidding myself the whole time.

With Fear The Walking Dead set to wrap up next week, The Walking Dead will finally return for its 16 episode sixth season on October 11th.
Today, AMC has released a new 30 second promo for the premiere which clearly shows that tensions in the Alexandria Safe-Zone are going to be at an all-time high this year, especially with Rick and Morgan seemingly butting heads. We also get a glimpse at the 650 strong (a record for the show) group of zombies that will be attacking the survivors in the 90 minute opening episode.
Titled “First Time Again,” the season six premiere of The Walking Dead is described as follows by the cable network:
Rick and the group are still having trouble assimilating into Alexandria. Will a new threat bring them closer together or drive them farther apart?

Nicki Minaj's ex-boyfriend Safaree Samuels, who dated the rapper for 11 years, is now telling all.
In a lengthy interview with Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club on Tuesday, Samuels talked about the nature of his once notoriously private relationship with the 32-year-old rapper, claiming that he was the one who "walked away" from their decade-long romance.
"I'm not going to say I broke up, but I'm the one who walked away," he says bluntly. "I packed up my stuff and I left. ... If I wanted to make it work, I could've made it work."

Samuels, who says his role was "everything" to the "Anaconda" rapper, alleges he ended the relationship because the "respect wasn't there."
"Everyone around her works for her, you know?" he explains. "So it got to the point where it was like, 'I'm your man. I'm who you go to sleep with every...

She loves showing fans all angles of her life, and Nicki Minaj is once again doing a documentary for the MTV Network. Following up her “Nicki Minaj: My Time Now” project from 2010, the “Super Bass” babe will star in “Nicki Minaj: My Time Again” when it hits the airwaves on January 18th.
And in the newly-released trailer, it’s pretty obvious that Nicki’s life has gotten even crazier and more emotional than it was in the first show. The one-minute preview includes footage of Nicki’s backup dancer getting bitten by a snake at the Video Music Awards as well as several wardrobe malfunctions.
Minaj tells the camera, “No one could prepare for this business. Until you are in it, you really can’t wrap your brain around it. When I’m faced with crazy adversities, I turn on a switch that I don’t even know I have sometimes.

Nicki Minaj Freaks Out Over Snake Bite, Cops to Stealing Bread in MTV Documentary Trailer—Watch Now!
Before Nicki Minaj made it big, she had no idea what fame would entail. In the trailer for her upcoming MTV documentary My Time Again, the 32-year-old rapper says that "until you are in it [the spotlight], you really can't wrap your brain around it." Up-and-coming Nicki, for example, probably didn't see boa constrictor bites as a foreseeable problem in her future, but during a rehearsal for the 2014 MTV VMAs this past August, that's exactly what she encountered. In the clip, we see the "Anaconda" rapper's visual shock when she learns that one of her backup dancers was bittten by the snake. "Oh my, god," she exclaims. "She got bit?!" Oh, she got bit,...

Nicki Minaj took to Twitter on Thursday night to unveil the trailer for her second behind-the-scenes documentary, My Time Again, the follow-up to 2010's My Time Now. The footage is your typical look-at-all-this drama teaser: emotional strife, pressure, high stakes, etc. But then there's this line: "When I was a waitress, we had to steal bread and eat that." (Need to know more about this, which looks like it was directed at a backup dancer, Asap.) This installment will also have everything from snake bites to doughnuts to Nicki's grandma — it all drops on January 18 at 10 p.m. on MTV.

A sequel to the greatest Christmas film of all time is finally being made, without its original star.
It's Turbo Time again. But not the Turbo Time you remember. That Turbo Time is gone forever, like a a fart from Ted the Reindeer in the winter wind. Admit it: Jingle All the Way is a guilty pleasure that is best consumed in secret every holiday, like cheap boxed wine. Even now, the classic lines from that film are running through your head with a bad Austrian accent tied to it.

It came as news broke that Twentieth Century Fox and WWE Studios (yeah, there's a movie studio for a fake sport) were teaming up on a Jingle All the Way sequel. It...

The fact that the NFL has shunned a 6’3 230lb quarterback with a starting record of 7-4 may not baffle you, but the fact that he led his team to 7 game winning drives including his first playoff game against the defending Afc champion Pittsburgh Steelers should make you cringe. Since then he’s followed up that stellar upset by spiraling into obscurity quicker than any other Qb in NFL history and jettisoned from the league. No we’re not talking about a hot head like Ryan Leaf or scrubs like Tim Couch or JaMarcus Russell; this is the plight of Timothy Tebow. His three releases in just as many years without taking any quality snaps have some people calling it foul. His critics say he can’t throw and his admirers believe he can prove them wrong, but regardless of what you think Tim Tebow would be an upgrade for several...

Glee‘s farewell episode to Finn will “deal directly with the drug abuse” that felled his portrayer Cory Monteith, Fox president Kevin Reilly told reporters Thursday at the Television Critics Assoc. summer press tour in Beverly Hills. However, Reilly stopped short of saying Finn’s death would be the result of an overdose.
“The third episode deals with writing Finn out of the show,” Reilly confirmed, adding that the hour will be accompanied by a series of drug-related PSAs featuring series creator Ryan Murphy and members of the show’s cast.
“Cory was a big, open wonderful life force,” Reilly continued.

Presto the rabbit might disagree, but magic rarely sells at the box office. Time again, the life of the great escapologist, Harry Houdini, has seemed to be heading to the screen; time and again circumstances have conspired against it. This time Summit Entertainment may have nailed the slippery so-and-so, with Dean Parisot aboard. The Galaxy Quest director is currently putting the finishing touches on Summit's geriatric actioner Red 2 and, claims Deadline Hollywood, the studio are leveraging that existing relationship to tie him to their adaptation of Noah Oppenheim's script. Hunger Games' Gary Ross was attached as recently as 2012, but subsequently withdrew in favour of other projects, Civil War drama The Free State of Jones among them.Back in 2009, Summit snapped up the rights to William Kalush and Larry Sloman’s book The Secret Life Of Houdini, The Making Of America’s First Superhero, which came out in 2006 and...
