Marvel has been coming up with a lot of new strategies to fix the mistakes they have made these past few years. One of the most creative solutions has to be the concept of Marvel Spotlight. Many fans were upset with how every single project in Marvel had a level of continuity to another, which made casual watching impossible.

Quentin Tarantino loves film. Few filmmakers can boast such a wide knowledge of movies, especially the B-films and grindhouse works that have inspired his greatest cinematic accomplishments. Tarantino also loves to talk about future projects. Put those two passions together and you get a guy who often teases movies he never actually ends up making.
Of course, it’s not always talk. Many of his best movies, including Kill Bill and Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood started as ideas that he blabbed about to anyone who would listen. But while that approach builds excitement, it also sets up fans for disappointment, such as when it was revealed that he had abandoned The Movie Critic, which for months was teased as the director’s 10th and final film.
Now including The Movie Critic, here are the most intriguing Tarantino projects that never got made.

In the wake of the Halloween special on Disney+ back in 2022, Marvel Comics is bringing their Werewolf by Night back to life with a brand new Red Band comic book series!
What does that mean? Marvel previews, “This summer, Werewolf By Night embarks on new adventures so violent and bloody, it can only be told in Marvel’s new Red Band format!”
Werewolf by Night, Jack Russell’s new solo ongoing series, will be written by Jason Loo, writer of the upcoming Werewolf by Night: Blood Hunt one-shot, and drawn by artist Sergio Dávila, known for his bold work on titles like Venom and Thor.
Marvel’s premier horror icon will undergo a startling transformation during Blood Hunt that will cause his upcoming battles and hunts to be too graphic for some readers.

Unlike their golden run on the big screen till phase 3, Marvel didn’t quite replicate its huge success on the small screen, with most of the Disney Plus MCU shows earning less-than-stellar reception. While fans have complained about MCU’s recent catalog being bloated following the abundance of TV shows, Marvel has also abandoned an overwhelming number of TV shows over the years.
This involves several renowned superheroes, including a Captain Britain show, which was greenlit long before the rise of Disney Plus and MCU TV shows.

Back in 2016, rumors regarding a Captain Britain show being in the early stages of development emerged. Poster artist Clara McAvoy claimed she was being paid to do a promo poster for it, assuring fans an official announcement might be heading our way in early 2017 or late 2016. Unfortunately, it never happened, leading many to speculate Marvel might have put the kibosh on it.

Avengers: Endgame was one of the most culturally significant films of all time. It was the perfect example of Marvel at its finest, with some of the loudest theaters that had fans feeling an entire range of emotions. However, sadness was the one most felt by fans, who could not believe that they were seeing the legendary Tony Stark die in front of their eyes.
Josh Brolin’s Thanos in Avengers: Endgame
It would not be too far-fetched to say that the film traumatized many fans. However, it would seem that there was an earlier version of the movie which would have been a lot darker, one where Chris Evans’ Captain America gets decapitated.
A Draft Of Avengers: Endgame Took On A Different Tone
Avengers: Endgame had some of the most iconic scenes in the entire MCU. From the jokes to character interactions, fight sequences, and not to mention, the portal scene.

Composer turned director Michael Giacchino is said to be in line to helm an MCU take on one of Marvel Comics’ supernatural teams, Midnight Sons.
Here’s one fresh from the rumour mill: reports are suggesting that Marvel Studios is putting a new team-up project together featuring some of its supernatural characters, based on the Midnight Sons series of comic books.
According to the report, Midnight Sons is ‘a team of supernatural superheroes that includes Blade, Morbius and at least two versions of Ghost Rider. Other members have included Moon Knight, Doctor Strange, Man-Thing, Wolverine, Iron Fist, Wong and many more.’
Lots of those characters currently exist in some sort of MCU continuity, so the top brass at Marvel would have no problem putting together a roster. Blade, Wong, Doctor Strange and Moon Knight seem like the safest picks given that they have have appeared in the MCU proper. Given...

A couple months ago, we heard a rumor that a team of supernatural characters known as the Midnight Sons might be coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe… and now Oscar Isaac has let it be known that if a Midnight Sons project were to happen, he wants his MCU character Moon Knight to be part of it!

It feels that the term “superhero movie” used to be a subgenre that could take on many forms. For example, Logan was a Western epic with super-powered characters at the core, but the tone was nothing like any of the other X-Men films of years past. Or the way Constantine gave us a dark horror-thriller with demons and monsters but kept the detective-slash-noir aesthetic and allowed it to bleed through. But, these days, it feels like nearly all of the caped cinema we’re getting fits into the same all-encompassing, mass-appealing mega-genre that has started to feel the same across every film- With the rare exception of movies like The Batman or Marvel’s recent Werewolf By Night, there’s been a frustrating lack of variety in the tones of modern comic book cinema. But back in 2011, Marvel was in the infancy of building out there now-dominating connected universe by...

Marvel Studios has even dipped into TV-ma territory for brief moments as well, giving 2022's Moon Knight plenty of violent yet non-r-rated moments as well as Werewolf By Night.

"The Boys" universe is continuing to expand — and now the franchise is headed to Mexico. That's right! Amazon MGM Studios is now developing another show in the ever-growing universe based on the comic books by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson titled "The Boys: Mexico." While it's still in the very early stages, the show has assembled a pretty impressive team behind the scenes to get the ball rolling.
According to Deadline, Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer is set to write and executive produce the new Mexican-set spin-off. What's more, Gabriel Luna ("Andor") and Gael García Bernal ("Werewolf by Night") are also on board as executive producers and might also appear on screen, though they wouldn't be taking on major roles. Plot details for the series currently remain under wraps but the report states that the series is expected to eventually film in Mexico, rather than in the U.S. or Canada, for example.

Marvel Studios is set to launch a new banner titled “Marvel Spotlight” with the upcoming release of the limited series “Echo,” starring Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez. Marvel Studios' shared universe model launched one of the most successful movie franchises of all time, and quickly became the envy of Hollywood. After "The Avengers" grossed $1.5 billion at the box office, every studio was racing to establish its own cinematic universe (some more successful than others). But 15 years after Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man made his big screen debut, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is groaning under the weight of its own continuity.
It's a problem that has particularly been exacerbated by the McU's expansion onto Disney+. Keen to build subscribers for its new streaming service, Disney premiered eight MCU TV shows in less than two years, a move that even CEO Bob Iger has said "diluted focus and attention" for the brand. Now, in an apparent effort to shed the feeling that each new MCU release requires an exhausting amount of homework, Marvel Studios is launching a new banner called Marvel Spotlight.

Amid the debate over whether movies have gotten too long is the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the longest entry, Avengers: Endgame, surpassing three hours. Those aren’t Martin Scorsese numbers and don’t “require” an intermission, but that undoubtedly puts it in “epic” territory. One movie that won’t be joining the MCU’s penchant for excessive runtimes is its next, The Marvels, which clocks in at a mere 105 minutes, according to the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC).
The fact that we feel the need to even point out just how different The Marvels’ runtime is compared to most of its predecessors really says something about the overinflated lengths within the MCU. Consider this: eight other MCU movies have exceeded the 140-minute mark, with three outside of Endgame hitting two and a half hours or more. But we also have to wonder: Is The Marvels really all that short...

The character is pretty simple! He looks cool, he has cool weapons, and he kills vampires. That's it, really. It's not that complicated. And yet, Kevin Feige and company continue to struggle with the project, which is set to star Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali in the lead role of the Daywalker. The project, along with Ali's casting, was first announced in 2019, and it's apparently been all downhill since then.
Stacy Osei-Kuffour was initially tapped to write the film, with Bassam Tariq directing. But Tariq left the project due to constant shuffling of the production and creative differences. Decades before Marvel Studios brought Werewolf by Night to the screen on Disney+, comic book creator Roy Thomas was dreaming up his own horror-centric special presentation.
Thomas, the former Marvel editor in chief and co-creator of Werewolf by Night and a number of others Marvel characters, recently unearthed a 1958 short film he made with his friends as a teenager in Jackson, Missouri. Thomas scripted Les Ghouls and acted in it alongside pals that included Gary Friedrich, who would go on to co-create the well-known character Ghost Rider with Thomas when they both were at Marvel.
Thomas shared Les Ghouls with The Hollywood Reporter in honor of Marvel debuting a color version of 2022’s black and white Werewolf by Night last week. Les Ghouls was an homage to 1948’s Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, which was a favorite of him and his friends. Thomas’ friend John Short, who owned the camera,...

In 2021, Marvel entered a new phase.
Not just Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which would catch up with new and old heroes in the aftermath of “Avengers: Endgame,” but a phase of multi-pronged storytelling synergy unlike anything before it. In Phase 4, the MCU embraced television with multiple Disney+ streaming series, driving subscribers to the platform with more Marvel content than ever before.
Major franchises like have previous explored the coexistence of live-action films and TV shows — as well as cartoons, comics, and graphic novels — but with clear narrative priorities. There hasn’t been a new tentpole Star Wars movie since Disney+, so those series haven’t had to share the spotlight yet; meanwhile, the MCU churns out both theatrical releases and streaming series with regularity, all of it set in roughly the same timeline and universe with interconnected characters, plot lines, and settings.

Werewolf by Night was a fun departure from typical Marvel fare, with a black-and-white presentation that felt inspired by Universal Monsters and Hammer Horror, but will we ever see these characters again? Nothing has been announced regarding a sequel or follow-up to Werewolf by Night, but director Michael Giacchino told Collider that he has plenty of ideas for more if and when Marvel comes calling.
“There’s always talk,” Michael Giacchino said. “But, you know, until somebody decides to spend a penny, nothing happens yet. So, hopefully. My wish is that, yes, there will be more with these characters. I would love to, and I have ideas of what I would love to do with them, and it’s all crazy and nuts, but I think that’s the only way to go about it. So, hopefully, one day. Hopefully, one day.“

One of the highlights of this year’s Halloween celebration from Disney+ is the return of Marvel Studios’ special Werewolf by Night, which claws its way back into our lives in Full Color.
The Disney+ Halloween special was unleashed last year in black & white, giving it a classic horror throwback feel. This will be the first time you’ll be able to watch the special in color.
Werewolf by Night in Color premieres Friday, October 20, only on Disney+.
Now presented in vibrant color, Marvel Studios’ Werewolf by Night in Color takes place on a dark and somber night as a secret cabal of monster hunters emerge from the shadows and gather at the foreboding Bloodstone Temple following the death of their leader.

Last year, Marvel and Disney+ released the very cool creature feature Halloween special Werewolf by Night (you can read our 8/10 review Here), which was presented in black & white as a throwback to the Universal Monsters classics. They don’t have a new Halloween special for us this year, but they will be celebrating the holiday by releasing a colorized presentation of Werewolf by Night – appropriately called Werewolf by Night: In Color. This version of the special is set to begin streaming on Disney+ on October 20th, and one week out from that premiere date a trailer has arrived online to give a preview of what Werewolf by Night looks like in color. According to the promo, color makes it all more terrifying and more gruesome.
Composer Michael Giacchino directed Werewolf by Night, working from a script by Heather Quinn and Peter Cameron. The special has the following synopsis: On a dark and somber night,...

When we’re talking about media franchises, not movie franchises, media franchises, that means that we’re talking about a brand that spawned more than just movies and TV shows. And the Marvel Cinematic Universe did just that. While it’s primarily centered on movies and television series became an official part of the canon in 2021, MCU also spawned many comic book and video game tie-ins. Apart from that, the MCU also spawned animated series, television specials, and themed areas in Disneylands around the world.
We’ve seen everything from the MCU so far, but television specials are pretty interesting in this case. The first television special set in the MCU canon, ‘Werewolf by Night,’ was released in October 2022, and many fans deemed it a Halloween special of the franchise. After that, ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special’ was released in November, featuring the titular team and their way of spending the Christmas Holidays.

One of Marvel‘s best offerings in years is returning to Disney+ this October, just in time for Halloween! The howlingly good Werewolf By Night barks at the moon again on October 20 with a colorized version of Jack Russell’s pulpy monster-filled adventure.
In addition to introducing MCU fans to Jack Russell (Gael García Bernal), Werewolf By Night features Elsa Bloodstone (Laura Donnelly), a deadly monster hunter ripped from the pages of Marvel Comics. In September of 2022, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said Jack Russell “will ultimately become quite important to the future of the MCU.” Still, with Marvel’s steaming slate under scrutiny after the studio said it’s pulling back on the reigns of streaming content, the werewolf’s future remains a mystery.
Many fans would jump at the chance for more full-moon shenanigans with Jack Russell, and Donnelly is game to return as Elsa Bloodstone, too. Speaking...

If there's one thing to be said for the Disney Studios Showcase at Destination D23 this year, it's that it gave those of us on the weekend news shift a nice quiet start to Sunday.
First, to give some perspective, here's a quick recap of the headlines from last year's D23 Expo. The 2022 event featured the announcement of two new Pixar movies and Walt Disney Animation Studios' "Wish," the first footage from "Elemental," the first footage from the live-action "Little Mermaid" remake, Rachel Zegler presenting the first teaser for "Snow White," Jude Law presenting a first look at Disney's "Peter Pan & Wendy," and the entire original cast of "Enchanted" showing up to introduce the trailer for "Disenchanted." On the Marvel Studios front, the showcase included a first look at "The Marvels," footage from "Loki" season 2, a preview of "Werewolf By Night," and a teaser for "Secret Invasion," among other treats.

Even if professional wrestling may not be everyone’s cup of tea, numerous stories behind the sports entertainment phenomena are usually quite engaging. Darren Aronofsky has been able to give a heartbreaking look into the complex life using various real-life inspirations for his film, The Wrestler. We will also be getting an equally rough drama with the upcoming Von Erich biopic, The Iron Claw. Even a lighter, more inspiring film like Fighting with My Family can prove to be just as compelling. Prime Video has just released a trailer for a film that gives us a look at the Mexican legacy of pro wrestling, the Lucha Libre, with Cassandro. The film is a biopic of real-life luchador, Saúl Armendáriz.
The official synopsis from Prime Video reads,
“Saúl Armendáriz, a gay amateur wrestler from El Paso, rises to international stardom after he creates the character ‘Cassandro,’ the “Liberace of Lucha Libre.

Starring "Y tu mamá también" heartthrob and scene-stealer in both "Old" and Marvel's "Werewolf by Night" Gael García Bernal, the...

Filmmaker and horror stalwart Larry Fessenden has dedicated an extensive career to independent horror. Fessenden continues to deliver unique interpretations of familiar movie monsters, from the vampiric Habit to a modern Frankenstein retelling with 2019’s Depraved. His latest, Blackout, brings a contemporary horror drama centered around a Wolfman.
