This post contains mild spoilers for "Blood Creek."
Vampire horror movies are a dime-a-dozen, often falling into the same genre trappings or retreading familiar storylines. This is not always a bad thing, though, as long as there's fun to be had: films like "Blade" or "Van Helsing" entertain us by expertly balancing thrilling action with dramatic tension while knowing it is best not to indulge in self-seriousness. Well, what about an odd little vampire tale that is both campy and self-serious, as well as equal parts ridiculous and entertaining? Welcome to Joel Schumacher's unforgettable "Blood Creek," where a Nazi vampire scholar named Richard Wirth (a young Michael Fassbender) wreaks havoc after being freed from captivity by two brothers who really should have known better. Henry Cavill and Dominic Purcell play Evan and Victor Marshall, respectively, and it is up to this duo to try and stop this near-immortal Nazi...

Best known for playing Bill S. Preston, Esq. in the Bill & Ted movies (and for being one of the vampires in The Lost Boys), Alex Winter also has many directing credits to his name, including the 1993 cult classic oddball comedy Freaked. His latest feature directorial effort is Adulthood, which is described as a darkly comic modern noir – and Variety reports that Adulthood has secured a U.S. and Canada distribution deal with Republic Pictures. A release date has not yet been announced.
Winter provided the following statement: “I couldn’t be more excited to be working with Republic Pictures for the North American sales and release of our film. They have great instincts and are dedicated to quality indie movies.“
Scripted by novelist Michael M.B. Galvin, Adulthood tells the story of sister and brother Megan and Noah, who are barely hanging on in present day America. When they discover a dead body,...

We’re somehow already in the fourth quarter of 2024, but the good news is that we’re getting a new Nick Frost horror movie every month as we wrap up this year. The action horror comedy Krazy House, which JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray hated when he caught a screening at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, was given a VOD release on October 4th. The serial killer thriller Get Away will be getting a theatrical release on December 6th. And slotting in between those two is the supernatural horror movie Black Cab, which is coming our way from Shudder, Sony Pictures Television, and Stolen Pictures, and will be released through the Shudder streaming service on November 8th. Our friends at Bloody Disgusting got the first look at the trailer, which is now embedded above.

No one seems as sorted as Julia Roberts, in Hollywood, considering how the actress neither fumbles with her choice of project, nor with her life decisions. So here’s a throwback to when the Runaway Bride actress actually turned her own wedding into the film’s plot. Dumping her fiancée Kiefer Sutherland three days before the wedding, Roberts went her own way in life.

Now, people might assume that actor Kiefer Sutherland must have felt heartbroken and possibly cursed Julia Roberts. But surprisingly, the actor praised his ex-fiancée for her bravery. Implying that everyone gets cold feet before their wedding, but only a few hold the guts to call off the event, Sutherland shockingly embraced Roberts’ courage.

Terrifier 3 smashed box office expectations past weekend, a huge win for indie horror, fans of the Terrifier series, and, of course, everyone who has worked so hard over the last 10+ years to create the Terrifier films. I remember first interviewing Damien Leone when All Hallow's Eve was released, and it's been incredible to see the journey that he and Art the Clown have taken over the years.
Now that horror fans around the world have had a chance to see the film, I wanted to share my recent conversation with Lauren Lavera, who joined me as a special guest on our Corpse Club podcast. Lauren and her character, Sienna, have also had an incredible journey over the course of Terrifier 2 and 3, and we discuss her experience on set, the future of Terrifier, her martial arts background, fan interactions, favorite horror films, and more!

Evangeline Lilly rose to prominence with her role as Kate Austen in the ABC drama Lost. Lilly admitted several times that the role had changed her life and even defended the hated finale of the series, sharing that there was no one interpretation of the finale. However, filming the series was not always a memorable experience for the actress.

During an all-revealing interview, Lilly opened up about her role and some of the tough times she faced on the set of the show. The Ant-Man actress shared that she was forced into doing a couple of partially naked scenes in the series, even after battling for control in those scenes.

Squaring off against criminals in any situation is harrowing enough without adding an armored car and a narrow bridge. The environment is a significant part of the strategic means to potentially violent ends, and Sylvester Stallone did not come to play in Lionsgate‘s Armor trailer.
Justin Routt directs Armor from a screenplay by Adrian Speckert and Corey Todd Hughes. Academy Award nominee Sylvester Stallone and Jason Patric star in Routt’s action-packed thriller about the lengths one man will go to save what’s left of his family and reclaim his own life. James and his son Casey are armored truck drivers tasked with delivering a suspicious package. After a violent ambush on the road, James and Casey become trapped until they discover the value of what they have been carrying and join forces to outgun and outwit their attackers.

Spooky season is upon us and that means we've got some brand new horror movies hitting theaters. For the first time in what feels like a long while, genre fans have a new slasher icon to grace the silver green semi-regularly in the form of Art the Clown, who is back for a new round of rampage in "Terrifier 3." Over the last decade, Damien Leone's killer clown has had a slow but sure rise to fame in the horror world. Now he's returning for his most high-profile killing spree yet -- one that is already causing people to make a break for the exit in theaters. The question for viewers is: does that killing spree end when the credits roll? Or is there more to this one?

In the realm of the box office, it's all relative. A movie that costs $100 million to make can make $100 million in theaters and it becomes a financial trainwreck. A movie that costs $1.5 million to make, such as James Wan's "Insidious," can make that same amount and be the beginning of a long-running franchise. I say this to tee up the ball for the release of "Terrifier 3" in theaters next weekend. Is this movie going to make $100 million? No, it is not. Is it going to make an absolute killing relative to what it cost to make? It certainly appears so, continuing Art the Clown's unlikely rise from relative obscurity to modern slasher superstar.
Director Damien Leone's "Terrifier 3" is currently eyeing an opening weekend between $4 and $8 million, per Box Office Theory. That may not sound like much but let's consider for a moment that this is hitting theaters in its pure,...

Doing the right thing can be challenging. We want to think that we’d take the higher ground when faced with tragedy, but when push comes to shove, we tend to save ourselves when staring down the barrel of a grim fate. In Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2 trailer, Justin Kemp (Nicholas Hoult) must decide what kind of person he is when coming face-to-face with the possibility of being guilty of another man’s crime. The high ground suddenly feels insurmountable, and the choice between freedom and incarceration looms. What would you do?
Clint Eastwood directs Juror #2 from a script by Jonathan A. Abrams. The intense thriller focuses on a family man named Justin Kemp, who struggles with a severe moral dilemma while serving as a juror in a high-profile trial. He could sway the jury with what he thinks he knows, potentially clearing an innocent man, but the information comes at a cost.

I feel fortunate to have started as a little seedling during 1980s Horror, but it was something special to grow into my own fandom of Horror in the 1990s. I’ve been sitting on this one for a while. I Know What You Did Last Summer (watch it Here) might not have been the pinnacle of 90s horror, but it sure as hell left an impression. This movie often gets overshadowed and overlooked, yet it deserves a higher spot among 90s teen slashers. Whether it’s a nostalgic rewatch or a first-time viewing, I Know What You Did Last Summer remains a must-see for its perfect mix of 90s charm, genuine scares, and timeless appeal.
Based very loosely on Lois Duncan’s novel of the same name, I Know What You Did Last Summer was brought to life in 1997 by director Jim Gillespie and writer Kevin Williamson, fresh off his success with Scream.

If you’re going to remake a classic Stephen King adaptation, you’d better do it right. Nobody’s ever topped Brian De Palma’s original “Carrie,” no matter how hard they tried. “It: Chapter One” knocked it out of the park, but “It: Chapter Two” brought it back into the park and poured manure on it, so they more-or-less cancel each other out. The TV mini-series remake of “The Shining” isn’t as bad as everyone remembers, but let’s not go nuts. It’s pretty grim when the 2019 version of “Pet Sematary” is your gold standard, since quality-wise even that’s just a lateral move.
Gary Dauberman’s remake of “Salem’s Lot,” however, raises the bar. It may be the only Stephen King remake that gets it right. Tobe Hooper’s classic mini-series adaptation from 1979 is still scary, and it’s a heck of a lot more insidious than Dauberman’s,...

“Terrifier 3” has not yet arrived in theaters, but already its writer and director Damien Leone confirmed that he will make “Terrifier 4.”
The third installment of the slasher franchise premiered Thursday at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. During a Q&a, Leone affirmed, “Yes there will be a ‘Terrifier 4.’” No further details were given.
The franchise gained a cult following with its first release, but it only became a big name in horror after the sequel came out. “Terrifier 2” surpassed expectations, reaching $15 million in box office sales. The movie’s budget, in contrast, was less than a tenth of that at $250,000.
As for “Terrifier 3,” the cast remains full of the familiar faces with David Howard Thornton returning as Art the Clown. Also returning is Lauren Lavera as Sienna, Elliot Fullam as Jonathan Shaw, Samantha Scaffidi as Victoria Heyes and Chris Jericho as Burke. The movies are known for their extreme gore,...

I love campy teen fodder as much as the next horror fan, but sometimes the film we buy a ticket to see is not exactly what we were given in the trailer…A testosterone-fueled movie about underground fighting might actually be a dark satire that deconstructs masculinity, like Fight Club. Before rewatching Mirrors (get it Here), I was a little confused as to why it’s either forgotten or, honestly, kind of hated on. It was one of those movies that I saw in theaters when it came out and then have clear memories of when it came to my Blockbuster for rent. It’s got a fun cast of reliables and was directed by one of the early 2000s freshest and goriest directors. The director has gone on to have a steady and varied career and his new movie starring Halle Berry called Never Let Go sounds as intriguing as ever. After watching Mirrors again, I still really enjoyed it, but I now understand why it has the reputation it has and why it’s perfect for a black sheep. Let’s take a look but maybe be wary of any mirrors that don’t look exactly right.

The 1995 film "12 Monkeys" was one of the few times a Terry Gilliam film wasn't beset with chaos and production problems. Gilliam is notoriously unlucky — not to mention incredibly headstrong — so many of his features were only made after last-minute disasters, deaths, or other major catastrophes. One can see Gilliam's unluckiness in play in Keith Fulton's and Louis Pepe's 2002 documentary "Lost in La Mancha," which traced the director's first, stalled attempt to make "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote." Also, one doesn't need to be a deep-cut cineaste to know all about the issues Gilliam had with his 1983 sci-fi film "Brazil," a picture that was re-cut multiple times.
For "12 Monkeys," though, everything seemed to work out okay. Based on Chris Marker's 1962 short film "La Jetée," the film begins in 2035 after most of humanity has been killed by a lethal virus. Survivors were forced into underground prisons,...

It takes great actors to make Samuel Beckett’s modernist comedy masterpiece, Waiting for Godot, work. As the character Estragon exclaims toward the play, “Nothing happens, nobody comes, nobody goes, it’s awful!” And in the right hands, it’s hilarious. In the fall of 2025, Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter — that’s right, Bill and Ted — will be giving it a go (or a no-go if you go by the script) on Broadway.
Director Jamie Lloyd will helm the production, which casts Reeves as Estragon and Winter as Vladimir. Reeves,...

The summer horror movie subgenre spoils us all with an embarrassment of riches, but this also means that whenever people come up with a list of recommendations, the same players make an appearance again and again. At this point, you shouldn't need an online list to tell you that "Jaws" is the ultimate July 4th viewing experience. And considering that "Midsommar," "Summer of '84," and "I Know What You Did Last Summer" have the season in the title of the movie, these are also no-brainer suggestions for summer horror movies. Summer is also the season for summer camp movies, so "Sleepaway Camp," the entire "Friday the 13th" franchise, parodies like "The Final Girls," homages like "Fear Street: 1978," and the entire roster of Cabin in the Woods horror movies are all easy picks.
Then there are the countless folk horror films in the vein of "The Wicker Man" that all scream "summer,...

Two years have gone by since a psychological thriller called Apartment 7A – which Relic (watch it Here) director Natalie Erika James helmed for Paramount Players and A Quiet Place collaborators Platinum Dunes and John Krasinski – wrapped filming. Soon after filming came to an end, rumors began to circulate that Apartment 7A was secretly a prequel to the 1968 classic Rosemary’s Baby… and sure enough, that’s exactly what the movie is. It’s set to receive a Paramount+ release in the U.S. and in select international markets on September 27th, kicking off the Halloween season. With two months to go before we reach that release date, Vanity Fair has unveiled several images from the film. You can check them out at the bottom of this article.

K-pop group Nct 127 have released their sixth full-length studio album Walk, alongside a music video for the title track, Monday.
“Walk,” which relies on heavy basslines and an early 2000s hip-hop feel, hints to how the boy band paved their own path to international stardom. In the splashy music video, the nine-member group break into explosive choreography with fire-scorched sneakers and cool their feet in a nearby public pool. Other tracks off of the latest album include “Orange Seoul,” a jazzy melody about Seoul sunsets; “Pricey” a love song set to 808 drums; and “Suddenly,...

Let’s face it, streaming services have lost a lot of their appeal. Between their ever shifting libraries, their kneecapping of theaters, and their tendency to overwhelm viewers with substandard garbage, it’s hard to be excited about our streaming present. Heck, most services now play the same couple of ads over and over, even for paying customers!
With every annoying insurance ad and every movie suddenly shoved from a service you bought to a different service you don’t have, Tubi looks better and better. Tubi is one of many free streaming services available online. Like most other services, free or otherwise, Tubi interrupts the programming with occasional ads.
But Tubi also has an outstanding library, one that rivals Max, with its oft-threatened TCM and Ghibli channels. Still, Tubi can be overwhelming to some users, who can’t always see the gems alongside stinkers such as Big Stan (starring Rob Schneider!

The 1980s were a heyday for Hollywood horror movies thanks to a slasher boom generating a roster of icons, sexy vampires like "The Lost Boys" and "Fright Night," and movies like "The Shining" that appeal to audiences beyond the Real Sickos. But never fear, Sicko Cinema was alive and well throughout the decade, even if your average movie fan isn't familiar with Gary Sherman's "Vice Squad," Katt Shea's "Stripped to Kill," or Robert Vincent O'Neil's "Angel." These were films that were given exponentially smaller budgets and focused on communities deemed too risqué or taboo for the status quo. Deemed "trashy," "exploitative," or "low-brow," these schlock-fests [complimentary] were some of the last vestiges of explicit, fearlessly envelope-pushing cinematic storytelling. As far as I'm concerned, there's been a void ever since.

Legendary actor Donald Sutherland just passed away at the age of 88. Younger fans probably know him best for playing the villainous President Snow in the Hunger Games movies, or perhaps for voicing Hollis Hurlbut in that one episode of The Simpsons.
Older audiences, on the other hand, grew up watching Sutherland in classic movies like M*A*S*H, Don’t Look Now and The Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Although his greatest work, hands down, was this vintage Canadian tourism commercial in which he tells a joke about a salmon fisherman on his wedding day.
Sutherland also starred in one of the most profitable movie comedies of all-time: National Lampoon’s Animal House.
Sutherland played the highly-inappropriate Professor Jennings (who somehow still isn’t the most questionable element of the movie). This may have seemed like an odd role for the actor at the time, but Sutherland only took the gig...

Kiefer Sutherland took to social media to remember his late father, the legendary actor Donald Sutherland, who died on June 20 at 88 years old after a long illness. The “24” and “The Lost Boys” actor remembered his father as a performer who loved his craft and an actor who was one of Hollywood’s most important stars.
“With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away,” Kiefer wrote in a statement on his social media platforms. “I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film. Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived.”

Filming on the highly anticipated horror sequel "Terrifier 3" has wrapped, and with that news comes a bit of casting info! Jason Patric, who had to deal with vampires in the '80s horror classic "The Lost Boys," is now part of the cast of the Damien Leone-directed pic. We don't know who Patric is playing in the movie, but the nature of these films suggest that at some point, Patric's character will face a gruesome, graphic demise. At the very least, he'll end up covered in blood. That's just how things work in the world of "Terrifier."
Patric joins a cast that features Lauren Lavera, Samantha Scaffidi, Elliot Fullam, Chris Jericho, Daniel Roebuck, and of course, David Howard Thornton, who plays everyone's favorite killer, Art the Clown. The Lost Boys wasn’t just a massive box office success, it was also a game-changer in vampire media, making the undead hip again and convincing a whole generation that they too could become juvenile vampire hunters (though I know a lot of people who wouldn’t mind joining Kiefer Sutherland’s punk-rock group of dreamy Nosferatu).
And as is often in the case in Hollywood, the film’s near-instant popularity meant that the studio was immediately interested in a follow-up, with director Joel Schumacher even coming up with a pitch titled “The Lost Girls” meant to follow a different tribe of female vampires. Of course, we all know that this project never materialized, and fans were forever left to wonder about what a proper Lost Boys sequel might look like. Or were they?

Surreal. That’s how Misan Harriman describes his first time at the Academy Awards earlier this year. Six years before, his wife had bought him a Fujifilm X100 for his 40th birthday and encouraged him to start taking pictures with it. Then there he was, surrounded by the global industry’s most overachieving, himself an Oscar-nominated director.
He had always loved film, having been raised on ’80s and ’90s cinema like The Lost Boys, Big Trouble in Little China and Stand By Me. He describes Home Alone, of all things, as “more than entertainment for troubled kids like me,” and will share his connection to the classic movie’s study of “trauma response” and the way it, and films like it, saved him. Born in Nigeria in 1977, Harriman was the only Black kid at his British boarding school. “With my kind of neurodiversity, I’m not supposed to be good at anything,...

In this new ongoing series, a revival of our old C’Mon Hollywood op-eds, we will examine the current political climate surrounding all things “woke” when it comes to the cinematic arts. Are Hollywood studios pushing an agenda or is this idea overblown? Is this creating a division among us peasants? Is it even possible to critique or watch a film without politics coming into play anymore?
Our hot shot team of dedicated researchers may have found out that things might not be so black and white… Pun intended? Who knows anymore?! It is an exciting and scary time to be making and watching movies but that type of chaotic environment allows this medium to experiment and grow. Controversy can always inspire conversation and that’s what we are hoping to do with this new show.

Mark Damon, a film producer, sales executive, and spaghetti Western actor, died at 91, representatives for the executive told Deadline on Sunday night.
Damon, born Alan Harris in Chicago, started his career in Hollywood in 1956 after signing a contract with 20th Century Fox. After starring in House of Usher, Damon won a Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer. The film was directed by Roger Corman, who died on Thursday.
Damon would move to Italy and star in films like The Reluctant Saint (1962), The Young Racers (1963), The Shortest Day (1963), Black Sabbath (1963), 100 Horseman (1964), Secret Agent 777 (1965), Dio, Come Ti Amo! (1966) and Johnny Oro (1966).
he first entered the world of independent sales and production in the 1970s while living and working in Italy where he saw a large market of independent international distributors eager for top American movies. JoBlo.com recently launched a new weekly documentary series called 80s Horror Memories, where each year of the 1980s has five episodes dedicated to it. Looking back at 1980, we discussed Maniac, Dressed to Kill, Alligator, Friday the 13th, The Shining, Prom Night, and The Fog. The second five episodes were a journey through 1981, covering The Funhouse, The Burning, Friday the 13th Part 2, My Bloody Valentine, Halloween II, The Evil Dead, The Howling, and An American Werewolf in London, as well as the careers of horror hosts Elvira and Joe Bob Briggs. The next five were, of course, all about movies that came out in 1982: Conan the Barbarian, The Thing, Halloween III: Season of the Witch, and Poltergeist, with an examination of the short-lived 3-D boom along the way. For 1983, we talked about a trio of Stephen King adaptations, Jaws 3-D, Sleepaway Camp, the rise of TV horror anthologies, and Psycho II.
