With a show as inconsistent as Fear the Walking Dead, you never know what you'll get.
Fear the Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 8 was another middle-of-the-road installment, but it did feature reunions, callbacks, and a shocking death that should usher in the final episodes of the series.
Since Charlie's arrival on Fear the Walking Dead Season 4, she's been one of the most polarizing figures in franchise history.
That's what you get when you kill someone as pure as Nick Clark and live to tell the tale.
There was an element of ambiguity surrounding Charlie's fate since the end of Fear the Walking Dead Season 7 because, with such a severe case of radiation, she stood to die soon after the events at Strand's tower.
Many believed she was dead, including Daniel, who stepped in to become a father figure to her in her time of need.

In putting together this year’s Melbourne International Film Festival (Miff), director Al Cossar was “hoping for the best and planning for utter chaos”.
Miff’s 69th edition had always been devised as a hybrid model, but originally films were to run in cinemas for the first half of the festival and online for the second.
With Melbourne just emerging from its fifth lockdown, the festival announced today it will now bring forward the online program to run for the full duration of the festival, August 5-22, while in-cinema screenings will now commence later, on August 12.
There is the hope by that date, the capacity restrictions that Victorian cinemas are facing (currently capped at 100 per theatre) may have loosened. All ticket holders who have already purchased tickets to events will be contacted directly.
While the festival has had to make these changes, Cossar tells If the 2021 event was always designed...

When The Legend of Korra first debuted on Nickelodeon in 2012 it was hotly anticipated. A sequel to the popular Avatar: The Last Airbender, fans had waited four years for the show and with that came expectations. How would Korra tie into Atla? Would any of the old characters show up? Could it live up to the high level of storytelling Atla maintained? Would they reveal what happened to Zuko’s mom?!
While the show instantly won over a large group of fans there were still some detractors who blasted the show for “controversial” choices in relation to those questions and more. Adult Aang, seen in flashbacks, was much more serious than his goofy younger self. Certain characters weren’t as instantly beloved as the previous cast. Korra getting her bending back at the end of season one was seen as a huge waste of story potential. They made fun of...

With regard to the sheer amount of films he made in 1993, it is safe to say Jet Li was quite the success, especially after the first two parts of the “Once Upon A Time in China”-trilogy had been released in the years before. However, his career was just beginning to take off which is also due to his role on Corey Yuen’s 1993 box-office hit “The Legend of Fong Sai-yuk”, also known simply as “The Legend” in many countries, a feature which not only received positive reviews at the time of its release, but was also honored with a Hong Kong Film Award and a Golden Horse Award for its action choreography. Combining the elements of the period piece to action and martial arts, it delivered a very popular blend of these genres and also gave Li a chance to show his qualities as a leading man, playing the titular role of Fong Sai-yuk,...

Ahead of its release on Disney+ on September 4, Disney has begun to confirm the international pricing for Mulan, which is being offered at a premium extra for subscribers to the SVOD.
In the U.S. the movie is costing $29.99, a price that has sparked a debate about the true value of PVOD: some argue that it’s a huge amount to spend for an at-home rental, while others see it as as premium price for a premium product that is put in perspective by the cost of taking a family to most cinemas.
Good news for international Disney fans, as it appears the majority of you will be paying a little less than your American counterparts.
In the UK, Disney tweeted today to confirm the film will cost £19.99, the equivalent of roughly $26 Usd.

The Son, season 2, episode 10, "The Legend," concludes the series' run with the birth of a border town mythology and the lessons learned from the sins of a father. The great state, and former republic, of Texas is a land of tall tales. Last week's episode, "The Bear," included a version of the ultimate fate which befell Eli McCullough, leading the audience to a false conclusion. Oh, we doubted the accuracy, how could anyone know what was going through Eli's mind in his last hours facing off against the biggest bear in a state where bears are scarce. But we ultimately buy it. It's Texas, and it is a large enough story to give us a sense of comforting closure.

The deal also will incorporate Indian financing., they said.
Lin was an executive producer of the Tom Cruise crime thriller American Made and, through his relationship with Brian Oliver’s New Republic Pictures, has an overall deal with Paramount. His relationship with Liu dates to the 1990s, when Liu was working with Lin and his father, Jimmy Lin, who produced Jet Li’s breakthrough The Legend films, introduced Laser Disc technology to the Pan-Asian market in the ’80s, and set up an output deal with New Line Cinema for distribution in Taiwan.

Here is the first trailer for Mary Queen of Scots, starring Saoirse Ronan as the young monarch and Margot Robbie as her rival Queen Elizabeth I.
The logline: The charismatic Mary Stuart (Ronan) had a turbulent life. Queen of France at 16 and widowed at 18, Mary defies pressure to remarry. Instead, she returns to her native Scotland to reclaim her rightful throne. But Scotland and England fall under the rule of the compelling Elizabeth I (Robbie). Each young queen beholds her “sister” in fear and fascination. Rivals in power and in love, and female regents in a masculine world, the two must decide how to play the game of marriage versus independence. Determined to rule as much more than a figurehead, Mary asserts her claim to the English throne, threatening Elizabeth’s sovereignty. Betrayal, rebellion and conspiracies within each court imperil both thrones – and change the course of history.

Contemporary Chinese Cinema is a column devoted to exploring contemporary Chinese-language cinema primarily as it is revealed to us at North American multiplexes.Over the last few years it has become increasingly easy to see mainstream Asian films in North America at the same time they are released in their home countries. Thanks to partnerships with small, international distributors, the major multiplex chains (AMC, Cinemark, Regal) have devoted a handful of screens in major markets to showing new releases from India, Korea, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Most of these titles fall under the radar of both critics and audiences outside the diasporic communities to which they are targeted. They play for a week or two and then disappear, outside of a handful of breakout titles. Last year Stephen Chow’s The Mermaid made headlines for its high per-screen averages in North America as it shattered domestic box office records in China.

As a long time Jet Li fan, and a huge fan of his Fong Sai-yuk series of films, I jumped at the chance to review this release from Cine Asia. First, let’s get the specs out of the way. The 126 minute, 1993 film is presented in 16:9 widescreen, with both a 2.0 Cantonese and 5.1 English soundtrack, and optional English subtitles. Special features consist of an audio commentary from Hong Kong cinema expert Bay Logan, and interviews with director and fight choreographer Corey Yuen, and writer Jeff Lau.
The video quality is not brilliant, but about what you’d expect due to the nature of the movie, its age and original country of origin. The version presented is the Dimension re-scored and re-edited version,...

Star Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass return to the Bourne franchise after a nine year, one film hiatus as Jason Bourne is looking at a #1 finish as it debuts in over 4,000 theaters this weekend. The weekend also features the R-rated comedy Bad Moms and Nerve, a PG-13, teen-targeted thriller that opened on Wednesday with $3.75 million and hopes to find an audience over the weekend as a piece of counter-counter-programming. Looking at a comfortable first place finish is Universal's Jason Bourne, the fifth film in the Bourne franchise and fourth starring Damon in the title role following the lackluster response to 2012's The Bourne Legacy starring Jeremy Renner. That said, this should be looked at more as a sequel to The Bourne Ultimatum, which opened with $69.2 million in August 2007. Of course, this year has not been kind to the majority of sequels. Following last weekend's opening for Star Trek Beyond and Ice Age: Collision Course,...

Sammo Hung has been involved in Martial Arts since childhood and even at the ripe old age of 64, he doesn’t seem to be slowing down (Thank god). It was great to see Sammo back in big movies over the past few years, which includes Rise Of The Legend and Once Upon A Time In Shanghai, both made in 2014.
Here are three upcoming Sammo Hung movies to look forward too this year and fingers crossed he works one more time with Peking opera brothers Jackie Chan and Yuen Biao, before they retire.
*Jackie Chan was set to play the lead role in My Beloved Bodyguard, but due to filming Dragon Blade he couldn’t make the movie. Andy Lau stepped in the role later on.

Sammo Hung is regarded as one of the greatest Kung Fu performers of his generation. His high tempo, hard htting fight sequences have captured audiences all over the world. Future generations will look back and watch in amazement, witnessing one of the very best in world cinema.
Peking Opera Days
The Peking Opera school was run from a small theatre by Master Yu Jim Yuen, this was where Sammo Hung would begin his journey. In them days, the stundents would normally enroll for around 10 years, each day performing gruelling tasks for up to 18 hours a day which included training in the Martial Arts, weapons training, acrobatics, acting and singing. The Peking opera of course brought together Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao, Yuen Wah, Corey Yuen, Yuen Tak and Yuen Mo, who would eventually be known as the 7 Little Fortunes. Since any New York cinephile has a nearly suffocating wealth of theatrical options, we figured it’d be best to compile some of the more worthwhile repertory showings into one handy list. Displayed below are a few of the city’s most reliable theaters and links to screenings of their weekend offerings — films you’re not likely to see in a theater again anytime soon, and many of which are, also, on 35mm. If you have a chance to attend any of these, we’re of the mind that it’s time extremely well-spent.

When it comes to making features like this one, i love the idea of coming up with my own personal “100 Great Kung Fu Movies” of all time. It is tough choosing just 100 because you know there are many more great Kung Fu movies that are not on the list.
I have decided that to make the list, a movie must have a few hand to hand fight scenes in the movies chosen. If for example its mainly sword play with one fight scene hand to hand it won’t make the list. Its old school “style” Kung Fu movies, not modern day settings.
I understand everyone will have their own personal favorites and some may not agree with my list and that’s fine because it’s nice to have different opinions on this genre which keeps it fresh and alive when having good debates.
Anyway, thank you for taking...

I just had the opportunity to check out Rise of the Legend, the latest in the pantheon of Wong Fei Hung movies that fans (like me) have enjoyed over the years. From Kwan Tak Hing, to Liu Chia Hui, to Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Zhao Wen Zho, Chin Kar Lok; Fei Hung was even played by a girl in one of my favorite films, Iron Monkey (‘93.) Angie Tsang played a young Wong Fei Hung in one of my favorite (actually) depictions of the character in that film. My personal favorite Wong Fei Hung was Jet Li, but this new kid might just have the goods, so to speak, Eddie Peng brings a youth and grittiness to the character that I honestly haven’t seen before. You may know Eddie Peng as perhaps the most interesting part of the Kung Fu Hero/Zero series, playing the villain Fang Zi Jing. I have to say,...

One of the most popular kung fu icons of all time is returning to the big screen, with director Roy Chow (pictured above) resurrecting the legend of Wong Fei-hung for his upcoming Rise Of The Legend. Previously played by the likes of Jet Li and Jackie Chan, Wong's historical roots are as an actual martial arts instructor - Lau Kar Leung's family trained in his school - but over the years Wong has been elevated to the status of a true folk hero and is often portrayed as standing strong against foreign influences in China.Given the history of major stars playing the character there is obviously a great deal of interest in who is taking on the role this time but - despite the film...

When asked about the in-development sequel I Am Legend 2, which he was reported to be a producer on, Will Smith recently clarified:
“Producers are working on it. I’m not actually working on it. If it’s great, I’m into it.”
So they’d better come up with a take that’s legend…wait for it…dary.
Come to think of it: Barney Stinson fighting vampires in a post-apocalyptic future? Sold. They should cast Neil Patrick Harris immediately. And Will Smith can be in it too.
And I Am Legend...Wait For It...Dary could include a song which goes "The nightmare's real / Doctor Le-gend-wait for it-dary is here / To make vampires quake in fear / So hail to the awesome..." You know, for the Doctor Horrible's Sing-a-Long Blog fans who are still waiting on tenterhooks for Doctor Horrible 2. That is, basically all of them. What's a tenterhook?
