Traditionally a strong performer in the fall and holiday TV season, Food Network is sizzling this summer, too.
From Memorial Day on May 27 through July 20, Food Network content has drawn more than 50.6 million total viewers across the linear TV channel, as well as Warner Bros. Discovery-owned streamers Max and Discovery+.
The boost in viewership coincides with the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in Hollywood, work stoppages that affect scripted programming, which is not Food Network’s bread and butter.
Looking at linear alone, Food Network is among the Top 5 non-news/sports cable networks across total day ratings for adults aged 25-54 and women ages 25-54, behind Nick at Nite, TNT, USA Network and TBS.
Per Nielsen’s Live + 3 Day data, Food Network is currently averaging 113,000 viewers in the 25-54 demo. Additionally, Food Network has seen average weekly time spent viewing during primetime rise 4% year over year among the...

There’s plenty of content to watch across every major streaming platform already, something everyone has certainly appreciated during the ongoing pandemic. But who would dare complain about even more movies and shows to check out? Lucky you – Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime and Disney Plus are all getting new stuff to watch this weekend, and some of it is absolutely worth your time.
Over on Netflix, you’ll definitely want to check out District 9, a film that delicately handles being both a compelling sci-fi action flick and a political statement that tackles xenophobia and racism. If you’re needing something a bit more light-hearted though, there’s always the David Spade comedy, The Wrong Missy, which is sitting at a pretty rough 31% on Rotten Tomatoes but is nevertheless doing exceptionally well with audiences.

Tyler Florence is one of the most recognizable faces on the Food Network. He’s the host of the show “The Great Food Truck Race,” and he’s been on more than his fair share of other shows, too. He’s a chef, a host, a cool person to watch, and so much more. But, most people simply see him on television and think that his entire life is cooking and food, but we’d like to say that we are almost positive he’s got more going on that just that. Not that just that is a bad thing, but we know he’s deeper

A&E has greenlit a provocative new reality series in which a man tries to convince prostitutes to quit their jobs. EW has learned exclusively that the network has ordered eight episodes of 8 Minutes (working title), a series featuring cop-turned-pastor Kevin Brown surprising escorts in hotel rooms and offering to rescue them from a life of trading sex for cash. In each episode, Brown has eight minutes to make his case. Few of us would argue that there’s anything quite as satisfying as a great home-cooked meal. Food Network hopes that watching talented home cooks hone their skills at the hands of famous mentors will come close. This month, the network introduces America’s Best Cook, a six-episode competition that features past and current Iron Chefs Alex Guarnaschelli (Team East), Michael Symon (Team North) and Cat Cora (Team South), plus The Great Food Truck Race’s Tyler Florence (Team West), coaching teams of amateur kitchen whizzes chosen from across America to see who can serve up the country’s best home cook. • Related: … Continue reading →

In an economy where it's tough to launch a small business, reality TV is there to help. In its early seasons, Food Network's "The Great Food Truck Race" went to existing operations for its contestants, making it a competition among those who already had a level of success.
Last season, the show changed the ingredients, and the new recipe worked out so well that the producers decided to turn to it again in the new season, premiering Sunday, Aug. 18, on Food Network.
Chef Tyler Florence returns as host, as eight teams of cooks are sent on a 4,181-mile road trip from Hollywood to Washington, D.C., to serve customers and for the winning team to prove it has what it takes to win the food truck -- already constructed with a concept and menu developed by Florence, the producers and the contestants -- and a $50,000 nest egg to start a business.

The rise of the food truck in the U.S. may not have completely redefined fast food here yet, but it's getting a toehold, that's for sure. "The Great Food Truck Race" and its host, chef Tyler Florence, are helping the push, and starting Sunday, Aug. 19, the series careens into Season 3 with an entirely new twist to ratchet up the excitement.
"Seasons 1 and 2, we went with some of the best food truck operators in the country that already had established fan bases, that already had the few years doing what they were doing really well, and they were professionals," Florence tells Zap2it. But for this season, a different approach was sought, and feedback from viewers at foodnetwork.com helped find it.
"People were very interested in knowing what it takes to start a food truck," Florence explains. "So we had this great idea this season to really reverse the process.

Popular New York City food truck Korilla was booted off Food Network's "The Great Food Truck Race" after being accused of cooking their books to get ahead in the competition.
The episode was set in Memphis and did not allow the food truck operators to use meat in their creations. Tonight there is the premiere of a new sketch comedy show, a genre I didn't realize was something people still did on the basis that those kind of shows keep failing except for "Saturday Night Live" which seems to be kept around just so people can talk about how awesome it used to be and how much it sucks now, a tradition that I'm pretty sure dates back to the second season of the show. This new show, "In the Flow with Affion Crockett" loses points immediately because that's a dumb name and things only go downhill from there as you find out that the titular Crockett got his start on "Nick Cannon Presents: Wild 'N Out." I'm slightly bewildered as to how a bit player on an MTV series now has his own show on Fox but I guess that's why I'm not a TV executive. Here's your Sunday night TV:

Perhaps it was just our impression, but this week’s installment of “Food Network Star” felt a lot more like an episode of “Iron Chef America.” Call it Battle of the Red Onion.
In the show’s most explosive moment, contestants Penny Davidi (aka the feisty “Middle Eastern Mama”) and Mary Beth Albright (the milder mannered food writer and wannabe celeb chef), went at each other over a bunch of chopped red onions.
