Netflix's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood sequel adds to cast
Image
A sequel to any Quentin Tarantino film, unless pre-planned like the Kill Bill movies, seems farcical and not realistic. But that might not be the case. Netflix's rumored Once Upon a Time in Hollywood sequel appears to have real teeth.

This is based on the announcement that the project has added two actors to the cast. They are Elizabeth Debicki of The Crown and The Night Manager fame, and Scott Caan, well-known for his roles in Hawaii Five-o and the Ocean's trilogy. The announcement was confirmed by Variety.

While Tarantino is not expected to direct, he is writing the script. But don't be alarmed. The director is still going to be high-quality because David Fincher is attached to do so.

Star Trek Almost Made Tasha Yar Asian, the Actress Had to Settle for Another Tng Role
Image
Star Trek: Tng had an ensemble cast, and more or less all of them got equal focus throughout the seven seasons. With a large main cast, some actors will definitely lose out on storylines. Actress Denise Crosby, who played Tasha Yar, reportedly did not want to just stand as a background actor and left the show in season one.

However, one must wonder if a different actor might have stuck on to the part, and the show itself might have been completely different. According to a casting memo, Crosby was not even in the top five list for the character, and one of the actresses who did make the list, Rosalind Chao, ultimately played Keiko O’Brien.

Real Reason Why Trish Stratus Never Posed N*de for Playboy Despite ‘Raunchy’ WWE Diva Status
Image
The women’s division in WWE is currently experiencing an unprecedented era of excellence, filled with supremely talented and athletically gifted performers. WWE has set a global standard for women’s wrestling, showcasing it as a serious and respected aspect of the sport. Several trailblazing figures laid the foundation for this evolution, none more iconic than Trish Stratus.

However, the landscape during the early 2000s was vastly different. At the time, WWE’s women’s division, then branded as the Divas, was often criticized for prioritizing the sexualization of its performers over their in-ring capabilities. Many female talents were presented more as entertainers than athletes, with less focus on wrestling skill and storytelling.

“I don’t remember any serious plans”: Mike Schur Went Too Far With Dwight Kissing ‘The Office’ Character That Was Never Brought Up Again
Image
As exceptionally good as the NBC version of The Office turned out to be, with all its hilarious elements brought about and incorporated into the storyline under Mike Schur’s direction, it also had some super crazy plotlines that felt a bit too insane to exist. There was one moment involving Dwight, in particular, with which Schur seemed to have gone a bit too far.

This respective moment was the one involving the infamous Christmas party in season 2, where Dwight Schrute locks lips with Kelly Kapoor in one of the most shocking turns of events, which felt like something Schur went too far with. But, in his defense, he only developed this plotline to make Michael’s party something of a “Playboy mansion party.”

A Gunsmoke Actor Starred In Steven Spielberg's Often Overlooked First Movie
Image
It's a well-known fact that, in life, things are not always what they seem, and sometimes that which seems unassuming can contain a surprisingly deep well of power and resilience. There isn't a better way to sum up director Steven Spielberg's early works, especially the TV movie "Duel," its plot, and its star, Dennis Weaver. In 1971, when "Duel" was released, Weaver was still best known for his recurring role on the long-running Western series "Gunsmoke." Meanwhile, Spielberg was only barely known, having gained a bit of a reputation as the protege of then-Universal president Sidney "Sid" Sheinberg, after the precocious young Spielberg had directed a short film that impressed Sheinberg, 1968's "Amblin'" (a film which Spielberg would later homage by naming his production company after it). On the strength of that short, Spielberg was given the opportunity to become part of McA/Universal's burgeoning television division, directing episodes...

Why Jayne Mansfield Didn't Play Ginger Grant On Gilligan's Island
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Fans of "Gilligan's Island" are likely intimately familiar with the show's original pilot, which was shot in 1963, but not aired to the public until 1992. The pilot, called "Marooned," featured Bob Denver, Alan Hale, Jim Backus, and Natalie Schafer, but also starred three rudimentary characters that didn't carry over into the completed series. The Professor was originally a high school teacher played by John Gabriel. The Mary Ann character was a secretary named Bunny (Nancy McCarthy), and Ginger was still named Ginger but was ... another secretary. She was played by Kit Smythe.

Eventually, the show was reworked, and creator Sherwood Schwartz wrote a tighter, better pilot with the Professor (Russell Johnson), Mary Ann (Dawn Wells), and Ginger (Tina Louise) that we all know and love today.

In Schwartz's biography "Inside Gilligan's Island: From Creation to Syndication," he mentioned that Louise...

Leonardo DiCaprio Baywatch Story (Photo Credit – Facebook)

Did you know Leonardo DiCaprio nearly joined Baywatch? Yep, Hasselhoff’s decision kept him out of the iconic red swimsuit.

While talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Baywatch producers Michael Berk and Douglas Schwartz spilled the tea about what could have been. DiCaprio, then just a 15 y/o rising star, was ready to dive in as the son of Hasselhoff’s Mitch Buchannon. “We actually had DiCaprio ready to be cast,” Berk shared, setting the scene for a beachside drama that almost had Leo in its lifeguard lineup.

But, plot twist! Hasselhoff wasn’t sold on the idea. “David thought he was too old to play his son,” Schwartz explained, adding that Hasselhoff feared the casting would make him look older. Yeah, the Hoff wasn’t ready to be out-shined by a younger Leo. So, they gave the role to Jeremy Jackson, who was six years Leo’s junior.

Image
Is Trouble Brewing Between Kanye West & Bianca Censori? (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Kanye West’s marriage to Bianca Censori might be on the rocks as the rapper stirs controversy by posting an explicit 2008 video of Pamela Anderson on his Instagram.

The 47-year-old shared the shocking clip, originally aired on The Girls Next Door during Hugh Hefner’s birthday, which showed a then-41-year-old Anderson delivering a cake to the Playboy mogul while completely naked except for high heels.

As Pamela Anderson performed a lap dance for Hefner, the businessman commented on her appearance, “You’re looking good.”

Two Decades Later, ‘Simpsons’ Fans Are Still Horny for ‘Large Marge’
Image
In 2002, The Simpsons did something drastic to adult animation’s most moralistic mother that would shock the world — just look at those magumbos.

For the most part, Season 14 of The Simpsons represented a return to the show’s roots in a post-Jerkass Homer era when Al Jean, in his second season succeeding the controversial Mike Scully as Simpsons showrunner, brought the series back to a state of consistency and quality that it hadn’t seen since the end of the Simpsons Golden Age. However, there were some rocky moments in Season 14 that reminded viewers how much the show had changed since its peak, most of which strangely involved extreme changes to Marge Simpson’s body — like in “The Strong Arms of the Ma,” when Marge, in a bodybuilder’s steroid-induced fury, physically pins and sexually assaults Homer.

But for all the criticism that Marge’s out-of-character, out-of-her-usual-body moments garnered in their time,...

The Supreme Court Asked Some Weird Questions About Internet Porn
Image
It’s not every day that the highest court in the land talks about the constitutional laws around pornography, but such cases have regularly made for landmark rulings. And should today’s Supreme Court arguments about an age-verification law for websites like Pornhub go down in history, future legal scholars will be treated to some bizarre lines of questioning from the justices.

Scotus heard about two hours of oral argument today pertaining to Free Speech Coalition v. Paxton, in which a trade association of the adult industry has challenged a...

Pamela Anderson Getting Her First Oscar Nomination Now Looks Certain, 34 Years After Her First Movie Role
Image
Pamela Anderson keeps enjoying the success of her performance in The Last Showgirl with a nomination for the SAG Awards, which makes her chances for her first Oscar nomination even bigger. Awards season has begun, and this year, to everyone’s surprise, there are no clear favorites, but in a good way. 2024 and the first weeks of 2025 are seeing some great movies from different genres, which have won the praise of critics and general audiences for their stories, performances, and more. Among them is Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl, starring Pamela Anderson.

Written by Kate Gersten and directed by Coppola, The Last Showgirl follows Shelly Gardner (Anderson), a successful showgirl in Las Vegas. After a successful 30-year run, Shelly and her fellow showgirls face the abrupt end of their show, forcing Shelly to plan her future after decades in the business. What follows is a journey of self-discovery for...

Aaron Sorkin Praises Pamela Anderson’s ‘Last Showgirl’ Performance Amid Oscar Buzz: ‘One Scene After Another, She Keeps Astonishing Us’
Image
We were distracted. For most of her life, Pamela Anderson was being upstaged by “Pamela Anderson.” Then Gia Coppola sent her a screenplay by Kate Gersten, and now Ms. Anderson, having given one of the finest performances of this or any year, has won awards from film festivals around the world and is in the middle of Academy Award conversations.

In “The Last Showgirl,” a remarkable film, Anderson plays Shelly, a dancer in the final few days of a dying Vegas revue. Much has been made of her apparent choice not to wear make-up, but as brave as it may have been, that’s hardly the most impressive thing about her work (and it turns out that Pamela Anderson without make-up is exactly as attractive as Pamela Anderson on the cover of Playboy. Tough luck.) She starts out by handling a chaotic and verbose dressing room scene with breathtaking skill and confidence and then,...

‘The Last Showgirl’ Would Like to Reintroduce You to Pamela Anderson
Image
It’s weird to say that Pamela Anderson — All-Canadian girl next door, Baywatch Mvp, animal-rights activist, author, and the No. 1 spokesperson for going makeup–free — is experiencing what folks have dubbed a comeback. Since she first showed up in the pages of Playboy and graced the sitcom Home Improvement, Anderson has gone through so many celebrity-culture cycles, seen so many career ups and downs, been labeled and pigeonholed and underestimated so many times. Yet she hasn’t needed to “come back” from anywhere. Anderson has merely skipped in and out of the spotlight’s glare,...

If DC Needs New Movie Material, Batman: The Cult Is Ready For the Spotlight
Image
Almost all the Batman movies loosely adapt one comic book story or another, and The Cult would make for great source material. Christopher Nolan's iconic The Dark Knight, after all, is a vague adaption of The Long Halloween. DC currently has a whole slate of new superhero movies coming out, and if DC needs any new ideas on what Batman story to adapt next, Batman: The Cult would make an amazing big-screen adventure.

Batman: The Cult by Jim Starlin and Bernie Wrightson is a surprisingly dark story that almost no one ever talks about. It challenged Batman in new ways and was one of the very first times that a villain seemed to truly break Batman.

This defeat was especially surprising as the new villain hadn't been seen before. An original character just for this story, Deacon Blackfire defeats Batman in a way no one else had. Batman was...

John Travolta's 'Grease' and 'Pulp Fiction' Top the Charts on Pluto
Image
Two of John Travolta's most famous movies have topped the charts on Pluto. Grease (1978) and Pulp Fiction (1994) are currently streaming for free and sit at #6 and #7, respectively. Both movies were popular and influential when they debuted, and have stood the test of time, as new generations have discovered both. And the two movies couldn't be more different, with one being a musical and the other a crime thriller with a non-linear structure.

Travolta was coming off his hit film, Saturday Night Fever in 1977 when Grease opened a year later and became a beloved hit, earning nearly $160 million at the domestic box office on a $6 million budget (not counting releases). The instant classic about a greaser named Danny (Travolta) falling in love with Sandy (Olivia Newton John), a well-to-do girl, cemented his major movie star status, and is considered one of the greatest musicals ever.

By the time Pulp Fiction...

The Visual Evidence That Proves Cartman’s Mom Was Once a Playboy Centerfold
Image
Cartman’s Mom: Notable cookie baker, “dirty slut” and Playboy centerfold?

Though Liane Cartman may be best known for her modeling work in South Park’s (probably Pulitzer-winning) Crack Whore magazine, the former real estate agent once found herself gracing the pages of a much classier publication, landing her own centerfold in an early aughts issue of Playboy.

Ahead of South Park’s mid-season premiere in November 2000, the animated series decided to pull out all the stops to nab new viewers, taking a bizarre approach to the old adage of “sex sells,” and purchasing a four-page ad in Playboy’s December 2000 issue.

Dedicating one page to promoting Season Four’s controversial “Fourth Grade” episode, South Park’s overlords decided to take a raunchier approach to the other three, creating their own topless centerfold for the men’s magazine depicting Liane posing with milk and cookies while wearing nothing but what appears to be a jockstrap.

When Jared Leto’s Method Acting In Suicide Squad Terrified His Co-Stars: “Is He Crazy?”

Did Jared Leto’s Method Acting As Joker Leave Suicide Squad Costars Shocked? (Photo Credit – Instagram)

When Jared Leto’s Joker first hit screens in Suicide Squad, fans had much to say about his “damaged” forehead tattoo. But, as it turns out, that wasn’t even the craziest thing about his take on the iconic villain. According to Slash Film, Leto’s co-stars were shaken by his full-on method acting. The actor took it to another level, sending real gifts to his fellow actors, making everyone question how far he’d gone.

In 2016, Leto explained his approach to E! News: “I did a lot of things to create a dynamic, to create an element of surprise, a spontaneity, and to really break down any kind of walls that may be there.” To get into character, he sent his co-stars some seriously offbeat “gifts.” We’re talking used condoms, Playboy...

Pamela Anderson’s Son Brandon Thomas Lee Made It His ‘Personal Mission’ to Shatter Hollywood’s View of His Mom
Image
Pamela Anderson’s eldest son Brandon Thomas Lee is getting emotional.

It’s taken years, but he might have helped shatter a Hollywood stereotype that has been a cloud over Anderson’s career for years.

The actor-turned-producer is sitting on Zoom discussing her recent success in Roadside Attractions “The Last Showgirl,” which Gia Coppola directed. In the film, Anderson plays Shelly, a veteran dancer who finds herself at a crossroads when the Vegas revue she performs in abruptly closes after 30 years, just as her estranged biological daughter Hannah (Billie Lourd) re-enters her life. Aside from winning rave reviews from critics, Anderson landed herself a Golden Globe nomination for best actress in a drama/motion picture. Lee, an executive producer on the film, says the nomination “means a lot,” but also hopes this marks a new chapter for Anderson’s career. He says, “It means the culmination of a very long...

Faye Resnick's Controversial Ties To O.J. Simpson
Image
In Season 1 of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, fans were blessed with Camille Grammer's iconic line, "And then I realized, 'Oh my god that's who it is, it's Faye Resnick. The morally corrupt, Faye Resnick.'" It was in Episode 9, titled "The Dinner Party from Hell" (2010).

The ladies had gathered at Camille's home and got into a bizarre spat with psychic, Allison DuBois, who famously predicted Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky's split. Tensions started after the host said Faye "posed naked in Playboy after the O.J. [Simpson] trial."

Camille was quick to note that her feature in the magazine was "clothed." Already feuding with Kyle—who had brought her "sister"-like friend, Faye, as a guest—the actress-turned-reality TV star sparked a full-blown feud at the table.

At that time, the show didn't dig deep into Faye's controversial ties with O.J. and his murdered ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson.

Dexter: Original Sin Series Premiere Review: A Stellar Cast Brings Dexter’s Dark Origins to Life
Image
Dexter: Original Sin has officially entered the scene, and it’s already giving NCIS: Origins a run for its money.

While NCIS: Origins explores the backstory of our beloved Leroy Jethro Gibbs, Dexter: Original Sin takes us back to the twisted beginnings of one of TV’s most iconic anti-heroes — Dexter Morgan.

On Dexter: Original Sin Season 1, Episode 1, we’re transported to 1991, where we witness the early formation of Dexter’s homicidal urges. And let me tell you — it does not disappoint.

(Photo Credit: Patrick Wymore/Paramount+ with Showtime)

Michael C. Hall is back, bringing his signature Dexter charm to the narration, reminding us why we fell in love with this character (and the Og series) in the first place.

And Patrick Gibson? He nails young Dexter — capturing everything from the eerie calm to the awkwardness that made the original Dexter such a compelling character.

It’s...

Pamela Anderson Reveals She Never Actually Wed Producer Jon Peters After $20M Marriage Offer
Image
Pamela Anderson is setting the record straight on her marriage record. Specifically, the newly minted Golden Globe-nominated star of Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl would like the world to know that she never actually tied the knot with veteran Hollywood producer Jon Peters.

During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter’s Scott Feinberg on his Awards Chatter podcast, the executive editor of awards asked Anderson to reveal “the biggest misconception about you?” The 57-year-old actress wasted no time in coming up with an answer. “That I’ve been married six times instead of four,” she explained. “I never was married to Jon Peters. Do you want to know the Jon Peters story?”

Of course Feinberg welcomed the anecdote, and Anderson dove right in.

“I had just come home from France and my son called me. He goes, ‘You’re not going to believe it. Jon Peters called me. He...

Pamela Anderson Reflects on Collaborating With Gia Coppola for ‘The Last Showgirl:’ ‘This Might Be My Only Chance’
Image
Pamela Anderson and director Gia Coppola jointly received the Sun Valley Film Festival Pioneer Award on Dec. 6, the second day of the festival’s 2024 Winter Screening Series.

Appearing after a screening of their film “The Last Showgirl,” the duo accepted their belt buckle-shaped trophies from Svff executive director Teddy Grennan and director Candice Pate before sitting down for a conversation with Variety Senior Editor Todd Gilchrist.

Presented in partnership with Variety, Sun Valley’s Pioneer Award “recognizes trailblazers in front of and behind the camera.” The pair were eminently qualified for their collaboration on the film, which follows a veteran showgirl named Shelly (played by Anderson) contemplating the future of her career after the revue in which she appears abruptly announces plans to close.

Prior to making the film, Anderson had not only just released a memoir, a cookbook and a documentary about her life, but concluded an acclaimed run...

This Cameron Diaz Sci-Fi Flop Is A Feature-Length Twilight Zone Episode
Image
When filmmaker Richard Kelly made his feature directorial debut "Donnie Darko" in 2001, it caused a stir in the arthouse world. "Donnie Darko" quickly accumulated a passionate cult who fell in love with its unbalanced hero (Jake Gyllenhaal) and its twisted time-travel plot. It was a combination psychological horror film and bizarro indie coming-of-age-in-the-1980s tale. Unsurprisingly, it only took a few additional years for "Donnie Darko" to become a regular staple on the midnight movie circuit, with fans dressing up as the film's enigmatic Frank the Bunny on Halloween.

The cult success of "Donnie Darko," however, seemingly went to Kelly's head as he appeared to become very, very convinced of his own importance as a new artistic voice in the indie film world. It took five years, but he eventually returned to theaters with the utterly gonzo "Southland Tales," an epic and ambitious film about the horrors of the George W. Bush administration.
