We’ve seen other big-screen franchises make the leap to TV over the years, but could Fast & Furious be next?
While speaking with Variety, NBCUniversal Studio group chairman and chief content officer Donna Langley teased the future of the Fast & Furious franchise, saying there’s “still gas in the tank” even after the Fast X sequel hits theaters in 2026. Where the franchise goes from there is unclear, but Langley said, “We may pivot another time and bring it back to the streets of L.A. and maybe make it a more intimate story.” After mentioning previous NBCUniversal shows based on movies, such as Pitch Perfect and Ted, Langley said, “Fast and Furious is a good one” for a potential future TV series.

Roger Corman was a legend of filmmaking, and his contributions to the medium are unparalleled. He was known for low budgets and short shoots that made him an easy-to-work-with director, and for making B-movies that hit big with audiences. Most importantly, Corman mentored many of our greatest filmmakers, spreading his influence far and wide as those mentees broke big and started influencing others themselves. Take Martin Scorsese, one of the best living directors, who continues to be greatly influenced by Corman's work. But Corman's influence is also felt in more lowbrow cinema, like the work of Joe Dante and James Cameron.
Indeed, Corman's influence is still very much felt today, like in the way "The Fast and Furious" got its name. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, producer Neal Moritz explained that the 2001 franchise starter was initially going to be titled "Race Wars," or maybe "Racer X," or "Street Wars." Then, everything...

We have some sad news to share today because it's been confirmed that legendary B-movie filmmaker Roger Corman has passed away at 98.
He produced and directed hundreds of low-budget movies and was responsible for discovering the likes of Jack Nicholson (Little Shop of Horrors), Martin Scorsese (Boxcar Bertha), Francis Ford Coppola (Dementia 13), and Robert De Niro (Boxcar Bertha).
Beloved in Hollywood, Corman was praised for hiring women in key executive and creative roles at a time when that sadly wasn't the norm.
Also of note is the fact that, after producing a movie called The Fast and the Furious in 1955, he made a deal with fellow producer Neal Moritz to exchange the name rights for stock footage, meaning Corman played a small, yet unlikely role, in launching the hit racing/action series in 2001.
Known as "The Pope of Pop Cinema", "The Spiritual Godfather of the New Hollywood", and "The King of Cult,...

Roger Corman, the maverick producer of B-movies and iconoclastic subjects whose innovative low-budget enterprises launched the careers of numerous major filmmakers, died on Thursday at his home in Santa Monica. He was 98.
Corman’s career encompassed seven decades and more than 500 producing credits, including early work that launched the careers of major Hollywood figures such as Jack Nicholson, Bruce Dern, Peter Fonda, Frances Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, James Cameron, Peter Bogdanovich, Gale Anne Hurd, John Sayles, Ron Howard and Jonathan Demme. Yet Corman resented the commercial studio system, and as both producer and as a director himself, he pursued his cheap, no-frills filmmaking style at all costs, while using lowbrow genre tropes as a Trojan horse for socially conscious themes.
Over the years, Corman’s name has been most closely associated with the zany escapist enterprises often referred to as exploitation films, a term he abhorred. With producing credits such...

Norma Mitchell, the ex-wife of actor Tyrese Gibson, intensified her efforts to put an end to his online harassment by filing for a restraining order.
According to documents, Mitchell has urged the court to intervene and prevent Gibson from publicly addressing their disputes on social media platforms.
Mitchell alleges that The Fast & The Furious star’s defamatory remarks have had a profound emotional impact on her and seeks not only to halt the harassment but also to ensure that Gibson stays away from their daughter, Shayla, 16. In her filing, Mitchell highlights the repetitive nature of Gibson’s criticism on social media. Specifically, he cites five dates—April 30, May 1, May 2, May 6 and May 7—in which he allegedly made false and sensitive information available to their daughter, friends, family and the public.

Vin Diesel’s most famous creation, the Fast & Furious franchise has been around since 2001. For over two decades, it has been steadily evolving (or devolving?) from street racing action movies to movies with international espionage, cars going to space, and people being revived every other second — and lost some of its original fans thanks to that. The F&f movies have long lost their original ground.
But according to star Tyrese Gibson, that finally changes with Fast 11!
Fast & Furious Goes Back to Its Roots
Believe it or not, despite the F&f movies having been only getting progressively bigger in terms of scale and events, Fast 11 isn’t about to continue with this trend. The finale of Vin Diesel’s iconic franchise will be more grounded than the previous installments, more down-to-earth — at least, that’s what Tyrese is saying.

Over 20 years ago, 2001’s The Fast and the Furious started one of the biggest and most ambitious action movie franchises of this century. Two and a half decades later, Vin Diesel is ready to roll out the grand finale of his proudest film series, concluding it with Fast 11 — or, rather, he would have been ready to do it if not for the jeopardy and setback the final movie has admittedly encountered.
Fast 11 Got Seriously Stalled, Tyrese Says
Despite the huge sensations like Barbie and Oppenheimer hitting the theaters in summer 2023, the previous year was rather for the movie industry, to say the least. Following closely after the Covid restrictions and budget cuts, the Hollywood strikes paralyzed most American studios, leading to big delays in all stages of production.

Confirming Tyrese Gibson’s earlier comments, Fast & Furious 11 begins filming in January 2025, director Louis Leterrier says, with its release planned for June the following year.
Given how quiet Universal’s been about the whole production, the original plan to have Fast & Furious 11 in cinemas by April 2025 was sounding increasingly unlikely with each passing day. Backing up Tyrese Gibson’s comments from earlier in the month, director Louis Leterrier has confirmed that the sequel won’t begin filming in January 2025 – which will have an inevitable knock-on effect on its release date.
Talking to Collider, Leterrier said that he wouldn’t even be starting pre-production on Fast 11 until the 16th September this year – the reason being he has another film, a sci-fi horror film called 11817 in the works until the day before.

Diano died Jan. 22 at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena of coronary issues after a battle with prostate cancer, his wife, still photographer Gemma Lamana, told The Hollywood Reporter.
Diano served as president of the Society of Camera Operators from 2003-04 before deciding not to run for a second term.

Before entering the DC franchise as Black Adam, Dwayne Johnson had many successful action films under his belt. The former WWE champion-turned-actor featured in films like San Andreas and Rampage apart from being a pivotal presence in The Fast and the Furious franchise. However, apart from this popular film series, The Rock’s other films have surprisingly not expanded into sequels.
Dwayne Johnson in Black Adam
Johnson’s producing partner Hiram Garcia attempted to explain the reasons behind this back in 2022. It appeared from Garcia’s revelations that The Scorpion King star’s commitment to DC and his character Black Adam could have been the deciding factor behind a film like Rampage not getting the greenlight for a sequel. As fate would have it, Johnson’s long-term desires for DC went up in smoke.

It appeared from Garcia’s revelations that The Scorpion King star’s commitment to DC and his character Black Adam could have been the deciding factor behind a film like Rampage not getting the greenlight for a sequel. As fate would have it, Johnson’s long-term desires for DC went up in smoke.

The perks of adulation and superstardom that are expected by-products of being a Hollywood celebrity can also sometimes boomerang back to bite one in the face. Wrestling champion-turned-actor John Cena has been on the receiving end of both extremes. As a bonafide action star with commercial blockbusters to his name, Cena has a massive fan base of sports and movie fans.

If there’s one positive thing even the many people he’s had feuds with might say about Vin Diesel, it’s that when he latches onto a character or concept, he doesn’t let them go. He may have skipped the first sequel to The Fast and the Furious, but once he did return to the role of Dominic Toretto, he made sure the sequels kept reaching theatres at a fast and furious pace. Few movie-goers seem to care about the Richard B. Riddick character beyond Pitch Black, but that hasn’t stopped Diesel from continuing to push sequels forward – and apparently Riddick 4 isn’t far off from production. Then there’s his 2015 fantasy/action film The Last Witch Hunter, which didn’t gain a lot of fans (although JoBlo’s own Alex Maidy dug it). Diesel liked it, so we might just get a The Last Witch Hunter...

In the 1980s, Hollywood didn’t quite know what to do with Rutger Hauer. The actor broke out in a pretty major way following his acclaimed turn in Paul Verhoeven’s Soldier of Orange, paving the way for his American debut in the Sylvester Stallone thriller Nighthawks, where he played the villain Wulfgar. His performance as Roy Batty in Blade Runner blew people away, and for a while, it looked like he might become the next big Hollywood heartthrob, especially when he signed on to star in the epic adventure film Ladyhawke opposite Michelle Pfeiffer for Richard Donner.
But major stardom didn’t happen? Why? Perhaps it was because the movies of Hauer’s that did best at the box office were the ones where he played the villain, such as The Hitcher. He was so unforgettable as a bad guy that when he played a hero, such as in...

The Fast and Furious franchise has been around since 2001, wowing audiences with its thrilling car chases, street racing, heists, and so much more. Starting the movie series with The Fast and the Furious starring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, and others, it kickstarted a franchise thay has endured for more than two decades. Its latest addition was Fast X, which saw the return of many actors, including Dwayne Johnson, who had bid goodbye to the franchise some years back.

It seems like spme bizarre rumors have come up about the Paul Walker. Late American actor Paul William Walker IV is pretty famous for his driving skills. Even if he is not here anymore, his fans still rev their automobile engines as a tribute. Well-known for his roles in the Fast and Furious series, Joy Ride (2001) and Eight Below (2006), Paul Walker never disappointed his fans.
In fact, he is highly indebted to the Fast and Furious series because it served him with what he deserved. His character Brian O’Conner gave him ample love, professional satisfaction, and worldwide recognition. However, a few rumors have led to fans picturing Walker as a different man.

Although today we think of the "Fast and Furious" movies as a massively successful, popular franchise, it's worth remembering that its roots were fairly humble. The 2001 movie "The Fast and the Furious" was mostly small-scale and self-contained, focusing almost entirely on Paul Walker's Brian, who works as an undercover cop and discovers an unlikely friendship with the noble criminal Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel). The movie enjoyed a good (but not amazing) box office performance and received less-than-stellar reviews. Odds were, it would probably get one or two sequels max before it faded into irrelevancy.
But even before critics started bashing the movie for being "'Rebel Without a Cause' without a cause," there were still plenty of reasons for the relatively unknown Paul Walker to be concerned about the project. When he first signed onto it in 1998, "The Fast and the Furious" didn't even have a screenplay, and...

David Ayer has been making action movies for more than 20 years. "Training Day" might still be his most famous credit as a writer, but he also has writing credits on "The Fast and The Furious," "U-571," and "S.W.A.T." and he later wrote and directed films like "End of Watch," "Fury," "Sabotage," and "Suicide Squad" (the latter of which was infamously recut by Warner Bros. before its release). With all of that experience, one might assume he'd be the one imparting advice or doling out nuggets of mastery on the set of his latest action film, "The Beekeeper." But as I learned in a recent interview with the director, Ayer is smart enough to know when to listen -- especially when working with a genre superstar like Jason Statham.
"He schooled me," Ayer told me about his collaboration with Statham on their new movie. "I mean, let's be real: He's an action icon,...

The following contains spoilers for "Echo."
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is vast, which can make it difficult for various stories to stand apart or make their mark. The MCU shows on Disney+ have even more working against them, as there's so much TV out there that divesting people's attention can be difficult. For the latest entry in the MCU, "Echo," the series drew its greatest strength not from other comic books or even superhero cinema, but from another major franchise: "The Fast and the Furious."
While it may not be intentional, "Echo" mirrors "Fast and Furious" in the way Maya (Alaqua Cox) is aided by her extended family, including her estranged grandmother Chula (Tantoo Cardinal), her cousins Biscuits (Cody Lightning) and Bonnie (Kawennáhere Devery Jacobs), her uncle Henry (Chaske Spencer), and her sorta-grandfather Skully (Graham Greene). Armitage Trail's original novel "Scarface" was first published in 1930, and traces the rise and fall of the vicious gangster Tony "Scarface" Guarino, who took over the Chicago bootlegging underground during Prohibition. Clearly, Tony Guarino is an analog to Al Capone, and many true crime fans find it tantalizingly suspicious that Armitage Trail (real name: Maurice R. Coons) died of a heart attack at age 28, only six months after the publication of "Scarface." Coons, after all, had to hobnob with real gangsters in order to get ideas for his novel, and he would have been known in certain corners of the underground.
In 1932, director Howard Hawks made the first film version of "Scarface," starring Paul Muni as Antonio "Tony" Camonte. Hawks' film was well-received, with some critics citing its naturalness and lack of melodrama. Indeed, it was so natural and treated crime with such frankness that some markets refused to show it.

Robert Aldrich's "The Dirty Dozen" is the daddiest of dad movies. A box office smash upon its theatrical release in 1967, it was the proto-"men-on-a-mission" movie. Lee Marvin stars as a World War II U.S. Army major ordered to lead a pack of disposable military prisoners on a suicide mission to slaughter numerous high-ranking Nazi officers. The film brought together some of the most macho men on the planet to play the (not entirely) doomed soldiers: Charles Bronson, George Kennedy, Telly Savalas, and, of course, recently retired Cleveland Browns running back Jim Brown. It was a testosterone-fueled must-see that inspired three made-for-tv sequels and a load of imitators (including Enzo G. Castellari's "The Inglorious Bastards" and Quentin Tarantino's endearingly misspelled "Inglourious Basterds").

The "Fast & Furious" movies just haven't been the same since Paul Walker died. Oh sure, it's been entertaining watching the series relentlessly try to top itself (even sending its heroes to space for real) and later additions John Cena and Jason Momoa have helped inject some fresh energy into the Fast Saga's increasingly strained machinery. But Walker was always the heart and soul of these films. Without him, they just ring hollow.
Vin Diesel, whose offscreen conduct has overshadowed his contributions to these movies of late, needed Walker to play off of. The brotherhood that formed between their characters -- law-breaking street racer Dominic Toretto and undercover police officer Brian O'Conner -- in the original "The Fast and the Furious" extended to the actors' relationship in real life. As much as The Fast Saga has desperately tried to sell audiences on the "epic" romance between Dom and Letty Ortiz...
